My partner & I found ourselves in a tight spot in late 2024 when eviction loomed because our landlord had decided to sell.
With rent demand & costs shooting up locally, we decided to look into buying a home - even though saving a deposit wasn’t an easy task.
In the midst of a sellers market, the homes we thought we could afford were all selling way over asking price. Our mortgage broker suggested we explore Northern Ireland Co-Ownership to overcome our lack of a large deposit & lack of time to save.

We decided to give it a go.From the very start, co ownership were really down-to-earth and helpful—giving clear advice on what they could do for us, even though nothing was guaranteed.
We decided to apply and were delighted when we got accepted. With NICOHA’s expert support, we began viewing a range of new build houses and found one that ticked all our boxes,our dream home.
The application process was straightforward, we used a fantastic mortgage broker who took care of this for us and in just five months, the house was built & we had secured our dream forever home.
Overall, Co ownership have simply been brilliant.

Coownership have made it possible for me to buy my first home. The process is well explained at every stage and every customer service representative I spoke to along the way was friendly, helpful and showed genuine empathy regarding how difficult and stressful the housebuying process can be.

Everything from the word go was so straight forward. I was applying and going through this process on my own so I was worried everything would be overwhelming and complicated, it was in fact very straight forward and you can’t really go wrong as it has a step by step approach. The application turnaround time was quick which was a relief not to have to wait for the answer for too long. Staff are professional, friendly and honestly all of them were keen to help (and did). The communication and response times are excellent and everything is ran very efficiently. I am very impressed with the overall process and I am 100% happy with the service.

Co-ownership were very helpful and helped make my dream a reality of owning my first home at over 50 years. I was happy to take myself off the council housing list that I've been on for 20 years on a zero award. They made the process seem effortless and the compassion for individual circumstances was evident in the process. All the information is online or at the end of a phone-call or email on how to co-own your home with co-ownership. I would never have afforded my new build home without them. After renting run down homes for 30 years, it was such a joy to get my new build home. Buying a new home is stressful but co-ownership halved the stress because my repayments were far less with co-ownership than with a traditional mortgage. No matter how well you budget and account for buying for your new home, it will always cost more than you anticipated, rarely less. So having someone in the process that has no hidden costs can help enormously. Thank you co-ownership!

My wife and I purchased our first home with the help of co-ownership, was a really great experience with no really worries or issues. We enquired online, went in for a meeting to chat about affordability and how co-ownership all worked. Once we applied we were accepted in less than a week (if I can remember correctly), supplied all documents needed which again wasn’t anything unexpected.

Once we had sale agreed, the estate agent took over and with our solicitor co-ownership sorted everything out on their side for us. If we did have any questions we could call and have an answer straight away which was fantastic to see.

Overall it was a great experience, friendly and professional staff and couldn’t recommend them enough. We were finding it difficult to save for a 10% deposit with how high our rent was, and if anyone else is in a similar position I would really encourage you to look into the scheme.

Because of co-ownership I now have my own house. I couldn’t have done it without them. They were with me every step of the way and had my best interests at the forefront always.
