Unprofessional and badly managed
Unprofessional and badly managed. Over the 10 month we lived there we had our mail keys withheld for over 2 months, 2 leaks from flats above us, cockroaches, a broken dish washer for the entire duration of our tenancy (with no rent deduction), a variety of mould in the laundry room, worrying smouldering piles of ash outside the main entrance, regular unannounced entries into our apartment by staff, and now they will not return my deposit to me (it's currently been 2 months since my tenancy ended).
I have contacted both the general Cloud Student Homes email and the Stratus email but had no response. I have opened a request through the deposit scheme which they have also not responded to so I will have to spend time and money contacting a solicitor.
Generally the company seem bad at responding, but Stratus in Sheffield seems particularly bad. The building is a mess and student ambassadors have no idea what they're doing.
(The only good thing I have to say is that the Stratus caretaker is lovely and the only person who got anything done. He fixed any issues that he could himself. He was let down by the management who at the beginning of our tenancy didn't forward issues to him quickly, and later on wouldn't contact specialist e.g plumbers, quickly or sometimes at all (re the dishwasher))

Disgusting and Dirty Room
I am a new student who has moved into a studio at Longside House in Bradford.
I am paying a huge amount of money to stay here and had been given my keys today, expecting to walk into a clean and healthy looking room.
But I have been welcomed into a room full of dead insects and walking cockroaches!!! My bed had insects on it and was stained, and at the side of my bed I came to find someone’s boxer shorts! I am disgusted and can’t even get words out to explain how dirty and filthy this studio accommodation is!
My dishwasher started to leak when I switched it on? And was filthy?
I am disgusted that this is accepted as normal living and healthy standards for students to move into with cloud student accomadation? You should really be ashamed of yourselves, welcoming new students into there university year like this? This place is definately not to living and hygiene standards, I am disgusted!!

Do not deal with cloudrooms
As a previous tenant the overall experience was less than enjoyable. During the tenancy, I would either be lucky to have a reply and would also be emailed the day before (not 24 hours) or the day of a visit which to my understanding is illegal. Additionally, the landlord would pop in unannounced which is very much against UK laws. Having low moved out, I am getting zero communication on what is happening with my deposit and have had to chased down any person that is reachable to have them tell me that it is someone else’s job to deal with the deposit.

IF STUDYING IN CANTERBURY READ
I am a student studying in Canterbury, I booked the Tallis court accommodation and it was the worst mistake I ever made. Kitchen electricity would randomly switch off at least twice a week and would take days for someone to come fix it. If you are like me and don’t have time to cook fresh food every day, best believe the frozen food in the freezer will be soggy and any dairy products in the fridge will expire and leave an unbearable stench. I have lost more than £50 upwards worth of food due to this. No notice from property manager when maintenance will be coming leading them to unlock my door multiples times without warning. Many occasions I am asleep, showering or even on the toilet to hear my door being unlocked with a stranger walking in as if he was the tenant. My toilet seat was much smaller then the toilet meaning when you sit on it, it slides around and was very uncomfortable. Maintenance came in and told me to communicate to my property manager the issues he is paid to diagnose and pass on to the property manager himself. Internet shuts off for long durations causing me have to walk to the library to do assignments during time sensitive writing periods adding to stress and there is no provocativeness from the company, letting agency or management to fix in a timely manner. People in the office are obtuse, bland and as a student paying rent I tend to not go even when there are one of the many faults happening as I feel I am interrupting them. Help from the office is often laboured and quick fix to “shut up” students to allow them to get back to what they are doing. I was not able to hoover my room for months as they sent out cheap hand held hoovers to each kitchen which would barely suck up any dust and the foot of the hoover could never stay connected. My windows in my room are incredibly intrusive because whenever I open the blinds the whole world could see my bed directly as they walk past my window leaving me to prefer to use the small night light as my makeshift daylight replacement. The bed frames were broken when I initially moved in causing more damage to the rest of wooden planks due to the already uneven weight. Sleeping is a nightmare because you will definitely encounter multiple springs poking through the cheap, thin mattress. That on top of the already broken and uneven bed due to the frail planks is a reoccurring nightmare. Last of all electricity and hot water is a luxury and you should be sure to enjoy it when you have the rare week when they are on because you will experience at least one or two weeks when one or both are not working. I strongly suggest not staying in this glamorised Swedish prison but proceed at your own risk. Never again
This is the second review
This is the second review. Initially Anuja was lovely. However, my girlfriend experienced harassment and threats from a tenant that was not even a student. She has since finished the 1 year contract and is waiting for a measly £100 deposit to be returned. The person taking over the room has paid his £100 deposit but the initial £100 my girlfriend paid (me in fact) has not been returned.
I would recommend Anuja from cloud homes but ‘not’ cloud homes (Mandale Terrace) after the experience.
Make sure you have an emergency plan that works!
My daughter was locked out of her room for over 24 hours due to a failed lock. There was a huge delay in helping her to rectify this, in fact very little urgency was taken. The manager was on holiday and left a student in charge. I think you really need to think about how this kind of incident doesn't happen again, maybe a business continuity plan for emergencies? If a manager goes on holiday there has to be a point of contact to take care of its' tenants. The head office didn't pick up the phones or answer the on line messaging system until after 12 noon.

I absolutely would NOT recommend...
This company is, without a doubt, the worst letting agency I have ever dealt with. They do not reply emails, nor do they answer phone calls. From the moment I was handed my key, I regretted ever signing my contract and I'd need more than this box to explain everything that went wrong- including not getting the room I saw photos of and paid for. I moved out months ago and I'm still waiting for my deposit (or at least communication regarding why I may not be getting it back). There is a serious disconnect between building managers (ours was lovely) and letting managers at the office (oftentimes rude and deliberately obtuse on the rare occasion you are able to get hold of them). I would strongly advise anyone even considering renting with Cloud Student Homes to look elsewhere.

Problems that can not be rectified such as charging an extra month.

I have had an aweful time here, wouldn't recommend this place as there are always maintenance issues, the manager doesn't really listen to any problems. Theres always a weird smell and my room automatically locks when I don't want it to.

Horrible- Would Not Recommend
I’ve had a terrible experience with cloud student homes. I would not recommend at all. The manager fined me for something that I didn’t do and banned my guest from the building even though he hadn’t done anything wrong. I tried reaching out to someone for help but no one helped me through my complaint. I had to change rooms several times, one time because there was a mouse and that is soo unhygienic. The fire alarm never shuts up. The manager doesn't even listen properly
The property I am currently contracted under is Longside House, I wanted to complain about Usmaan the Manager and when I wanted to make a complaint about him I kept getting transferred to him instead of another staff that could help me with

Great student accommodation and property management
Since my initial review, I have upgraded my ranking based on my ongoing experience. To get to the point, I was initially unhappy but since being with them I have seen what this company does both for investors (property owners like me), for students, and managing relationships of other organisations involved. I see how they took a difficult situation - and working to make it a good experience for those that rely on them the most.
The building had become an entity for investment trusts to make money from, affecting the experience of students who needed somewhere to live close to uni, and private landlords who bought in good faith but saw service charges keep increasing and their rental rates lowered to try to get tenants. Previously although the site staff had been good, the existing management company, Xenia, had been evasive. They made it difficult to sort issues as they weren't easy to reach but many were trapped to paying high costs.
I didn't see it at the time but Cloud Homes, under the comand of Harvey was dealing with a difficult situation. They had to keep Xenia happy to keep things getting done, to ensure things weren't neglected and keep property owners on board and tenants happy.
As I am seeing Cloud is consolidating responsibility for the different parts and the different organisations to mean cut down on passing the blame as before. And reduce cost. And actually so important, by streamlining the service I am seeing that things are done faster, as owners can pay for services they need on demand.
Maybe I said too much but I have honestly been impressed by the staff onsite. They are not afraid to confront a difficult tenant if they refuse to act in a respectful manner to stop problems escalating too much. Despite those situations they always do in a respectful way to avoid tension and not afraid to communicate issues to the landlord when needed. And through this they work to create a good experience for the tenants.
I can honestly say, even through my frustrations I have always found this company not afraid to face issues and talk to directly through phone and email, working to sort issues. I am seeing they have long term thinking and building up the reputation. And I have been happy in my communication with all the staff. From the director through to the onsite team. My only bugbear is for the onsite team to communicate more to the corporate management because I get stressed about things not being done then I went to site and saw it was being done but no one told me! But again I know the management has a lot on their plate with a lot of suppliers and organisations involved just for 1 building - and cloud manage and let several buildings across the country!!
So it was rocky to start but my experience with cloud and how they are working to manage, improve and simplify student accommodation to benefit many individuals has made me happy.
