I’ve recently bought some DJI camera equipment for my trip to Thailand and for the bigger bike journey I’m planning with @onelife.wideopen and @bearonabike.

I’ve got two DJI Osmo Action 6 cameras, the new DJI phone gimbal, and the small DJI drone, which I think is the Mini 4 Pro.

The reason I went for DJI is simple really. I need camera kit that I can trust. I’ll be on a bike, travelling, dealing with heat, rain, dust, traffic and everything else that comes with being on the road. I don’t want equipment that feels complicated or fragile. I want to press record and know it’s going to work.

Straight away, the kit feels quality. The cameras are small, solid and neat, but they don’t feel like toys. They feel like proper bits of equipment that have been made to be used.

Having two action cameras makes a lot of sense for what I want to do. One can be facing forward on the bike, and the other can be on me, the bike, Freddy, or catching another angle of the journey. I don’t want everything to look too staged or overdone. I want it to feel real, but I still want the quality to be good enough to tell the story properly.

The phone gimbal is something I think I’ll use more than I first expected. It’s perfect for quick shots when I’m walking around, filming the bike, food stops, campsites, towns, temples, or just those small moments that happen along the way. Sometimes those are the best bits, and it means I don’t have to get all the bigger camera gear out every time.

The drone is the bit I’m probably most excited about. A bike on a mountain road, a camp spot in the middle of nowhere, a coastline in Thailand, or a road disappearing into the distance — that’s where the drone will really show the scale of the journey. It’s small enough to travel with, which is important, because I don’t want to carry kit that becomes a pain.

What I like most is that the DJI equipment gives me confidence. It feels well made, easy to pack, easy to use, and like it belongs on this type of trip. I’m not trying to make a Hollywood film. I just want to capture the journey properly, in a way that feels honest and natural.

There will be a bit to learn, especially with batteries, mounts, sound, storage and getting the workflow right. But that’s part of it. Once I’ve used it a few times, I think it will become second nature.

For me, this isn’t just about buying gadgets. It’s about building a camera setup I can rely on. The bike journey, Thailand, Freddy, the people I meet, the roads, the bad days, the good days — I want to be able to capture all of it without fighting with the equipment.

First impressions are really good. The DJI kit feels like proper quality, and I’m happy with what I’ve bought. The real test will be Thailand, with the heat, humidity, rain, bikes and daily use, but at the moment I already feel like I’ve made the right choice.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely love the DJI Mini 5 Pro! The camera quality is stunning, the drone is incredibly stable, and it's very easy to fly. The battery life is great, and the DJI RC 2 makes the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. A fantastic drone that's definitely worth it!

Your website pushed the wrong Action 6 case when looking at Action 6 accessories. Tried to cancel the purchase but have no refund or information about where the product is. I never received it and have no contact from yourselves re current situation.

UPDATE: Received an email apologising for the miscommunication, and an assurance that replacements would be posted out. Not sent 'next day' as was originally paid for so may not get them until next week!!!
