Rip off

Ordered these chocolates through wowcher. They were a gift and thought what a fab price. Had to order directly from site instead of through wowcher. Chocs arrived but unfortunately were not to my taste - however, everyone has different tastes. Was quite happy to leave it at that. However, today when I logged into my bank it had been debited by £19.99 from Cocoa Boutique. When I phoned to query this I was told I had signed up for a monthly delivery (which is totally untrue). I am currently awaiting a manager phoning me back as they refuse to refund my money and refuse to take back the chocolates (which I still haven't received!). Totally disgusted and would strongly recommend avoiding this company at all costs.

Much prefer Hotel Chocolat

I thought I would try this as an alternative but found the chocolates far too sweet and no real flavour of chocolate, more like a Thornton's or Cadbury's selection. I realise that many people prefer this type of chocolate but I prefer chocolates made with high cocoa content from good cocoa beans. The fillings I found insipid and lacking in flavour. I do not like the taste of Sorbitel as a sweetner and really has no place in chocolate. These chocolates from Cocoa Boutique are just not for me.

Something to try at least once

Found the club a few months ago on google and was very interested straight away, but didn't have the cash to splash. I still don't now, but my first box - that I got a deal for on Wowcher for £2! - was a great start and I look forward to my current box and the one after that next year. The chocolates are worth the price if you have expensive taste which I don't usually. It's definitely something NOT to be sniffed at, canceling the membership is easy or you can just push back the next order to up to 12 months later like I have. There is a wide variety of tastes in each box - milk, white, dark, there is something for everyone/every taste - and they welcome feedback, so don't be shy to tell them you love - or hate - something. Enjoy! [smiley face]

Good chocolate - not-so-good prices

The chocolates we ordered from cocoa boutique were all very tasty. We had a special offer so the value for money was excellent. however if I had bought the chocolates for full price I would have been disappointed... If you compare them to a good swiss chocolate like Lindt they are just not quite as good. But some great new and exotic flavours and really nice packaging.

Packaging or delivery??

The chocolates were amazing, perfect for dieters cos you have just one and don't want to eat anything else for DAYS, you don't want to have any other flavour in your mouth!
Only downside was the state of the chocolates. The box fitted my letterbox perfectly but I had smashed chocolates to look at when I opened the box which detracted from the viewing experience. Not too appealing when you have to lick a soft centre off the box insert!!

Good but with room for improvement

Whilst the flavours I have tried in three different boxes are nice, on the whole they are quite mundane and have been done in countless boxes of high street chocolates. For true chocolate aficionados there is certainly a lack of dark chocolate as well.

The customer service team have been exemplary in my dealings with them and I think it's brilliant how the boxes are made to fit through your letter box. I'll wait to see what the next one or two boxes contain but unless there are more adventurous flavour combinations I will stop my membership as it would not be worth the cost in my case.

Never again would I part with my money to this company.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought 4 of their platinum collection to give as gifts later on in the year. When these items arrived in June 2013, I noticed that they had expiration dates of July 2013. So i tried to call them to complain, they have no number listed (see other reviewers comments below).
When I did find a number online, I left 2 messages and no one returned my calls, so I resorted to emailing them.
Below is the response I received from their customer services department, when I asked for a full refund, because their items were short dated.

In fairness, i have no idea what their chocolate tastes like as I still want to return it and get my money back:

Hello,

Thank you for your enquiry.

I can advise that perishable items such as Food Stuffs are not covered under Distance Selling Regulations.

The only item we allow customers to return are our Best of the Best Introductory Selection.

As you have not purchased this particular selection you are unable to return the items to us.

Any dispute raised with your card issuer will be responded to with all evidence of these emails and exceptions to the Distant Selling Regulations provided.

I would also advise that Peeta selection has a near 2 month shelf life and the Queenie Selection nearly 4 months.

I would not call this a short shelf life.

Regards,

Gorgeous chocolates at a good price

My husband & I really enjoyed trying their best of the best selection & I can't wait for the next delivery! Tried some really interesting flavours that I'd never choose myself but it's nice to have tried.

Dislike this company

Chocolates are overpriced. Good but not that good compared to what you can get elsewhere.

Cocoa Boutique appear to gain customers via getting them to sign up for free or discounted chocolates. In small print this means they are then a member and will receive (often unexpected) boxes at full price thereafter. Although you must give permission and submit payment details, the lack of clarity and the small window in which you can then cancel membership, means that you are likely to be hoodwinked into overpriced chocolates you don't want at a later date.

If you are vigilant and cancel membership after the discounted box, it is worth it. For the majority of us who forget and/or don't read the small print, it is not worth it.

There is a guarantee to be refunded if you are not satisfied. This has not been true for myself or others. Don't believe it!

Because I dislike the tactics and strategy used to gain customers, I will not buy from them again.

The chocolate is so tasty and the variety that comes in the box is so addictive you struggle to stop eating them.

It was a great treat for for Easter as I didn't get to buy the Egg and eating every chocolate made me smile. I also enjoyed to vote on each of them so since there's two of each chocolate the first round I simply enjoyed them as I pleased and for the second round I actually tasted gingerly each layer and overall taste. It's just a fun box and the most fun I've had eating chocolate.

This company overcharge and do not supply the full order

I have opened my egg today and there are no truffles included as there should have been. I paid £19 just for an egg!
I have tried to contact them but the email link does not work and there are no telephone numbers.
I do not recommend this company and will not be ordering any more.
Avoid like the plague

Fantastic: consistently dynamic, frequently quirky, but always top-quality chocolates!

Such a range in every box, and such quality too! Fairly pricy, true, so best taken at a steady pace. It's also impressive how sturdy the actual box is, seeing that it can fit through one's front door letterbox! It's worth taking a lot at the explanations and the stories, both on the paper version that comes with the box and the stuff on the website.

really good chocolate but too expensive!

As I said in my tasting review I have been a member of another chocolate tasting club for many years (about 10).

In your favour: the quality is really good and a nice variety of different kind of chocolates and textures. Some of your chocolate is quite 'simple', which is not a problem, but the price relationship is just wrong.

Hotel Chocolat gives you about 100 gr more in their box and charges less than you!

I love that you use local chocolatiers, but they should therefore be if anything more reasonable as chocolate made and shipped from the continent.
