Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 41 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Patients frequently struggled with poor communication, unreturned phone calls, and disorganized administrative processes that left them waiting endlessly for appointments, medical answers, or proper referrals. Billing practices and unexpected charges were another major source of deep frustration, with consumers feeling overwhelmed by confusing invoices and rigid prepayment demands. Some reviewers were happy with dedicated medical staff who provided exceptional care and performed successful, complex procedures. Reviewers also appreciated compassionate individual nurses and doctors who made them feel welcome, offering comforting, professional treatment during critical moments.

Cleveland Clinic's Billing Department

Cleveland Clinic is billing its customers for outpatient hospital visits instead of regular office visits. They are stating they can do this because it is a hospital facility. Therefore, if you have a regular annual doctors’ appointments, your bill may be higher than your standard co-pay. They will charge you the co-pay when you are on site, but later on, you will receive another bill. So, in addition to paying for insurance and seeing doctors on your plan that are supposed to be co-pays, we now get to pay additional fees due to the doctors being located on or near the hospital.

Tina Resser at the Cleveland Clinic

Tina Resser at the Cleveland Clinic , caused my family extra stress when my husband was in the NICU. She is not a doctor and will get very defensive if you question anything she says.
Stay clear of this person.

Cleveland Clinic 2nd opinion

This is for the second opinion of Cleveland Clinic. I recently went there, hoping for help. It's expensive. They say they are going to read tests and reports. They did not. They gave me a protocol of meds that I found out is given to almost everyone for my condition (recurrent pericarditis).
Save your money. Go to chat rooms. You will learn more and keep your money.

Cleveland clinic is the worst place you…

Cleveland clinic is the worst place you can go for a heart problem!! If I could give minus stars I would. Please don’t waste your time going there if you have a loved one who has a heart condition. My mother had been in afib for a week, she called on a Monday and it is now Friday without even a nurse or anyone returning her call. She called the nurse on her insurance card and the nurse called out to Cleveland and was told that my mother would receive a call back within 48 to 72 hours with an answer. This place is only in business for the money and could care less about your loved one. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET HELP!!!

Cleveland clinic billing is a joke

Cleveland clinic billing is a joke. My wife went to the emergency room back in January. She gave them our insurance information at that time. We then got a direct bill. We called and told them to go through our insurance. They said fine and we gave them our information again. Then we got the direct bills again. We called again, gave them our insurance info again
They said they had it already but somehow it wasn't linked to our account and they they would "fix it". We got the direct bills again, and then a letter from a collection agency.

THEY NEVER BILLED THROUGH OUR INSURANCE DESPITE GIVING IT TO THEM AT LEAST 3 TIMES.

Cleveland clinic is the WORST place to receive medical attention

Went to the hospital to receive some of the WORST care ever. I was handled by a Dr who gave such attitude I was baffled. I asked a question and she shook her head and snapped it back like I just asked the dumbest question she ever heard. She could have but still, handle yourself better. I felt like I wasn’t being heard, they just wanted to be done with me and move onto the next. I will doing everything in my power to never have to be in a Cleveland clinic hospital, medical building, PCP, NO ONE from Cleveland clinic will see me again thank you.
Even if I was about to die from something I would still rather die, they’d probably just do it wrong and kill me anyways.

Will die before getting answers. Called to get infomation of insurance

Called to get infomation of insurance, time frame to get an appt. And if a referral is needed. First call to the appt line they gave me a number to call in cardiology no answer, 2nd call was sent directly to cardiology to a bunch of selections and then hung up because I didnt know which one to choose. Third call transferred back to cardiology to the never ending loop of push this to push this and then hangs up again. Over it I have a heart condition that is getting worse and I was more stressed trying to get informtion then my heart can handle. The best I will have to disagree. Maybe if you live long enough to be able to talk to a real person with real answers. Guess I am out of luck. See ya on the flip side.

I parked my car at Cole Eye Institute…

I parked my car at Cole Eye Institute and had the worst experience.

The valet parking line on East 100 st was extremely long and disorganized. There are no signs that indicate which lane is for valet parking or which is for drop offs. I parked in the building entrance circle and asked for a valet. I was told that I was in the wrong line and had to exit and drive around the building and re- enter in the correct lane. I explained that my sick daughter had an appointment and would be late if I drove around again and was scolded by a valet employee named William Jordan. He motioned for me to drive around the building and re- enter. I told William Jordan that there were no clear signs indicating which lane was which. I would like to note that there were valet parking attendants that could have taken my car, but I was ignored.

Eventually after trying to ask Mr. Jordan to cooperate, I was able to get the valet parking manager to help and he had a worker take my car. Fortunately, I was able to make the appointment on time.

But that is not the end of the ordeal.

Upon leaving, I paid at the valet parking desk and was given a ticket. I waited outside for 15 mins. *My car was parked 500feet across the street at the Church lot.

After a prolonged wait I went inside the building to the valet desk and asked about my car and then to my astonishment, the desk clerk, Margarete Smith reached in her key box and on the bottom of the box she took out my keys and handed them to William Jordan, the valet from earlier and told him to get my car. I could see that the valet staff was laughing and thought that making me wait was humorous to them.

I was shocked by the vindictive behavior and unprofessional behavior of the staff. I called for the manager, Anthony Hill and he explained that the desk clerk was in training and it was a mistake that she forgot to give my keys to a valet. Can you believe that excuse? She also told me to watch my tone with her when I showed my frustration.

I left the building and waited another 15 minutes for my car to be brought to the building. It was so egregious that I called the CC police for help because at that point the valet workers had seized my care.

After 35 minutes of waiting and begging for my car to no avail, my car finally arrived at the front of the building.

Hopefully CC will look into this matter and no customer will ever have to deal with the poorly trained valet staff and management.

Cleveland Clinic can do much better.

No Appointment Available for Two Months

o Appointment Available for Two Months

A few days after New Year’s I was coughing day and night
A call to see my doctor, this bullet I should bite
To make an appointment with my long-time caretaker
I believed I was called the office of I’ll tell you later

I’ve always been optimistic
And was prepared to be realistic
Until they said the soonest an appointment could be made
Was the end of February, they were afraid
Not knowing the call was not to the office of Doc’s taker
But to Cleveland Clinic’s phone bank’s call taker
I was appalled by that time frame, so I said
By the end of February, I could be dead

How is it possible when you’re sick
They’d tell you a doctor’s schedule is far too thick
To not accommodate an unwell patient’s request
That it could come to this I’d never guessed

Is it because Cleveland Clinic demands
Taking appointment out of the doctors’ hands
Preventing them from giving patients the kind of attention
When the better part of valor is direct intervention

I bet most didn’t become a doctor
To be dictated to by a proctor
It may be the better course
To from Cleveland Clinic get a divorce

HORRIFIC experience

HORRIFIC experience, to sum up a long story, my father came into Dr Wisemans office for an echocardiogram. The test was performed and they never read the results. My father called and left several messages asking if they read his results, 7 days after walking out of Dr Wiseman's office my dad had a massive heart attack and had a valve replacement and a multiple bypass open heart surgery at University Hospitals. He was in the hospital for almost 2 months.
We were told that if his echocardiogram was read that day he would have been admitted immediately.
BUT hey, i guess i understand b/c Dr. Wiseman was getting ready for a nice vacation and didn't want to be bothered. My father called his office and sent several messages asking if they read it, no reply.
When i called his office after my fathers heart attack to see if anyone read it yet, i was initially told it was lost, only after they understood the situation did they 'find' it, read it and posted the findings.
NOBODY has yet to do a follow up and actually had the nerve to send a bill for reading it.
Thanks to University Hospital my father is alive today!

Greatest Hospital- I don't think so

Why is this system voted number 2? Look at these reviews and judge for yourself. I came to write a review and found everyone complaining about the same thing. It's not worth my time, I'll find somewhere else to go

I have PTSD from this hospital system

They are like a slot machine at a casino: keep throwing your body into appointments, and you might eventially get something out of it. The reviewer who said they want you already diagnosed is correct. Rheumatology has been corrupted for years. The last one I saw sent me to another system because he could see I was sick but knew their policy is bad. Neuro costed me so dearly i probably should have sued, but I was too neurologically compromised to act. Ombuds is abusive. I actually have appts scheduled I am cancelling. My ob/gyn is a truly good human who works for a sociopathic machine. She has no will and I don't want to make her feel worse about her job. My cardio is a new dr, and I like him, but again, I don't trust policies from his overlord that determine my care. Gastro is a con. I tried meds already with my old NP at CC, and I was expected to try again. I went elsewhere and they immediately gave me something i'd never heard of to try. I know the reasons a few of my docs left & don't blame them. The new kids are sometimes really good people who signed their souls over. And for my endocrine issues, they have gone down the drain. They are ozempic pushers now, and I have no clue how they still rank. Best and most recent garbage: finding out that specialists for my one condition know exactly what i'm talking about, but the neuro I saw at CC about the subspecialist adjacent and the med I asked about while I waited on further eval was completely clueless and totally abusive. He didn't even recognize the issue i was having that day. He only cares about easy and pre-diagnosed to fit his image. (Thank god for patient groups: he has done this to several people, and word is spreading.) The staff is horrendous, but to be fair, they are abused and ground to a nub. The ppl I know personally who work there are not happy, but cleveland went from steel town to hospital town, and here we are. It would be nice if there were more competition locally, but CC bought the medical school, and the cancer that is substandard care masquerading as "patient focused" is further deteriorating quality of care.

I would not select any star if that was…

I would not select any star if that was an option. My husband's entire ER visit was a TOTAL nightmare. The physician on call was 110 years old. He did not follow up on anything, gave me the wrong medicine and discharged me without updating their system. I am now sicker than I was originally. If you need any medical attention at all, go to Jupiter.

THE VAUNTED CLEVELAND CLINIC..HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

drove 2-1/2 hours to the clinic for a consultation with a hematologist. Pre-registered and brought everything I was supposed to bring. Appointment was at 2 PM. Nurse checked me in and at 2:10 PM was ushered into an exam room. Was told the doctor would be in shortly.
By 2:45...no doctor. I wrote a note explaining why I left.

unethical doctors with fragile egos

I no longer get care at this atrocious facility. The things Cleveland Clinic did to me was illegal and not ethical. I could not recommend them to anyone. To get away with their illegal and unethical behavior they bear false witness against their patients with no evidence to back up any of their claims. They wrote lies about my character in my medical chart. I have been so severely traumatized by getting care at several of their facilities, including main campus. Not one but multiple doctors mistreated me with my family present to witness the abuse. As a result my family no longer see doctors. This place should be ashamed of their behavior.

Their diagnostic skills are below average. Their treatment plans are a one size fits all. Sorry for your luck if it doesn't work for you. I was told before I went to the Cleveland Clinic I had to have a diagnosis prior and I was also told "I needed to pretend to be stupid." I would agree with both of those. They can't diagnose and they feel threatened by patients with above average intelligence. Cleveland Clinic doctors and staff have super fragile egos. Stay away from this place.

Absolutely horrible hospital

Absolutely horrible hospital. My oncologist left and now I am without any info or test results. No future appointment or tests or even a new doctor. My daughter went 3 weeks with a stent for her kidney stone because Cleveland clinic has to RENT the lithotripsy machine. People should be put in jail. This is in Vero beach Florida. Sat for one hour with IV in arm because doc didn’t sign order for Keytruda.

Poor communication/ Nonexistent concern

Called to advise that I needed a follow up mammogram due to abnormalities. Scheduled me a month and a half ago. Numerous messages to remind me through MyChart. Called last night to confirm appointment. I had made accommodations for childcare and missing work. Pull into the parking deck and get a call 16 minutes before my appointment time to advise that I no longer needed my appointment. Quite annoyed that it seemed comical to the caller. After a few bad experiences involving Cleveland Clinic: neglect, poor communication, lack of concern, etc I will be receiving my care elsewhere.

Dr Ehab Farag's (Anesthesiologist) - Worst Dr. EVER!!!

Dr. Farag killed my husband due to negligence and Cleveland Clinic is standing behind him knowing what happened to my husband is due to Dr. Ehab Farag's (Anesthesiologist) negligence. I will expose this Dr. and Cleveland Clinic for their wrongdoing. They pretended to investigate through the Ombudsman's office. We were assigned a rep by the name of Alexandrea she had the worst attitude and never returned calls after several left messages. Do not trust the Ombudsman's office they are a part of Cleveland Clinic and would stand with them. Don't trust them when they say they advocate for the patient!!!!
