Lucky with Dickmanns
Considering all the BAD reviews regarding Dickmanns, I feel lucky in getting my 950 Euros back despite the inconvenience and charges incurred. I hired a car on December 10th 2016 and returned it on 31st December 2016. They took 950 Euros on the 10th December. On discovering the debit balance in January, I went to the local office in Los Alcazares who informed me that the money would be repaid after 28 days. Suffice to say that it was not and after 3 visits to the office in Los Alcazares, a number of emails to Dickmanns and contact with DoYouSpain.com, I received money into my bank account on 30th January 2017 with a 'Sorry for the inconvenience caused'. Had I not been located near the office in Los Alcazares, I think I would still be chasing my money. Thanks also to DoYouSpain.com in getting involved. I now deselect them (Dickmanns) when using a comparison website and suggest that DoYouSpain.com should consider not listing them.
Dickmanns, a bad experience...
We hired through Atlas, Dickmanns Car Hire, never again. Getting back Deposit not easy but using Section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 Claim made to Credit Card Company full "Sterling" refund made within 30 Days. Also Dickmanns "alleged" that Atlas had not paid them and therefore used our Card again to claim this. Again we just used the above and received within the 30 days a full "sterling" refund. The CC Company used "chargeback" to claim monies back to comply with their Section 75 liabilities. We returned the car 1st November and our monies were returned in January. Once you notify your CC Company the disputed amount will not incur interest liability on your CC account. Please do not use Dickmanns, nobody should have to have to resolve problems like this after hiring a car. I hope the above helps people reclaim their monies more easily.

I didn't read the reviews on this company before I hired a car from them (through do you Spain) in early November and that was a mistake.
were now nearly 3 months down the line and the 950 euro security deposit they took out of my credit card still hasn't been returned and every email I send them is given the same reply, your enquiry has been forwarded to accounts and will be dealt with asap.
I would also add if hiring a car from Alicante airport this is not easy to find as its way off airport especially when returning the vehicle, but if you've got any sense you wont be using them anyway!
Trying to rip me off
Having hired a car on 24th January 2016, I reported that there were three dents in the roof, and one on the bumper. The hire clerk said he was aware of these, and not to worry. Having now returned the car, they are trying to take 600 euros from my credit card to repair the roof. This is scandalous, and Dickmanns should be avoided at all costs.
Do not use
If I could give a zero I would.
In short:
- They refused to recognise the existing full cover I paid through their online partner so had to pay an additional 1000 euros for full and full cover
- The car was fine, but dirty
- They have a 28 working day period in which they hold your money for
- Dickmanns never returned my money from Septemeber 17th 16 to Jan 17
- Dickmanns made an illegal transaction and charged me an additional £40 three months after my rental
- They supposedly refunded me but no money was returned and they blamed my bank. I checked and no transaction was pending, Dickmanns would supply no further information after this alleged transfer
- Thankfully my credit card company have intervened and credited the full amount back to me
- They are extremely rude and their customer service is appalling

Problems to get your deposit back
Getting my paid € 950,- deposit back was is a big adventure. So many mails (and even a visit at their Alicante desk, with a over 100km drive) and phone calls further and still did not receive my deposit back. Mostly unfair how they deal with their clients. I should have received it back for about two months ago. The maximum is time was 28 working days after bringing the car back. The car was brought back in beginning October 2016, now it is January 2017 and still not satisfied solution.
The most criminal car hire company
The most criminal car hire company I've ever come across. They stole money from my bank account 4 months later and I did NOT owe them anything. Never ever do any business with them, you just might loose all you've got. I'm on the line now to my bank to block them from stealing more.
This will go on every blog and agent I can find to expose them.
Took money from my card over 6 months later
Getting the £1000-ish deposit back was a nightmare. They took FAR longer than the advertised and promised time. But I did get my money back - some 6 weeks after. I hired the car in June/July.
Checked my credit card statement a few days a go to find they had taken about £80 without my consent and didn't even let me know they were doing so. Just lucky I checked my statement.
Do not use this company. At all.

Horrific company with rude and aggressive staff
Horrific is all that can be said about this company. I took out independent insurance which I will probably now have to claim on.
Picked up the car after getting the "courtesy" bus (filthy inside) the 4 miles to their off site office. Javier the customer service man (one of the least courteous people you will ever meet) was fine at first but became angry and aggressive when I said I wasn't talking their insurance. My wife was upset and distressed by his aggressive behaviour.
I took photos of all chips and scratches and immediately emailed them to myself.
On returning the car javier was true to form and almost crawled under the car to find an old scrape on the front skirt. Obviously an old trick of his and despite me getting under the car and photographing said scrape and showing him how old it was he says I will be charged for it.
DO NOT GO NEAR Dickmans they are rude nasty and aggressive. If you do photograph every blemish on the car and email it to yourself proving when you took them. The poor couple who were in front of me were charged a full day rent €35 for being 1/2 an hour late. Dickmans you are a DISGRACE.

waiting for my deposit to be returned form Dickmanns. sent e mails and been told deposit is with accounts and will be returned soon. They then took without my authority £100.08 from my account. It took two e mails to get a reply. The agent Atlas choice has not paid them so took money from me. Illegal. now with my credit card company who are investigating Dickmanns.

Horrendous experience DO NOT USE
Like previous customers we returned our hired car on 30/10/2016 and we are still waiting on them returning our deposit. 1048 Euros taken from our credit card on the 10/10/2016 with a promise it would be refunded within 3 weeks. No response from our emails and Atlas Choice the broker we used were as helpful as a chocolate teapot. We have had to open a transaction dispute with our credit card company who informed us that on the 15/12/2016 Dickmanns withdrew another £150! Time these cowboys were shut down and all companies affiliated with them. They should also be prosecuted for theft which we will be pursuing as they had no right helping themselves to more money from my credit card. UPDATE have received an email from Dickmanns 20/12/2016 "this pending refund has been passed on to accounting to check and process". Awaiting with bated breath!

I hired a car from Dickmanns in October 2016. I had my own excess insurance so did not require theirs. They swiped my MasterCard for 950 euros which is normally blocked as is the normal practice with all the other rental companies. The 950 euros was taken from my account and I was told it would be refunded within 5 days on return of the car. I returned the car on the 26th October and it was signed off.
Despite numerous phone calls and emails I had no success in having the cash refunded until today, 20th December. They have had my cash a total of 55 days illegally. The rental was made through Do You Spain. I made them aware of the situation but were unhelpful. Be warned do not use this company (Dickmanns) under any circumstances as they are crooks.

Worst company I have ever used in my 35 years of renting cars
I put a review on trust pilot about Dickmanns early November when I rented the car for my 4 day visit to Alicante. I thought it was cheaper to hire the car to get to my friends in James than take the bus there and back. I never used the car in James whilst I was there. How wrong I was 2 months later I am still waiting for my £989 refund over €1000. Yes just like everyone else on these reviews they said the refund would be automatic. What big fat liars they are and the staff are disgusting people with absolutely no customer service skills. But the reason why I am posting this again is to be very aware . 2 MONTHS LATER THEY HAVE TAKEN MORE MONEY FROM MY CREDIT CARD. I have not been anywhere near this dispicable company since beginning of November so what have they taken the money for ? I heard it is because of the company that I booked through in England are having financial difficulty so they want to reclaim some of the money so they are taking money from other clients credit cards to recuperate their money without permission . How dare they. Tomorrow I am calling the Spanish consumer board. Hopefully this company will get closed down soon so they cannot then treat people this way. It is very stressful
Absolutely Vile Experience
Turned up to get a car I didn't ask for - horrendous to drive. I filled the petrol back up to the top and lost over £20 in admin and transaction fees, apparently. Promised there is nothing like this when I get my 950 euros back...over THREE months to get this back and it was nothing to do with Dickmanns, I had to go through the broker at Atlas Choice. Surprise surprise, over £100 less than what I'd paid. Absolutely given up by this point and took it as a lesson learnt.
It is now 17th December and I've logged into my credit card and they've taken another £87 ! I haven't had a hire car from them since August, what on earth are they playing at?!?
