More proactive choices

If you can select the package manually, you should contact the customer service every time you change it. Although your response speed is very fast, it is not as good as the selection on the page.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your review! We're in fact already working on the option that will allow you to upgrade (or downgrade) your bandwidth plan directly from the DataPacket client panel, so it's great to see that we're moving in the right direction.

This feature will be rolled out as part of a broader client panel upgrade, which we will inform you about via our newsletter. In the meantime, we'll be happy to continue filling your requests on an individual basis.

Best regards,

Second to none!

When we made our initial review of Datapacket we had only a couple of servers pushing out a moderate amount of bandwidth, we now a total of 11 servers and total customer satisfaction has been exceptional - growth has been steady and rare issues are resolved quickly and effectively with the networking and engineering team. Flexible trials have allowed us to test infrastructure and configurations so that we can clamp down on server configs with peace of mind. Outstanding customer service!

Total scam!

My server was removed from the account I own and the credentials were never mailed to me. I didn't even get to use the server and now it is no longer showing up. Stay away from these guys!!

DataPacket is a big balls provider

DataPacket has been the provider I can trust! Their support is consistently there and Simon is truly the bringer of joy! It feels like he's part of my team.

DataPacket is more expensive than other options, but you certainly get what you pay for. I love how they offer BGP communities; being able to control their massively powerful & protected network is so, so cool!

Thank you everyone @ DataPacket!

DDoS Protection

If DataPacket wants to be a serious DDoS protection provider they need to re-work their DDoS protection.
Otherwise their customer are going to move over to hosts like Tempest Hosting that offer much better protection.

DataPacket needs to implement a firewall manager in the Dashboard so you can limit to what you actually need to enter your server.
Ex: If you are using a TCP Application, drop UDP traffic to prevent UDP attacks from being effective.
Currently this isn't possible on DataPacket without a lengthy process and fee.

DataPacket also needs to implement a stateful Anti-DDoS solution. Symmetric filtering is important for stopping TCP-based attacks. Their current mitigation drops all active TCP connections which is extremely interruptive. A stateful anti-ddos setup can also benefit by improving overall protection by dropping out-of-state TCP packets.

Additionally DataPacket needs to implement layer 7 application-based filters to only allow certain application-based traffic from entering your server.

DataPacket has the potential to create a great Anti-DDoS product if they make the correct changes. Overall my experience with DataPacket has been good excluding the DDoS Protection.

Hello Edwin,

first of, I wanted to thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate to get any input from our customers, that can help us improve our services.

Secondly, I wanted to touch on the points you have raised.

Static firewall -> you are right, that is something, that our 24/7 support has to configure manually at the moment. Implementing a firewall management to our client panel is on the 2023 roadmap, thanks for confirming we are heading in the right direction.

Stateless/Stateful Anti-DDoS -> our current solution is actually stateful already. What you have described will be possible to influence in our client panel very soon, it will be implemented before the end of 2022.

L7 DDoS protection -> we are currently in process to develop a complex L7 Anti-DDoS for gaming and http/https servers, that we are planning to deploy in Q1/2023. We have to go application by application and see where the demand of our customers takes us in the future.

Thanks again for the review and we hope you will stay a DataPacket customer and will benefit from the planned improvements in the near future.

Best regards,
Simon

Appears to be excellent

I've had a server for over a week so far and some initial brief tests on it show both the server and network to be excellent.

Customer service has been fairly prompt and helpful in their responses by email. Sales have been accommodating, I wanted to order a server specification that sadly become out of stock temporarily. Rather than forcing me to wait they offered to provide a slightly higher specification for the same price as the original specification for one month, which I agreed to, by which time a migration could take place to the original specification if I decide to do so.

Unfortunately I've had a problem which at the moment my ISP is trying to resolve but I have a feeling it's a challenge for them. Basically my latency is higher than expected to Datapacket's network in London (18ms instead of around 4ms). This is caused by my ISP's unfortunate routing going via France and then back to London. My ISP however is trying to resolve this but has limited options to do so because they don't have a vast number of upstreams to allow them to take a different and hopefully local route.

From my brief time of using the server it appears to be excellent, other than my own connection to the DataPacket server currently. I don't currently use the server but hope to do so if my ISP can resolve this issue before the server's renewal is due. Pricing is perhaps a bit on the steep side but ultimately you also get what you pay for and should expect from a premium grade service.

If my ISP can't resolve the issue I mentioned above by the end of next week then I may have to consider terminating the server sadly and possibly returning in the future if my ISP has resolved the issue.

Hello Paul,

thanks a lot for your sincere review! I am really glad that you like our services so far. I have read your conversation with my colleague Jan and I truly hope, that your ISP will cooperate to improve the problem, that you have mentioned. Unfortunately, sometimes we encounter issues, that we cannot solve ourselves and need 3rd party involvement - like this one. Because of your understanding of this situation and to help you carry the costs of the wait, I have added credit to your account for one monthly renewal and I hope that will help bridging the time to keep our services until the issue is fixed.

All the best,
Simon

This is my second review about them

This is my second review about them. I cannot praise them enough - they go extra mile for you, communication is impressive and the guys behind the whole operation is top tier. I had a pleasure working with Jiri, Ondra and Simon - they all know what they are doing. We started with just IP transit and now they are our reliable partner for everything servers and network. We are in the process of moving our whole infrastructure to them.

You have a super bad support,

You have a super bad support,
The miss a lot of technical knowledge... they know how to speak only to give the customer the option to forget his problem
I'm a new customer, and you have a major network problem, and the support team don't know even how to start check the issue or my problem ...
Too much world's and speak and zero effect

Hello Diyab, I have reviewed your tickets and I see, that our network administrators have checked your uplinks, both server and switch settings and also verified iperf results and everything is as expected and we do not see any errors or packetloss anywhere. We have reached out to you for more information and we would love to find the problem you are having and help you fix it. If you would like a more direct way to reach our network administrators, we can create a Slack channel where you can chat in real-time to speed up the debugging process. Please let us know either via e-mail or chat and we will be happy to pick this up and help you be satisfied with our services.
