I should've known better...
I had a lug nut that wouldn't come off while trying to change a flat tire. I originally thought I should just tow it to a garage, but it was 10 pm & I had to work the next day. I figured if someone could show w/ the right tools & help me get the lug off it'd save me a lot of effort. The technician arrived in a car w/ no company logo or markings. I should've called it off right there. Once we established who we were & this was indeed the right place/scenario for us both, he told me that work couldn't commence until services were paid for up front - which I did -he got to work. He started off attempting to use a lug wrench - the same as I had done. When that didn't work he produced a battery operated impact gun. he attempted to get the lug nut off for several minutes. He then gathered his tools, put them away and proceeded to leave. When I asked what was going on he said the lug was stripped and wouldn't come off. When I started to question this he became verbally abusive and then escalated to physical when he pushed me back and I stumbled to the ground. Thankfully, he got into his car and left me there before it went any further. I looked down the recess hole of my wheel and saw that the inner portion of the lug was still in place but the outer portion where the socket should grab onto was now totally obliterated inside the hole. I went back to my original plan: called an actual tow truck, had my vehicle towed to a garage, missed work the next day so I could return to the garage that isn't anywhere near being close to my place of residence and authorize the work to be done to what became an even larger project that what it started off as. Thank you to Quick Assist Towing for going above & beyond to get my vehicle moved to proper venue and making sure I got safely home.
Mu suggestion...keep your money, put it to proper use and maintain your physical well being by NOT utilizing Clearshield Roadside Assistance.
