Condor Ferries was founded in 1964 and initially operated a passenger service between France and the Channel Islands. In 1987, the first service linking the Channel Islands with the UK was launched and since then Condor Ferries has operated a year-round service connecting the UK through Poole, and Portsmouth, the Channel Islands through Guernsey and Jersey and the port of St Malo in France. Condor Ferries operates the high speed ferries, Condor Liberation and Condor Rapide. In 1999 Commodore Clipper, a conventional car, passenger and freight carrying vessel was introduced to the fleet to offer an all-weather, year round service. Each year, Condor Ferries carries more than 1 million passengers and 200,000 passenger vehicles. Condor Ferries also operates Commodore Goodwill, as a freight only vessel. The Condor Ferries fleet carries 100,000 freight vehicles into the Channel Islands each year as well as exporting tonnes of local produce. Condor Ferries is also an active member of the communities within which it operates and supports numerous organisations, sports and charities through sponsorship and travel.

Changed the date, boat and destination :(
Condor changed our ferry to a day earlier, an 11 hour crossing instead of 3 and to a different location.
We had booked 3 months ago and booked holiday accommodation based on the ferry.
Zero help from Condor who have decided that some sailings will no-longer accept anything larger than a car (trailers & vans)
Awful Staff at Poole
Staff at check in at Poole Ferry Port were completely unhelpful, incompetent and caused us to miss our Ferry.
Arrived in plenty of time to get on ferry (70 mins before sailing) as a car booking. The staff member in the check in booth refused to deal with us because our confirmation had 'freight' in the subject title. She would not even check our booking reference which would have notified her that the vehicle was not a freight booking. The vehicle was booked on via the Freight Office in Guernsey, hence the ref to 'freight'. We were directed into the 'freight' lane and had to wait for 30 mins whilst other vehicles were checked, including 2 horseboxes. When we arrived at the front of the queue the girl in the booth informed us that we had failed to book in early enough at the freight yard (90 mins prior to boarding) and that we had missed check in. She refused to listen to the facts and that we had been on time but had been told to wait in the wrong queue. She kept trying to make the point that because we were in a small van and were travelling on business we were freight. This was irrelevant because we were only carrying personal effects and equipment relating to our work. She even refused to talk to the booking office in Guernsey. Luckily for us the booking office in Guernsey was able to re-book us onto the overnight ferry that day from Portsmouth. Just because the company has a monopoly on the crossings does not mean that it doesn't have to do customer relations.
Unreliable, changed booking from day to night and a day earlier!
Disgraceful treatment on an advanced booking. Got an email saying booking time changed and not to worry they had taken care of it all. Yer right, a day earlier and an overnight instead of daytime crossing. No thanks! Not a weather reason as still 6 weeks away, just money saving for them. Took hours waiting on the phone to get through to someone, they deliberating make difficult to get through to cancel it. Never again!
We were delayed no less than NINE full…
We were delayed no less than NINE full days stuck on Guernsey after Christmas. Condor blamed it on 'adverse weather' even though during that time, there were sailings to Portsmouth from Guernsey.
This is a company which advertises its fleet as being able to provide all year round and all weather sailings. Our advice...fly to the islands.
This is an incompetent company..don't use them.
My experience
Overall not a bad experience I enjoyed it friendly staff memorable names are Marc and Isabella, they are great people.
Awful business
Absolute nightmare - never again!
I travel to France at least once a month. This was my first and last time using Condor!
I admit, I missed their check-in time by 5minutes due to horrendous traffic the full length of the M3. But despite the ferry still being sat there and a queue of people waiting outside their vehicles to board. I was turned away and sent to the main terminal if I wanted any type of customer service.
I had to pay to park at the terminal, went inside to be told I would not receive any customer service for another 2hrs as they were busy. Despite two ladies sitting behind the desk and a smug bloke standing in front of them with a radio. I was told if I wanted to speak to someone I had to ring customer service.
They were equally unhelpful. No refunds and booked solid for the next 4 days. I could rebook my crossing for some time in the future, but there was a £30 rebooking fee. I walked straight over to the Brittany Ferries desk and gave them £380 to get me over to France that evening. They were fantastic, friendly and suggested a range of alternatives.
I returned (St Malo to Poole) using Condor Ferries and that was also a really bad experience. The sailing was full so there were no spare seats available. As a solo traveller that meant if I got up to use the toilet or facilities I lost my seat. I eventually found a seat, then had to disembark and re-board in Jersey to show my passport and lost that seat. I then spent 4hrs sat on a fixed stool.
I would describe Condor Ferries as a bit of an ordeal to travel and deal with and will be doing everything I can in future not to use them and dissuade others from using them also.
At least with EuroTunnel, DFDS, P&O and Brittany you get a level of flexibility, customer service, value and comfort.
I saw the advert on TV.
I saw the advert on TV on the 11/09/2023 for travel to Guernsey with condor ferries. I thought a trip to there spend two or three days a nice little break for the good lady and I. This is where the fun starts, I went onto the website put in the details two adults and a car crossing from Poole, not available, tried the same from Portsmouth, not available. Ok I thought let's try Jersey same business again two different departure points not available.
Then I tried for St.Malo not available. Why advertise it on TV and then have nothing available. I will give it a miss.
We were due to sail from Poole last…
We were due to sail from Poole last Saturday. Leaving our home with coach company 9.00 in the morning. Crossing cancelled and had to go to Portsmouth. We were picked up at 2.00 in the morning. Arrived at ferry in plenty of time. Had to book in and then wait 4 hours. Ferry arrived late and left late. 7 hours to get to Guernsey. 7 hours of people being sick. Trip back was to Poole that was late leaving, which meant we did not get into our hotel until 9.30. Information about what was happening very poor. NEVER AGAIN.
Absolute scandal, even lies from the captain
Absolute scandal. 7.45 am ferry from Poole. Put forward to 5.45 due to bad weather when the weather was at its worst at that time. Then they said they weren't going to Cherbourg in the end (due to an engine problem), and that to get us to Cherbourg we would go to Guernsey, wait 5 hours for a ferry to Jersey, then wait an hour (ended up being 2) for a ferry to St Malo. From where we presumably make our way to Cherbourg. Got to St Malo after midnight, having been up since 3 am to get to Poole for the 545 ferry. No apology or offer of compensation yet - it's been a week. Oh and the engine problem was invented, as we tracked the ferry going straight back to Poole after dropping us in Guernsey.
Trying to book a ferry now for weeks…
Trying to book a ferry now for weeks with Condor, no reply to emails and they don't answer the phones. Very poor service!
More staff training required
Shame they can't train there staff more with customer care I found them ignorant bossy and patronising I was at the end of my tether by the time I got back from a day trip to Guernsey the port staff at the Guernsey were paticularly rude
Couldn’t be bothered to open cabins
Caught the overnight ferry. Didn’t have much choice as availability of ferry’s was dismal.
Tried to book a cabin but couldn’t. Assumed they were all booked but when I got to the terminal actually there was very few passengers. I think they just couldn’t be bothered opening them.
Disgraceful when you consider people may face long onward tourneys after spending the night trying to sleep in a chair.
Arrived at condor ferries first time
Arrived at condor ferries first time - facilities rubbish - nothing to eat and a portacabin for a drink - expected much more - ferry delayed 40 mins so good start
Now on board and paid £35 each for the premium seat - tables mostly don’t face each other - so in pairs - no good re family games - seats nice but soft drinks / tea coffee and 1 packet of crisps only - not worth £20 let alone £35 - if buying seat - stick to horizon seat where you can sit together and face each other

The lack of communication is only equalled by its inability to comprehend plain and simple instructions.
I can only recommend that you use any other company than this one. I would suggest that renting an inflatable dingy would be better than this Shower of S***
Atrocious customer service attitude in…
Atrocious customer service attitude in Poole...brainless numpties who take glee in the fact that important information about prohibited items that can be carried as a foot passenger are hidden inside the length t and Cs rather than included on the main page about prohibited items. The idiot who insisted the information was contained on that page spent 5 minutes going up and down without finding it and then tried to suggest that dangerous items such as guns or knives being banned (obviously) should mean everyone should know that tiny camping gas cannisters were also banned (but not inside a vehicle). Rather than gleefully confiscating why not try to find a solution?
Don't Want My Cash? Then You Don't Want My Business.
I Have previously been a good customer Condor ferries I went to pay for my latest trip but was told they are now CASHLESS. Cash is LEGAL TENDER in the UK and Guernsey customers should have a choice how they pay. Refusing cash pushes everyone a step closer to a dystopian digital ID and currency. I would Boycott them if they were not a monopoly.
I Will say the people on the desk were good and this is a decision from high up. I urge everone to push their local deputies to make laws to stop a cashless society.
To make things worse they charge you a card processing fee when they did not give u a opertunity pay cash.
Corporate Monopoly are no good for anyone.
Never again will we travel Condorferries.
The experience was the pits. Customer service was non existent.
Never again will I use their “service”
Sailing was cancelled due to technical…
Sailing was cancelled due to technical fault and there wasn’t another one for 3 days, (jersey to Guernsey).
Which meant we would have missed our flight back to mainland. Have put a claim in for accommodation and food for 1 night as we managed to get a flight to Guernsey next day. Over 1 month later we have not heard anything (3emails later and claim form sent by proof of delivery which was received 17.5.23) still nothing. Can someone please help!!!!
Constantly late never a good…
Constantly late never a good explanation and is becoming the norm rather than occasional if you have the option fly !!!
