Dreadful company
We were unfortunate enough to have a Connells valuer come out to value our property. The guy was clueless and spent about five minutes looking at the house asked a couple of asinine questions and left.
They then valued the house 70 grand less than it was valued at two years ago. We then appealed the valuation providing an example of an exact same property on the street that sold for 70k more, as well as three other similar properties that sold in the previous year.
They then rejected the appeal because "there wasn't enough" evidence. We are lucky, this was just for a remortgage that would have tipped us into the better LTV. If you are trying to get a mortgage in the first place choose a provider that doesn't use Connells.

We are disappointed that you were not satisfied with the outcome of the valuation or appeal process. The valuation report was prepared for use by the mortgage lender who is our client and, therefore, we are legally restricted and cannot discuss this matter directly with you. However, it is our standard practice to review any valuation so as to ensure it is correct and robust.
We would point out that it is quite normal for a mortgage valuation figure to differ from a marketing appraisal as these are based on different scenarios. Every valuation is supported by appropriate and robust comparable sales evidence that has to satisfy strict minimum standards criteria. Our valuation reports are compliant with RICS regulations and they are regularly audited to ensure compliance with each individual lender’s policy and criteria. All our surveyors are highly trained professionals and each is required to adhere to RICS standards and ethics.
