We stayed at the Winch House at Church Cove which is a stunning location and I think that's what they rely on to draw people in.
The living room and kitchen on the first floor are fine but the bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor are very scruffy and badly in need of modernisation. As is the outside seating area.
The large windows in the main bedroom have been sealed shut but this does not prevent a major water leak when it rains! I reported it when we were there to the caretaker and the agency but neither responded to me.
I wrote a review which reflected our experience but they did not publish it! They clearly vet their reviews and only publish the positive ones!
It's such a shame as it would only require a little TLC to be absolutely perfect but I suspect they don't want to lose the revenue by making it unavailable to get this done.
There are other more ethical holiday agencies in Cornwall and I would not book with this one again.
I've made a booking with this company and wanted to extend my stay by a day but you can't actually speak to any advisors unless your making a new booking and have to send a message, bur no-one replies.
I will not be booking with this company again!!
Do not book via these guys as 0 responsibility held should there be an issue with the property!!
And the property would be telling you that it’s with the company you have booked that you should be seeking the compensation from so just pointing fingers!
We booked a luxury cottage where one bedroom was absolutely stunk of wet dog! Property could not resolve it during our stay - no wonder that carpet had to be ripped out probably…
If anything look to book directly with the property via their website!!

Minutes after I booked the initial reservation down payment I noticed the dates were wrong. So I tried to cancel within minutes and they said no refunds period. $ 333.00 for a couple of minutes. These people are thieves! They hide behind an unethical policy and if it isn’t illegal, should be! It all happed today!
Have been staying at six-jays apartment in Swanpool nr Falmouth every June for several years now , fantastic hosts , would highly recommend this lovely holiday apartment always very clean and nothing is too much trouble, everything you could want from a holiday apartment , fabulous welcome on arrival, owners are comfortable with our 2 dogs ,definitely give 5 stars in every respect
On approach to the cottage all looks good,until you drive down the rear to the paint is flaking off the side and rear wall also the garage doors very unsightly not a good impression.It makes the property look unsightly and dirty.Just because the front has been painted don’t think it is appealing probably, not the perfect Cornish cottage.The inside is musty smelling and needs some attention and updating.The stairs carpet is in need of replacing. We didn’t stay at the property we decided to travel back to Devon.
We have standard I would not recommend this holiday company or any of their properties after being told there wasn’t a visit to the property for inspection in the last 3 years. Someone is not doing their job and the greedy owner gets away with taking our money and won’t give us a refund. Please don’t let this happen to you we all deserve better.
As an owner, this company seem to go out of their way to be difficult to deal with. I took over management of a cottage following the death of my mother. They were completely unsympathetic during the process of obtaining a Grant of Probate. Once Probate had been granted, they added yet further complication to the process of selling the cottage and transferring bookings to the new owner. They are completely unprofessional and I would advise anyone to avoid them if at all possible.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!! This was the worst holiday we have experienced and by far the filthiest property we have ever stayed in! From the moment we walked through the door and started to see the muck and dirt everywhere, we felt uncomfortable! We contacted the 'property manager' who just replied saying she could come out and clean it again, yet she had already had over 8 hours to do so! The bed pillows were absolutely disgusting, full of yellow and brown stains yet they had even had the cheek to put pillow protectors on them? The floors hadn't been washed at all, the kitchen blind looked as though it had never been wiped, the cooker was so disgusting that we were unable to cook anything all week! The toaster smelt and was absolutely full of crumbs, not sure when that was last emptied? The shower was also a death trap, no shower mat provided and no grip handle inside, our daughter has a very serious fall and as a result, she was left in a lot of pain. The entire property required a full deep clean and in the current times of cleaners having extended hours to do this with covid rules being in place, we were disgusted that we were expected to stay in it! We left a day early, we never received a refund for the day either!! The holiday Company were no help what so ever, they never phoned back when they said they would, never responded to emails, just excuse after excuse when we phoned them! We will NEVER book with this Company or any others under Sykes again! It was quite frankly appalling, the service and aftercare is none existent! Nobody has even apologised over any of it either, the staff we did get through to on the phone were rude and obnoxious too, they had no intention of trying to help or sort the problems out!
Can’t thank the staff enough for all the help and advice this year, As an owner and a customer.
