We have just come back from a lovely week in Malta staying at the Mayflower hotel. After finally meeting two team members from Discover Access they were friendly, polite and explained previous questi... See more

As another reviewer has written, we were approached by 'Magic Mike' with the promise of free sightseeing tour bus tickets, a necklace and a tote bag in exchange for reviewing their 'new' hotel, The Mayflower. This turned into a long, drawn out attempt to scam us into joining a members club, aka timeshare (which they're adamant they're not, but they are). We spent almost an hour being questioned, passed from one person to another and having our time completely wasted.
When we attempted to leave, we were surrounded by 4 of their staff and had to insist loudly to leave us alone and we wanted to go. Hugh in particular was very unpleasant indeed, quite intimidating and aggressive (though he appeared to be some sort of manager). The promised bus tour tickets and gifts were flatly refused because we did not want to buy into their holiday scheme, though we had spent over an hour which was (after some time) the amount of time we were informed we needed to spend with them to qualify for the promised tickets. An absolute scam. Very unpleasant, false, dubious people.
Do not fall for this! If it sounds too good to be true, that's because it is tomorrow good to be true! Lesson learned. Stay well away. Do not trust.

We were accosted by a Discover Access rep, ‘Magic Mike’ from Leicester on on our way to Bugibba bus station on 24th March 2025 with the promise of a free hop-on-hop-off bus tour if we went for a presentation of 1 hr at the nearby Mayflower Hotel, this would earn ‘Magic Mike’ £10. We went to the Mayflower Hotel with ‘Magic Mike’ and registered with the receptionist. We were ushered into a presentation room populated with sales reps, and Alex from Glasgow introduced himself to us. Alex gave us a meandering presentation starting of with the state of waste management and health and safety in Malta, and that was the best bit of his presentation. Our time with Discover Access was mercifully was punctuated by complimentary hot drinks, after two hours we really had little idea what Discover Access was all about, we were told that we could have a week for £100 and a week for nothing. During our tour of the hotel with Alex, he asked us what we thought of the Mayflower Hotel, and we both said it was like Premier Inn on sea, no insult intended because we use Premier Inn all the time, but Alex was a bit put out. Tour over, we went back to the presentation room to be joined by the Scottish boss, Hugh ‘just call me Shuggie’, then the hard sell started, Shuggie wrote down figures suddenly totalling £1,200 for a a holiday a year in advance, our choice, but a shock from the £100 a week, and we had to commit there and then with a deposit and a payment plan, We politely declined and Alex took us back to the reception where we got our tote bag, Maltese cross jewelry, and bus tour tickets. Bus tour OK, but not worth the two hours presentation, be wary of reps offering free gifts near Bugibba bus station.

We were accosted by a rep from this company to basically “get a free gift and leave after an hour presentation at the mayflower hotel” simply put. We went ahead and went to the hotel where we met a lovely sales rep who guided us through the holiday discount offer, however after almost 2 hours of discussion we were then passed onto his boss- a Scottish man (unsure of his name) who was very hard sell approach pressuring us to “leave a deposit now” with no option for myself and my partner to discuss the proposal before we committed to leaving a deposit. His arrogant, abrupt approach with us was a step too far and we left saying we would definately complain about his lack of customer service and very hard sell salesmanship but we can’t seem to find a complaints email in order to do so. Hard sell, pressured company with a terrible leader at its core. Be warned do not get bullied into signing anything with this company before you have time to think about it.

We recently stayed at The Sunset beach club from 1st March to 8th March and booked this with Pauline Caruana at Discover Access. The whole booking experience was easy and Pauline was very helpful.
Sunset Beach club is a really lovely hotel, set in an ideal location .Our Apartment was great and the view from our balcony (room 250)was amazing, looking right onto the beach. We did not use the outdoor pools as it was still chilly but all the facilities at this hotel are good, and the staff very friendly.
The only downside was a meal we had at the restaurant. My husband had fillet steak -very disappointing-. Definitely not fillet steak as it was very grisly. Our meals were also lukewarm and at 27.00euro for the steak, we did expect better. We did complain to the waiter but he didn't seem to care. So sadly,we did not eat there again.
The bus stops and taxis are just outside the hotel and it is easy to get around.
All in all we had a lovely time and would return again.

When we extended our membership to Discover Access, my wife and I are sure that we were told that Club las Calas in Lanzarote was a"home resort", available to members at a substantial discount.
When we came to book, was told that it was not.
However, agents were always polite and courteous and eventually we made our booking although not with the discount we expected.

Staff are very willing to help with any situation you are experiencing,
We had to cancel a holiday back in December and we had a letter from them to help with our Insurance Claim,
Staff respond to email requests very promptly.
Our last holiday in February was dealt with very quickly from request to booking (24 Hours).
We stayed at Club Las Calas in Lanzarote. Would go there again.

Have just booked a holiday to the Algarve. Rep was very helpful and patient with finding accommodation and location that we required. I have dealt with Mia each time so far who has always been very helpful and quick to respond to my queries. Looking forward to booking more trips away.

You know the story and reason behind our reviews. Preying on weak vulnerable and unassuming people..twice this week we were in saint Paul's and called to the 3 star mayflower looking for Mr silvermans lackies, but to no avail..the sooner this timeshare scam is closed down the better..people from different countries working for them as to try sweeten the con..allas we are going home tomorrow without restitution and compensation for the experience but hopefully the next time .suprise surprise I'm blocked from posting date of experience which was 17th of febuary 24 ,we were shanghaied at bus station in saint pauls by an old cockney bird called kerrie living in mosta beidh àr là linn
I contacted Mia at Discover and within a week or so, she managed to get me and my wife booked into Las Callas in Lanzarote.
Straight forward booking and such a lovely place where we made lots of nice friends….
Thank you Mia & Discover….👏👏👏👏

From beginning to end was a dream. Booking was simple and quick. We ordered a taxi through Access, which was waiting on our arrival. I would recommend the taxi service Discover Access uses. Driver was helpful in every way. Both from picking up at the airport, to taking my wife, and I back to the airport. The Mayflower staff were magnificent. From the reception to the hotel bar. The room was clean, and the cleaning staff came in every day to tidy the room. Unfortunately, the view was not that good, looking out of the room. The view was of the back of the rear of the opposite hotel. But, who stays in a room just for the view. OVERALL the stay was well worth it. Geoff

The hotel was nice and the staff helpful.
However, Discover Access as a company is not what we were led to believe. We have now appointed a solicitor to remove ourselves from the contract.
If you have a lot of money and plenty of time to travel, this may suit you.
Very polite and professional. The accommodation has greatly improved and is in a great part of the island

The booking process is really easy if by email or by phone and all the customer service team are really friendly and helpful with suggestions on hotels and vacations, all answered in a timely manner. The accommodation was what I was looking for, clean spacious and to a very good standard in an area that was great and easily accessible for days out and amenities.
I have been with the club for 2 years and and holidayed in both the UK and Europe and have enjoyed all the vacations and I am sure I will enjoy more in the future.

We were stopped at Buggiba bus station in October 2024 and on returning home realised just how much the holidays were going to cost in extras, flights, transfers and luggage and decided that membership was not worth it. We cancelled our membership and sent off forms within 14 days cooling off period. Received a letter stating that membership was cancelled but still no sign of £1,500 we paid at time of joining. We were each given different paperwork to sign on the spot and not really given enough time to read it before signing.
Further to my review, Discover Access have replied and they have cancelled the main contract but the extra so called FREE year has not been cancelled and they have kept the £1500 deposit paid at the time of being signed up. So still only 1*. Further update today (20/02/2025) we have today received another letter demanding another £500. The contract has been cancelled, stop demanding more money.

Thanks once again for a great holiday over the Christmas period at the mayflower hotel in Qawra Malta.
The reservation team at Discover Access ensured our holiday went ahead without a hitch.
The Mayflower hotel was first class as usual, always there to make sure we had a great break.
Once again thanks to all at Access 2 Leisure and the team at the Mayflower hotel. 10 out of 10
