Extremely Disappointed – Poor Service for a "Premium" Brand

I had been looking forward to getting a De'Longhi bean-to-cup machine for a long time, so I was genuinely excited when it arrived. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned to total disappointment when the machine was faulty straight out of the box.
After contacting customer support, the fault was confirmed—but instead of sending a replacement right away, I was told I had to return the broken unit first.
While I understand that manufacturing defects happen, the resolution process has been frustratingly customer-unfriendly:

The Inconvenience: Through no fault of my own, I’ve had to repackage a large, heavy machine and take it to the Post Office myself.

The Delay: I now have to sit and wait for the faulty unit to be received and processed before a replacement is even dispatched, leaving me without the product I paid for.

I bought directly from De’Longhi expecting a premium product backed by premium customer service. Instead, what should have been an exciting purchase has turned into an annoying, deflating hassle. Very poor experience for a high-end brand.

Update…
Thanks Gemma - I have not received any comms. Ticket: 8019718 ECOM FAULTY RETURN

Good Afternoon,
I am so sorry to hear about your experience—especially after being so excited to welcome a De'Longhi coffee machine into your home. Expecting a seamless first brew and instead having to repackage a heavy unit and wait for a replacement falls far short of the premium service we strive to deliver.

We want to make this process as smooth as possible and ensure you are taken care of without further delay. We have reached out to you directly for further information so we can personally track your return and expedite your replacement machine.
EDIT
Hi, I am delighted to advise our team should have now been in direct contact with you and your issue resolved.

I don’t even know where to start… I…

I don’t even know where to start… I ordered a AC unit at the end of June, and asked them what the return conditions would be in case the unit wouldn’t be suitable for my flat - they responded “no worries we cancelled your order”. That was not my request, and as you can imagine it was impossible to get another unit - for a while…

A few days ago, I managed to secure one, delivery took 8 days rather than 1-3 as advertised on their website. I’m not sure how they selected that delivery company, BJS Home delivery, never heard of them before and it’s been the most terrible experience.

They sent me a time window 2 days before, I directly asked if it could be rescheduled - they were like nope. I cancelled my weekend away to be home for this (desperate times for AC!), stayed home all day - the two delivery men said I refused the delivery?! 😂 they’re now unable to re-deliver it without instruction from De Longhi.

I called De Longhi, who said they can’t re-instruct them to redeliver it as their website is down. How is that my problem, I do not know… they said the request was passed onto their e-commerce team but they usually take 1 week to action it, by then - the AC should either be returned to De Longhi, or given up by the courrier.

The kind agent on the phone couldn’t do much more, but I raised that it’s not my responsibility as a customer to face these - she apologised and understood, and said there’s nothing else to do.

Here we are - one of the worst experiences I’ve had!

There is no option to order online with VAT and No Support in Greece

There is no option to order online and issue an invoice with VAT for Greece. Tried the customer service in Greece and they have only one person and its on Vacations for 4weeks in a row! So that needs currently NO support and what kind of support do you expect from 1 person! That is ridiculous for such a big company as Delonghi! Also no European support via chat etc...

Terrible customer service and defective product

Bought a Rivelia coffee machine, it was leaking underneath from Day 1. Customer service ignoring requests for replacement, only interest in refunding a defective and dangerous product and having me rebuy at a more expensive price. Will not be buying from them directly again.

We are so sorry to hear about the frustration you’ve experienced with your new Rivelia machine and your recent interactions with our customer care team. Rivelia delivers!

I've thoroughly enjoyed my Rivelia. I've made every option, adjusted each to my liking, and saved them. The milk frother also delivers as designed. I hope the machine lasts a long time because I love my coffees and so do my friends!

The website is horrible

The website is horrible, I had to reload it more than 50 times as it kept crashing. It ruins the whole experience of ordering. I cannot reach to support because of the same problem. Their products are outstanding but their website is outdated.

Poor customer service, broken portable air conditioner.

The portable air conditioner took approximately ten days to be delivered, the websites specified three at the time of ordering.

The item arrived in damaged packaging and upside down.

As a precaution I left the item 24hrs before switching on, and not surprisingly it did not work.

I contacted De’Longhi, who arranged collection the following day. This annoyed me considering the disappointing delivery time.

A few days later I was told a replacement was not available and refund would be issued within the next ten working days.

No attempt was made by De’Longhi to make good on their poor service or product, I'm very disappointed.

Great Product, Great Price

Although the website can be a little confusing to compare products initially.

Managed to muddle through and find exactly the types of product we were looking for, and chose to get an older higher end model on a heavy discount, which has been amazing, rather than a newer model, delivery was fast and arrived exactly as advertised.

★☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing

★☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing – Expensive Product, Poor Reliability and Terrible After-Sales Support

I purchased the De’Longhi Pinguino EX100 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner from Currys for approximately £999.99 expecting a premium, reliable air conditioning unit from a well-known manufacturer. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing from both a product reliability and customer service perspective.

The unit worked for only around three years before developing a serious fault. When switched on in cooling mode, the compressor starts normally but shuts down after approximately one minute with an audible click, while the fan continues running. As a result, the machine no longer produces any cold air and is effectively unusable.

Poor Customer Service – Currys and De’Longhi Passing Responsibility

What made this experience even worse was the complete lack of support from both Currys and De’Longhi, who simply refused to take responsibility and kept redirecting me back and forth.

* I first contacted Currys, as I purchased the unit from them.
* Currys immediately washed their hands of the issue, stating that I needed to contact the manufacturer directly.
* I then contacted De’Longhi, expecting technical assistance or at least guidance on repair options.
* De’Longhi then sent me back to Currys, stating that because the product was purchased through a retailer, they could not assist further in any meaningful way.

In short, I was left completely stuck between the two companies, with neither willing to take ownership of the problem. For a premium product costing nearly £1,000, this level of customer service is unacceptable.

No Practical Repair Support

De’Longhi also provided no real solution beyond stating that:

* the standard warranty had expired;
* they could not recommend or arrange an authorised F-Gas certified engineer;
* I would need to find and pay for a specialist engineer myself;
* if I wanted to pursue consumer rights, I would first need to pay for an independent engineer’s report.

This effectively shifts all responsibility and cost onto the customer, even for diagnosing the fault.

Expensive and Difficult to Repair

The most frustrating aspect is that portable air conditioners require engineers certified to handle refrigerants \(F\-Gas qualified\). In practice, this makes repairs extremely difficult:

* Many engineers will not inspect domestic portable units;
* Those who do are expensive;
* Diagnosis alone can cost a significant amount;
* Repairs may quickly become uneconomical compared to replacement.

As a result, consumers are left with a very expensive appliance that can become effectively disposable after only a few years.

Reliability Concerns

While the cooling performance was satisfactory when the unit worked, reliability is just as important. A product at this price point should reasonably be expected to last significantly longer than three years without a major failure.

After researching online, I also found other customers reporting similar issues such as compressor failure, loss of cooling shortly after the warranty period, and difficulty obtaining support or repairs, suggesting this may not be an isolated case.

Pros

* Effective cooling when operational.
* Relatively quiet compared with some portable air conditioners.
* Simple controls and decent design.

Cons

* Major failure after only around three years.
* Compressor shuts down shortly after starting.
* No cooling once the fault occurs.
* Extremely poor after-sales support from both Currys and De’Longhi.
* Both companies pass responsibility back and forth, leaving the customer stuck.
* Expensive product for the level of reliability provided.
* Difficult and costly repair process due to F-Gas requirements.
* Consumers left to source and pay for specialist engineers themselves.

Final Verdict

Overall, I cannot recommend this product. For a premium-priced portable air conditioner, I expected far better durability and significantly stronger after-sales support. The combination of early failure, lack of repair assistance, and both Currys and De’Longhi refusing responsibility makes this a very frustrating and disappointing purchase.

Based on my experience, I would not buy this model again and would choose a different manufacturer next time.

Excellent Customer Service!!! Which Best Buy Espresso Machines!

I have had a De'longhi Espresso machine for a while now and unfortunately had a problem with the machine and in order to resolve the problem, I had to get in touch with De'Longhi which was very easy to do with their phone number being easily located on their website!!! This is always so welcome in this day & age when so many companies do not have a dedicated phone line. I was able to get through within a few minutes and did not have to wait to speak to someone. After the call, I was updated by email which again is a sign of good customer service... some companies now only use WhatsApp or some other app, and I have found this type of communication unsatisfactory - I want an email trail in my email inbox. My problem was totally resolved to my satisfaction, and I also want to note that Which Magazine has only 2 best buy Espresso Machines between £100-£300 for 2026 and both of these are De'Longhi!!! A Which Best Buy Product with customer confirmed Excellent Customer Service - What more could you ask for? Thanks De'Longhi!!!

Sent fully intact machine due to blocked nozzles and received DAMAGED machine.

On 29/05/2026, my partner bought me as a gift your Magnifica Plus automatic coffee maker, model ECAM322.70.SB. On 16/06/2026 we contacted them to report that the milk frother nozzles were not working. We ran the descaling process at least three times and emailed them all requested information but received no reply. When I called again, they asked us to repeat the descaling and cleaning processes. At that point, I had already used up my supply of descaling liquid for the next six months, but I did it anyway. There was no change, and the milk frother nozzles still did not work.
They then scheduled a collection for 26/06, but I was unavailable. I called back and arranged to drop off the machine at the nearest collection point. They sent me specific, detailed packing instructions, which I followed completely. Meanwhile, my partner received automated emails stating the machine was being repaired by their skilled engineers. On 10/07/2026, I finally received the coffee machine back. Within minutes of opening the parcel, I called them back. The machine came back missing half the protective packing required by your instructions, and it was broken. The side panel above the water tank was damaged—it looked like someone had forced and bent the panel. Furthermore, the machine was dirty and stained. They requested photos, which I emailed to them. They sent another QR code for a drop-off, and I dropped the machine off at the nearest point on 11/07. Just like before, I received emails claiming the machine was in the good hands of their skilled engineers. Yesterday, I received the second return, and the machine is even more broken. Once again, the packaging lacked the protection required by their instructions, and someone literally put tape over the side of the panel that their engineers broke the first time. This is totally NOT acceptable. This has caused me so much stress. I have been left without a coffee machine for nearly two months. I sent them fully intact machine, and they returned a DAMAGED machine.
I called them, and they raised another ticket and they again requested a photo. I did not hear from them since. This is just beyond ridiculous.

Absolutely appalling customer service

I genuinely have no words for how badly De'Longhi has handled what should have been a straightforward repair.

My coffee machine was posted to De'Longhi FIVE WEEKS AGO for repair. Since then, it has been an endless cycle of delays, confusion and contradictory information.

The machine was originally sent to the wrong repair centre. After weeks of delays and chasing for updates, I was eventually told that the repair centre couldn't even inspect my model and that the machine would be returned.

I then contacted De'Longhi Head Office, who acknowledged the mistakes and promised to personally take ownership of my case. I was explicitly told that my machine was being transferred directly to the correct specialist Warranty Repair Centre, and that I would be updated as soon as it arrived and was checked in.

That was six days ago.

I heard nothing.

So I called De'Longhi again today, only to discover that the machine has somehow been sent to the WRONG REPAIR CENTRE AGAIN!!!

Yes, you read that correctly. After De'Longhi specifically took ownership of the case and promised to ensure this wouldn't happen again, they have apparently managed to send my machine to the wrong place for a second time.

The customer service representative I spoke to didn't know how this had happened. They now have to contact the courier and "investigate" where things went wrong.

At this point, it has been five weeks since I posted my machine to De'Longhi, and I still don't have it back. I have absolutely no confidence that anyone at De'Longhi actually knows where it is or what is happening to it.

This isn't a minor inconvenience anymore. This is an extraordinary level of incompetence and a complete failure of customer service.

Mistakes happen. But when the same mistake happens twice, after Head Office has personally promised to take ownership and prevent it from happening again, it becomes completely unacceptable.

I bought a De'Longhi expecting a premium product and a reasonable level of after-sales support. Instead, I've spent five weeks chasing the company to locate my own machine while it is repeatedly sent to the wrong place.

I would give zero stars if Trustpilot allowed me to.

The incompetence continues

Update on preview review.
In summary, I bought an air con unit, which was delivered much later than stated and turned out to be the wrong unit. I was sent an inferior model, with missing parts.
Contacted customer service and was eventually told that the incorrect model would be collected and the correct one delivered. I emailed to ask when the new one would be supplied. No response to my questions. Checked on the website and the correct model that they are supposed to be delivering is out of stock. Emailed again. They eventually admitted it was out of stock and they would collect the incorrect unit and refund. This of course means me staying at home for another day for it to be collected. I have no confidence at all that this will actually happen,
It just gets worse and worse. Honestly, I can’t believe the level of incompetence this supposedly’reputable’ company has.

I am so sorry for the severe frustration and disruption caused by receiving the wrong air conditioning unit, missing parts, and the complete lack of clear communication from our team. Expecting a smooth order and instead having to rearrange your schedule to deal with wrong items and out-of-stock delays falls far short of the service you should receive from us.
