Cologuard Lacks Privacy

Nice to state it to the world when you have "Cologuard testing kit" on the outside box and/or label even if it is written small along with your huge logo splashing around in blue. Ever hear of "Return to Sender"?

They will not bill your insurance because they want more money.

They send you a bill for the full amount and do not bill insurance. They do this so they get more money. I was told "We billed your insurance and they don't cover it ($600+)."

I said that's interesting. How did you bill them? I have not given you my insurance information yet. Which I then did. Then I got a bill a month later saying insurance declined it. Strange, it should have been covered.

I called my insurance. The claim had been submitted incorrectly. I called Cologuard and they said they could not resubmit even though they did it wrong.

It was not until I had a conference call with my insurance co (Aetna) and Cologuard that they agreed to send it in again. Insurance will limit the amount they get paid is why they want to bill old people directly and hope they cough up the dough. It's very sketchy.

After receiving my Cologuard kit I…

After receiving my Cologuard kit I received repeated calls and texts none of which I answered as hard to tell if they were all legit as they came from different numbers from different area codes. All those calls were unnecessary and I dont need text messages saying complete in the next 48 hours when Im on vacation. I followed the directions EXACTLY and sent it back in. It came in a very large box which seemed ridiculous it was so big w their logo all over it . It was suppose to be sent back in thru UPS within 48 hours. I returned mine in less then 24 hours. I then checked on line a week later and it said I had never been sent the kit . I contact Cologuard and I'm told they cd not process it. I ask why no reason given but they could send me another kit. It appears its some error on their part. They just tell me they will notify my healthcare provider when I told them not to bother sending me another kit. Also a friend who used Cologuard just had a false positive so I'm not sure why this test is worth all the bother especially when they cant even process my kit after all the trouble I went through. I wont be using them again if this is how they do business

Absolutely terrible!

Absolutely terrible!! False positive caused 2 months of anxiety. Colonoscopy perfect, THANK GOD !!! Had to wait 2 months for colonoscopy. Scared to death for 2 months due to a positive Cologuard test. Very thankful and relieved that it was a false positive. Don't put yourself through his. Just get the colonoscopy.

Their lab wasn't covered under my insurance

I realize tests like this are not the same as an actual colonoscopy, but I knew that going in. I went to my in network doctor who gave the order for this. I sent in my sample but had NO IDEA I should have called my insurance, BCBS Anthem, to ask if the lab, Exact Science, was in network too. It was not. As such, I lost two appeals and received a bill for $681!!! Obviously, this is an issue as Cologard has a letter you can fill, print and send to your insurance for appeals. Wish I had known that before I exhausted my appeals, maybe it would have helped.

Cologuard sucks IMO

You should allow consumers to give Cologuard a zero or negative # rating IMO! Before I obtained my cologuard sample, I got annoying texts and emails daily! Per directions I got the sample, prepared sample per package directions and within 3 hours my package was at UPS for delivery to Cologuard. Now 7 days later I get a phone call from Cologuard and I find the my sample has NOT been tested yet! Supposedly they could not read the dates I printed! WHY THE HELL do consumers have to RUSH within hours to get sample to UPS to get sample sent for next day delivery BUT Cologuard SITS IN IT FOR 6 Days! NEVER

Cologuard Not Recommended

My physician ordered Cologuard on 4/1. I know it was ordered because I received a follow up text from Cologuard the same day about my physician's order. By the 12th, I still had not received my kit or had even heard anything from Cologuard as to when to expect my kit. I had to call to follow up. The customer service rep said that I should call my doctor's office and tell them to send in 2 different ICD-10 diagnosis codes to their company. She claimed the delay was because the correct codes weren't sent. I called my doctor's office on the 12th and relayed the message. My doctor's office stated they would send the codes I gave them. I followed up with my doctor's office to make sure the diagnosis codes were indeed sent. They were. Here it is, 4/27, and still no Cologuard. I have had to resort to see a Gastroenterologist instead. This has been terrible service from Cologuard, leaving me hanging from the start as to why I was not getting my kit. Then, leaving it to me to be a messenger to my doctor's office. That should be their job. I am no longer interested in Cologuard for future health means, and I will discourage anyone who inquires me about the service.

Cologuard gave me a false positive

Cologuard gave me a false positive. I thought my insurance would cover it but I received a bill for over $600. I asked my doctor and she said cologuard is supposed to make sure your insurance pays for it or gives you options. I never received any options and I was forced to pay. I am happy on one front and that they were wrong.

Do NOT use/trust ColoGuard. Costly, inaccurate test.

I am a healthy fifty-something woman who didn't have any colo-rectal issues, never had a colonoscopy, and didn't want one. But my doctor recommended ColoGuard, saying it was for people like me, easy and should be covered by insurance, so I tried it. BIG mistake. The test was supposedly positive and I was charged $681 by Exact Sciences, when I thought it was covered by insurance. I then had to wait four months to get a colonoscopy and was terrified I had colon cancer. Finally got a colonoscopy and discovered I had a totally clean colon, not even a polyp. But because of the inaccurate ColoGuard test, I got charged $1000 for what should have been covered by insurance -- in addition to the $681 I had to pay Exact Sciences. I have since heard from several other people who had the same thing happen to them. Moral of the story: Do NOT use ColoGuard!

Like others have said,”Dont use…

Like others have said,”Dont use Cologuard”. Error rate is high and it uses up your covered screening. So when i got that false positive and had to go for a real colonoscopy (which was negative and no polyps), i ended up paying out of pocket. Cologuard should pay for this! Just get the colonoscopy……unless you live in Canada where the stool test they use is 98% accurate.

My doctor asked if I wanted a colonoscopy, and a cologuard as an option. I did not check my insurance like I should have. I checked positive. And now I need a colonoscopy. My insurance will only cover 85% of the colonoscopy now ,where as it would have covered 100% for the colonoscopy if I did not have a cologuard. I am disappointed with my doctor for not giving me a heads up on this insurance issue. Total cost approx. Will be $2,500.for a colonoscopy because my deductible has not been made. Will not use colagard ever again.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Due to Covid, I decided to do this test rather than go into a doctor's office. The test came back positive, which terrified me! With Covid, I had to wait 7 months to get an appointment anywhere to get a colonoscopy, even though I told every doctor my test was positive (they all said "those test aren't even accurate). I finally got a colonoscopy, and the results were negative. I didn't even have any polyps. This test terrified me and it was completely inaccurate. DON"T BUY THIS...JUST GET A COLONOSCOPY!

I was sent 2 separate tests and both times I got email stating that my tests were received out of the 72 hour window
When I received both of the tests they were sent straight to UPS
Then I was told that it was out of both of our control that the tests were not processed in a timely manner. I refuse to use this product again
So before you agree to this make sure you already have a sample ready and walk it into the lab yourself in order to get it to them in a timely manner

Greedy Business

I was hesitant to get a colonoscopy so my Doctor mentioned the ColoGuard test. I agreed and was sent the kit, followed the instructions and sent it back. I received a letter saying the test was inconclusive and that I needed to take another. They sent me the second kit explaining that I should take the test and send it back ASAP. Meanwhile...apparently my Doctor received a letter from ColoGuard stating that my test was normal.
I received a bill a few days later for I think around $700 or &900. I called ColoGuard and they said they would resubmit to my insurance company. Here's what I think happened, merely speculation of course. This company wanted to bill me twice. I was told that they only bill for tests that are sent in and processed. I had a letter saying my test was inconclusive and therefore needed to take it again and get billed twice when all along my Doctor had a letter stating that my test was normal.

Why not respect customers?

Why doesn't this company respect at least the intention of medical privacy laws?
The test kit is sent in a bright white box adorned with the Cologuard logo. Everyone who delivers it and those who handle it during return shipping knows that the person named on the address label is having a colon test and is now return shipping a box full of human stool. Really?
Cologuard... respect your customers right to privacy. Take your company advertising off the box and hire someone in advertising and marketing with a professional understanding of a customer's right to privacy.

I would give ColoGuard Zero stars if possible

My physician recommended ColoGuard ordering the test during my appointment.
ColoGuard harassed me leaving phone messages and sent letters asking when would I complete the test. I was still receiving these even after I had received test results back from Exact Sciences. Test result was positive so scheduled a colonoscopy. Colonoscopy showed test to be false positive. Since insurance covered ColoGuard they would not cover the colonoscopy. This is great for hospitals because they get extra revenue for the second test. After receiving test results I researched ColoGuard. Had I done that prior to the test, I would not have agreed to ColoGuard. Don't waste your time, money, or stress just get the colonoscopy.

I would NEVER recommend having a COLOGARD done. First off mine came back Positive. I then was instructed by the medical person who recommended that I do the COLOGARD to have a colonoscopy. I did what was prescribed and my colonoscopy showed Nothing. I'm happy about that. However, when the hospital coded my colonoscopy was done as a result of a Positive COLOGARD.... Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance did Not pay towards my Well Being colonoscopy...... colonoscopies are Expensive. I would Not recommend getting a COLOGARD first.... had I known this info about Insurance company I would have never had a COLOGARD First.

Incomplete reporting leads to questionable utility

The Cologuard collection kit is pretty well engineered, and a negative result is relatively unambiguous and addressed well in the scientific literature. However, a positive result does not differentiate between DNA markers (which are quite specific for CR neoplasia) and hemoglobin (which is not really). Therefore, a positive result is inadequate for further decision making since it does not tell you what you are positive for. It would be simple enough to report two results: one for DNA markers and one for hemoglobin (quantitative).
