It all started with women’s pyjamas. Now we make them for men and kids too, plus a handful of other snazzy things for around the home, like slippers, socks, and extra-deluxe robes.
Each collection brings with its prints. Each print is an artwork in its own right, inspired by travel and by life— Spanish palm, Greek myths, graceful tigers—hand-painted in our London studio. They’re printed onto organic cotton, hand-cut and sewn in Portugal. We then wrap them

- We always want our PJs to offer a sense of cosiness and ease, but this year—of all years—we want to take things up a notch. We believe that proper pyjamas are what butter is to toast. A way of turning something quite ordinary into something quite magical. We've been making fancy pyjamas since 2014. Our latest collection, LoveSleeps, has just launched. A collection that was inspired by a Monastery and a Temple, on an island off the coast of Naples - Ischia. Joel and Molly, visited in August 2024 for a long weekend and were so moved by the space, by the quiet and creativity that came from rest that our studio has created not only a new seasonal collection, but a new chapter and calling card for D&D: “and on the seventh day there was rest”. The collection pays ode to the heavenly parts of rest. The freedom it allows our minds. It’s also an homage to the summer days that we pray last forever but eventually become a dream. Shocking customer service - I had an email exchange backwards and forwards until the issue of a gift in the wrong size was resolved. It should have been a simple process.

I have been very impressed with D&D’s…
I have been very impressed with D&D’s product quality and service overall since the very first order. We first purchased my husband a pair of pajama pants. The cotton is lovely and soft. The prints are really fun. We’ve since purchased him two further pairs and I also got myself a night slip.
When I purchased another night slip in the same cut and size in the archival sale that fit quite differently, the return process was simple and straightforward. We are huge fans.

You’re not paying for quality or fabric - just the marketing budget, beware
I ordered my pajamas about a month ago, a long leopard print nightgown. Wonderfully soft. Im a size 8 so ordered a small for comfort. Initially too big in the bust despite being on smallest straps so figured I’d need to get my needle and thread to adjust for myself. Un/Fortunately my husband did the laundry and washed my gown with regular laundry rather than delicates so it shrunk a bit resolving my alteration issue positively.
However I’m writing now having worn and washed the PJs multiple times in a month and am sad to report that I wish I hadn’t spent £100 on these PJs. It’s embarrassing I spent that much. They’ve torn once at the seam while rolling over in bed and once on the fabric when I’ve stood up. So lovely soft but VERY thin pajamas. Definitely don’t know what the £100 is for as it’s not fabric or craftsmanship so that just leaves design and marketing. I’m summary they won’t last if you actually try and sleep or move about at home in them.

I absolutely love Desmond and Dempsey
I absolutely love Desmond and Dempsey. I have numerous pjs from this company and love them all. The cotton is crisp and soft and the colors stay bright wash after wash. They are also super fun and comfortable and I find myself lounging in them on lazy days.
I recently returned something for the first time and it was super easy. The charge for international return shipping was nominal- a pleasant surprise.
Truly my favorite place to buy pjs!

Change of materials
Change of materials, not all their women’s items are 100% cotton which is not as nice to sleep in especially when it is hot. My husband bought them for me thinking they were the same as my previous ones. Just beware if you want them to be soft.

Faulty product and no replacement
Faulty product and no replacement
I ordered a pyjama set as a birthday present and after one wear the stitching on the shorts came apart, I contacted customer service asking for a replacement or a credit note so I could repurchase and after an initial quick response was left waiting a few days to eventually receive a credit note for just a small percentage of what I paid (less than half) - meaning I'd be out of pocket if I purchased a replacement. After contacting them again to ask for a replacement and chasing after seeing the product only had one left in stock I've still received no reply. So I'm now left with a pair of pyjamas falling apart and no replacement or full credit note to repurchase- how is this acceptable?

The detailed communication, quick shipping and beautiful packaging were all spot-on but the towel robe isn’t what I expected. It just doesn’t look like the photos. Perhaps I should have purchased a different style.

Overhyped and overpriced
Overhyped and overpriced. The cut of the nighties is bizarre - the square shape is so enormous, it just gapes everywhere (and that’s going down two sizes). The slip nightie is shapeless and cut so that, even with the straps fully tightened, it flaps around at the front. Perhaps the worst thing I discovered is that they don’t use any critical reviews on their website, so that the impression is one of delighted customers. Very bad practice.
