ABSOLUTE CON MERCHANTS

I’m not going to waste valuable time in my life to waffle on about these crooks.
They are all so obnoxious, intimidating, underhanded, (and not forgetting ugly) thieves.
If you like writing similar reviews, well go and hire a car from them.

Very poor services and swindled!

Really, really bad customer service. Details of the putative contract re insurance only issued on the morning of our flight.
Totally ripped us off, charging double the petrol price. The car was scratched and clearly not looked after.
The sales guy was very abrupt.

Fraudsters, plain and simple!!!! DON'T USE!!!!

We purchased car hire through Easycar prior to our travel from Gatwick to Spain. As always we decided to purchase car hire insurance/excess protection from a third party company which has never been a problem.

Balance of the car hire was cleared completely with Easycar before travelling to Spain, however when we arrived at the car hire company desk in Spain (Dickmanns) we were ordered to pay an extra £98 before we were allowed to even take the car away.

This extra fee apparently was for insurance, however when we explained we didn't want to buy insurance and intended to leave a 1000 euro deposit (as normal) they refused.

We payed as it was the only way we could get the keys. When we arrived back in the UK and complained to Easycar, they firstly took over a month to even respond but to make matters worse they stated "According to the hire company you were happy to pay the extra fee and therefore there is nothing we can do".

My advise is to steer clear of Dickmanns AND Easycar, their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced and they outright rip customers off!

Avoid Dickmanns at ALL COSTS

In my opinion, a dishonest company. If you arrive supposedly "out of hours" they refer to small print in the terms and conditions and charge you various charges.

The car provided was dirty, the air con hardly cools, the car was dented. Sent several emails and not even the decency to respond.

I will NEVER use this company again. I would urge people to use other companies, pay more if required, Dickmanns are awful.

Dont usr this gang of fraudsters...charged me 350 euro for a mark barely visable on an old car.Hostile and aggressive when challenged.That was the gang near alicante airport.NEVER again.Have emailed their customer complaint dept a number of times without reply..

If I could I would leave a negative…

If I could I would leave a negative star review.
Recently I rented a car from Dickmans Alicante. I thought it was unlimited mileage. My fault. I did 825 kms more than the 2000 limit.
Dickmans charged me 1100 Euros. Yes 1100 Euros!!!!
According to their website the charge should be 0.4 euros per km which equates to 330 euros.
Also the never returned my petrol money despite me returning car full. It was full to full.
And also charged 36.50 for something.
In total 1224.45 Euros!!!!!
They ignore my e mails and never answer the phone.
Avoid at all costs.

Awful service

Awful service. Was waiting over an hour for a shuttle bus from airport. Had to ring them to do a run. When we did make it to the office we were just over 2 hrs late so cancelled our booking. Charged us 6 times the original cost with the original paid. Rude fraudsters NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Would prefer to give NO STAR but that option is not available. Never received my fuel refund after contacting them several times via email and phone. They constantly hung up on me. Said they would transfer money but never did. DO NOT USE. THEY ARE CRIMINALS.

just been confirmed from visa dickmanns had taken 340 out of my credit card i complained to VISA not dickmanns visa returned money same 24 hrs said they would ask Dickmanns to explain they had no excussthey tried to justify how ever Visa have now confirmed they did not have the rite to take any money Please write to visa tell them to stop dealing with Dickmanns they are villans they take peoples money .If you go to murcia airport tell any one at the dickmanns van that they use as office not to hire they are so bad wish some one would have warned me Message to Dicksman stop trading you are rubish in the uk you would be prosicuted

Felt like we were being scammed as the man said we should not buy DYS third party insurance - couldn't believe what we were hearing
Refused their insurance
Car scratched down one side
No trust in Dickmanns at all
Please try and avoid
Have complained to DYS and Dickmanns immediately - DYS spoke to us immediately, yet nothing from Dickmanns

I have used Dickmann's for 6 years with…

I have used Dickmann's for 6 years with out any issues until June 2018
The service was excellent but as with others that have left reviews I have never received my Fuel deposit
I contacted them by phone twice the second time I had an email requesting my bank details which I supplied so that they could deposit the refund but this has never been paid, (3 months now)
I will never use them again until they refund me the money owed to me

Have Dickmanns Changed ?

As the total rental Inc fuel loss was less than 10euros a day I gave up and put it down experience . Low and behold 6 months later I get a phone call then monies are back in my account . Only fair after all the negatives I post a positive ! Maybe they are under new ownership or realise they are getting no repeat business

Excess insurance charged again. Not unlimited mileage in base cost.

We like to explore and on each trip try to include a few days in far flung places.
For us unlimited mileage has always been an important consideration.
Last year (2017) we hired as usual (we always take out the excess insurance so there is no deposit/block on our cards), I notivpced however that we wouls have to bring the car back before the 2000km mark or be charged €1 per km above that.
Our planned journey coincided with us reaching 1400km and I phoned to explain that there was every likely hood we would reach 2000km while out of the area. I was told to bring it in before we went away or pay the €1 per km.
I arrived early that morning and took a photo of the mileage to ensure a record and was told I would have to take out the excess insurance again to cover the remaining days of our hire. (In fact depending on how much you travel round at every 2000 km you have to take out the insurance again).
This process did not even require the guy at the desk to stand up as he looked at my photo of the dash stats.
There wasnt even added paperwork aa the paperwork we had stated we had paid.... I did ask but all I got was the card reader receipt.
I was really angry as they were charging me twice for the excess insurance. It isnt obvious and they dont explain it when you pick up.
Bear it in mind when using them.

Absolute shocking avoid at all…

Absolute shocking avoid at all costs,charged my cc for damges to the car after i returned home, never even notified me about it, trying to claim back as i have excess insurance but to no avail they keep hanging up and don't return calls or emails, its a shame this company is allowed to trade its the biggest scam ive ever seen they know all the tricks to fleece you don't bother with them.

Avoid these charlatans

Avoid these charlatans. They still haven’t refunded my fuel deposit despite several e mails.

Now they state that they cannot refund a credit card and need my bank details. Yeah right.

Like a previous review said a real shame as the actual car hire experience was excellent.

Car hired from a chip van in Murcia Airport. I should have known!!

They still owe me 1500 euros deposit…

They still owe me 1500 euros deposit from August 2017 and I've had to involve a solicitor to try and get the money back...... Another friend had to get his card company involved over the fact they charged him twice for the fuel and he even took it back full.

So bad we cancelled at pick-up…

So bad we cancelled at the pick-up office, lost the deposit we paid and went back to the airport to rent from another company.

- €15 because we hadn’t printed the rental voucher - it’s 2018 and we’re trying to save trees! No mention of this on the booking confirmation.

- €35 to refuel the car, plus fuel. No mention of this on the booking confirmation.

- Credit card for deposit must use a PIN. What if yours is signature when out of country of residence? No mention of this on the booking confirmation, and only option was to take their extortionate insurance.

And to top it off, more than an hour’s wait at the pick-up desk (not much fun with six children in tow).

Never again.

I used Dickmans for some years…never again

I used Dickmans for some years relatively successfully and all the reviewers saying "didn't know not on airport" etc etc i suggest you read the material! However i think something has changed. In around Nov 2017 we picked up car; dark at about 11:45 pm and with torch/phone light difficult to inspect car but since no problems before not a big issue. When we returned the car some weeks later at 3pm in sun light we were confronted by a staff member who clearly had a bad day and was rude regardless of anything else. He found a blemish on the car, not even a scratch but like someone had removed some lacquer around 10 cm in a semi-cricle. 1.It was hardly possible to see in bright sunlight let alone dark 2.We dont think we did it of course and could hardly see how touching another car could have done it 3.If i took into a garage would have taken ab out 5 pounds to just buff up...instead it cost 170 pounds!!!!!. Also no proof ever done - 10:1 they never did did it. Complained to guy who just snatched paper work from me. Went through complains process which could be summarised as 'touch s**t'; went through credit card company which could be summarised as 'tough luck'. Don#t use this company despite being cheap. Use some one like Record or OK...much more professional i found since. Also recommend to take a yearly excess insurance for around 40 pounds. I will continue chasing through the financial ombudsman and notify Spanish government consumer services as mentioned elsewhere
