Being this bad takes practice - Crawford's have had plenty

We have an ongoing subsidence claim that our insurer, Nationwide, appointed this company to deal with. After two years of taking regular measurements and persuading Railtrack to remove trees and vegetation they finally sent a building engineer to assess the remedial work required. That was seven months ago. Since then they have done absolutely nothing. We raised a formal complaint. They did nothing. Not even acknowledge the complaint. They are without doubt the worst company we've ever had the misfortune to deal with

The subsidence claim that time forgot part deux!

(N.B. I POSTED THIS ORIGINALLY AS AN LV REVIEW, BUT I AM POSTING HERE TOO BECAUSE THEY APPOINT CRAWFORDS TO DEAL WITH SUBSIDENCE)

UPDATE JANUARY 2021: NEW YEAR, SAME OLD PREDICAMENT!! 4 months later it’s just been report after report after flaming REPORT! ZERO ACTION. My tree remains, my subsidence remains, my stress remains.... The only thing that doesn’t REMAIN in all this is our EU Membership!!! Original claims handler was so useless, they changed him. Lady I now have was initially totally on it...haven’t been able to get hold of her now for over a month.... If you have a subsidence claim with these guys make sure you get yourself a truly MASSIVE STURDY STICK as you will need to poke them with it on a really regular basis if you want even the smallest bit of progress to occur! Start working out today, you’re going to have to improve your stamina....

UPDATE LATE OCTOBER 2020: Despite being invited here by LV to contact this “special” email account, I’m still no further forward. Have spoken on phone to very cocky young lady who says LV customers are not necessarily covered for subsidence (even though it says they are in their policy document) it “all depends...” suggests to me they’re looking for ways to not bother paying out. Could’ve just told me to **** off a month ago and I could’ve at least attempted to find the money to repair my house by myself by now....Also, the woman I spoke to would not answer my speculative questions about what they DO pay for, if they do decide to pay for anything at all. She was clearly maddened that I even asked!!!!

ORIGINAL COMMENTS, FROM OCTOBER 2020: Reported a very obviously tree-related subsidence claim over 3 weeks ago. They farm this out to Crawford & Co. (who have a dreadful Trustpilot rating btw) who then just don’t bother contacting me about it. Had to keep badgering LV to poke them with a stick. They eventually sent out a We Go Look inspector who took photos...but then he hasn’t sent Crawford any report. LV don’t bother checking in on what’s happening/overseeing any of this, it seems?! I have to keep ringing (or emailing them, because no one answers the phone any more in recent days, even after 1hr or so waiting). Meanwhile, house cracking just gets worse.... Crawford say that IF they do get THAT report and IF they decide the tree IS at fault, LV will make me pay the cost of felling the tree myself (even though they’ll be getting £1000 off me) and I hear elsewhere they ALSO do not pay for any remedial work to stabilise the house, just cosmetic repairs/decoration...so my question is...wth is the £1,000 FOR? It wouldn’t cost that to fill cracks, replaster sections of interior wall and redecorate. In fact, I can do these things myself with some help from my super DIYing best mate! What I can’t do and can’t afford to do is to underpin my house and sort out shifting brickwork!!!

Of course, I don’t know whether this speculation about costs is actually true because I can’t get hold of anyone at LV themselves....

I really feel for everyone who ever has a subsidence claim, especially a truly serious one. Every insurer I ever hear about drags their feet and lets them down faster than a sinking foundation :(

Bunch of baffons

This company has messed us around for 6 months now after a flood claim with AXA insurance for the last three months we have had no kitchen no where to cook and no water in the house for drinking and because of a cost issue with one of its suppliers it's on hold again,
They dont care about peoples lives just profit when will insurance companys realise its them that suffer
Absolute discrace.

Crawford and Company Nottingham

Crawford and Company Nottingham, this has to be the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Unfortunately I had to give one star but it’s definitely ZERO stars. A claim was submitted to Ageas (Age Co who are equally as useless) by my late mother over two years ago. For the last ten months I have as executor been requesting the repairs to be completed as a matter of urgency so I can sell the house. Some staff are extremely unhelpful, rude and never respond to calls or emails. When I have received a very rare update about monitoring or work it’s always ‘within the next few weeks’ which means nothing as this then turns into months. I have constantly had to chase with no resolution whatsoever, I just feel so fobbed off and it is causing me so much stress as I can’t sell the house and be able to move on. Customer service is shocking and I have asked Ageas to change them which is ignored. Ageas are now investigating but again expect no movement. I’m not elderly but Ageas is meant to help them. Suggest anyone who gets assigned Crawford’s demands another company is assigned as this experience is really not pleasant and considering my circumstances they don’t give a s#$t, avoid at all cost. To Crawford’s management - you should be ashamed. Please sort your shambolic company and recommend your staff have more respect for customers, their circumstances, receive customer service skills training and actually answer calls/emails. You’re website says you deal with claims quickly, absolute rubbish, do you call 2.5 years quick (or me asking for this to be urgently completed for the last 10 months)? Just consider people’s circumstances and have some compassion. Even now I still have no date for repairs, Crawford and Company senior management, get this sorted NOW. As of 20th January I still have no date for repairs. I contacted Crawford’s Head of UK and Ireland and someone contacted me to say the claim has moved to repair stage. I was assured repairs would be completed end of January/mid February. After chasing again still no date. They now address emails (after I’ve chased again) with just ‘good morning/afternoon’ so I’m also now nameless - so rude!

WORST company to deal with

This is the WORST company to deal with.
They are now Loss adjustors for AIRBNB.
As a Host making a claim after guests have damaged your property you now must go via them and only deal with them. AIRBNB takes a back seat ...no longer is it through the AIRBNB RESOLUTION CENTRE with larger claims.

Crawford & Co go out of their way to NOT reimburse you. Every obstacle possible is thrown at you until you give up!

Not ME...I didn’t give up as they continued to depreciate items only a year or two years old. My Tax accountant was horrified at their ridiculous Depreciation scale.
They then tried to stop me getting my very expensive BOSE stereo repaired rather insisting I would only get 1/3 of its value. The same with my leather lounge (only 2yrs old). Guests had leaked blue ink all over the white leather lounge, 2 expensive throws and pillows. There was brown hair dye all over my beautiful expensive white Egyptian cotton linen, and a red substance (suspect Red Wine) spilt on the BOSE stereo.
They blocked the toilet with flushing the wrong items, and I was forced to cancel my next guests..a substantial loss to me all round.

In the end after weeks and weeks of haggling and pleading with AIRBNB yo help to no avail...
I involved the Dept of Fair trading who informed me I was in my rights to get the item repaired rather than lose monies. Crawford & Co offering 1/3 of its value like everything else.
Just disgraceful behaviour to put your through the “ringer” so you accept anything,..disgusting culture for a company representing the very company us Hosts are in partnership with ..
AIRBNB.
I told AIRBNB of the reviews this company Crawford & Co had on the internet..35 1 star reviews on Google and on Trust Pilot ...a popular review platform..86% 1 star reviews!!

Does AIRBNB really want to associate with such a company especially as they are about to go PUBLIC on the stock exchange..reporting to Share-Holders !
Come on AIRBNB ..look after your Hosts when guests do the wrong thing!
As a SUPERHOST and refusing to accept such bad behaviour ...AIRBNB eventually took my case off Crawford & Co and paid me what should have been paid when this disaster first started with the guests from Hell!

Thankyou Dept Fair Trading !
AIRBNB HOSTS BEWARE !

Michelle Kennedy is a Star

Like everyone else who has written a poor review on Crawfords I have experienced the same poor time wasting service "due to covid"? Never makes sense to me how the COVID pandemic has stopped people from doing their jobs and getting things done - unless of course they have COVID!! I have been waiting for two years now to get our subsidence job approved and the works carried out. However, today I have spoken to a claims handler based in the Watford Branch called Michelle Kennedy. Although she does not work on subsidence claims, she was more than happy to go through my file and act as the chaser to get my claim escalated to the right people. So thank Michelle you are a star and I really appreciated your help today. We need more diamonds in the rough :)

Crawfords: Making a Crisis out of a Drama for 75 years

I have found these reviews very useful to quote to LV insurance in my complaint about Crawfords - I quoted four of the most recent five reviews as they reflect our own exeriences and frustrations in dealing with them.

They do have one very pleasant person on the phones, who I shall not name as I would be concerned that they would be disciplined for caring two hoots about the customer.

Insurance companies need to consider how passing on their customers to a company like this reflects badly on themselves. "Do you ever use Crawfords" will now be a standard question when I am shopping for insurance, and I will not deal with any insurers that use them, any savings made would not be worth the aggro.

Never again…

I cannot express how upset and angry I feel towards this company. My claim, through AXA was first raised in November 2017. These cowboys told us the subsidence was due to a collapsed drain. We were told to have it fixed and they would arrange remedial works to make good the damage.
Seven Trent investigated and found a small hole in the drain. They said it wasn't major but replaced the pipework.
Crawford set out a schedule of works to be carried out by John's of Nottingham.
Each step has been a nightmare due to each job revealing more problems. Our roof wasn't even sitting on any structure as the house had sunk so much. We were told this wasn't down to MOVEMENT?? The house had moved in the 2 years they were on site so much we couldn't open the back door! After less than a year the repairs have started to crack again. I have been trying to get them to come out to inspect the recurring damage since March this year but just got fobbed off with 'send pictures' then the pictures arnt clear, the person dealing with your claim is on holiday, off sick, etc etc etc.
I have since raised a complaint to both companies and now miraculously they are sending an investigator out in the next 2 weeks.
Crawford even had the nerve to ask because they are moving forward with the claim would I like to withdraw my complaint!!

Pass The Buck Chuck

What is literally the point in their existence? It took months for anything to get started and when it did it was only cuz we badgered them.
They don't liase with their contractors effectively, they don't take notes correctly (if at all), they don't know what's going on or who is responsible for what and they don't seem to like answering phones.
The gears are turning now and work is getting done because I am making the calls to each company and arranging all visits, effectively bypassing their "service" which has been none existent anyway.

Absolutely appalling service

Absolutely appalling service, 2 years and 11 months on and no remedial action for potential subsidence, solution seems to be to remove the hedge but reading of others' experiences this seems a costly and then inept solution. Poor response to emails and the whole experience is leaving me with anxiety and stress, they should not have a contract with the insurance company LV. They are really very poor in their communication and slow to act. Am very disappointed..................and fed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should companies like this be allowed…

Should companies like this be allowed to trade. After 2.5 years of dealing with them I am afraid I have to echo peoples views on this company on Trust pilot. The most awful journey having put in for an insurance claim through a famous insurance company that claims to help the over 55. It was my fathers house. I wish I had never bothered. I only acted on advice from the British poppy appeal. How can these people claim to be so caring (see their website) and professional. I am astounded at the way they treat people in such difficulties. Very sad to see what journeys people have been through, I thought it was just a one off and I was the unlucky one. Absolutely fed up with the whole journey.

Stressful and no Communication - Wellbeing Affected

Hi all,

This is the misfortune of having to deal with the below:

• CATALYST HOUSING LIMITED – POLICY no. 24559762 CPO
• AVIVA INSURANCE – COMMERCIAL TEAM- 24559762 CPO
• BROAD SPIERS – WHO HAVE APPOINTED CRAWFORD – Reference no. 5204091
• THE WORST OF ALL CRAWFORD LOSS ADJUSTERS – Ref no. 1499936

1, on the 29th of November 2019, the water pipe between our floor and the next floor burst causing extensive damage to bathroom, Hallway, living room, kitchen and 2 bedrooms.

2, We contacted our insurance as per the documents we were given with the policy no. of AVIVA – 24559762 CPO home emergency call out which resulted in tap being capped and so we had no water in the house.

3, AVIVA or the so-called broker insurance company appointed Crawford to handle the claim, a surveyor (aka CLOWN) from CATALYST visited the property purporting to access the damage caused.

4, Beginning of December we were contacted by Chido former Countrywide mortgages telling us alternative accommodation has been arranged at a hotel for us all until buildings works were completed. We were happy that at last we will have water to use and not have to buy gallons of bottled water.

5, My autistic son objected to the changes and found it difficult to cope and yet CRAWFORD wanted us to move back to the flat with 8 drying machines because they did not want to pay for the hotel as they needed to do some savings for BROAD SPIERS.

6, There was not much contact between us and Crawford however the accommodation had regular contact with us. Crawford wanted end the accommodation even though the flat was not dry yet and was dusty as hell.

7, By the 27th February after waiting from the 21st January 2020, I was getting concern that no contractors were getting in touch to begin the works on the house. Anytime you contact Crawford the excuse is always the individual is on the road attending to other clients it has since become a song.

8, On the 24th February, the accommodation provider informed me that Crawford were not willing to extend our stay in the hotel and are insisting we move back home. I explained the conditions, but it went down to deaf ears and we paid for two extra days at the hotel as we had to arrange for cleaning at the flat.

9, I contacted Crawford to find out when the works would start as I was not seeing the reason why we had to move back in and move out again for the works to be done. They basically told me they couldn’t care less what the condition of the house was, they have decided not to extend the accommodation and that was that.

10, When you contact Crawford all they do is complain to say that it was costing too much to put us in an alternative accommodation therefore we should go back home and live in the house as it is irrespective of our health and safety and having kids with asthma.

11, I am currently depressed and in shock by the way I and my family have been treated by Crawford and its associated companies making our life miserable and not worth living.

I wonder how many families go through this kind of treatment.

Jacky

The Worst Most Stressful Service Ever !

Crawford’s is working on behalf of my insurance company Aviva. Don’t forget to review your insurance company as I feel Aviva they use Crawfords to hide behind the extreme bad service. Aviva blame Crawfords but they are just as bad, also very poor ratings. I am have never experienced such stress and bad service.

No No No Keep Away Danger

No, No, No
This company must be closed down! Bunch of cowboys, I don’t normally take the time to leave reviews but felt I had to warn other of this company. A job that was going to take 2 weeks continues to go on after 6 months. Patch work shoddy workmanship and dangerous! Having to stay in Hotel now as could not move in as work was supposed to be completed was left in dangerous manner and had to leave. They don’t keep you updated, neither do they no what’s going on anyway. You can email until your blue in the face it won’t help you. How can this company not have been closed down yet, and how can insurance companies use them?
They will tell you lies to try and get you to move and once your out, then the ball is in their court and you be out of the house for months.
Would love to post photos, only then you could fully understand.
Keep week away, don’t leave you home and insist on a differ company to look after your claim, or you will regret it!!! Most stress we have ever had with any company! They should win an award.

Cannot give zero stars which is more…

Cannot give zero stars which is more than they deserve.
Wish I had checked these reviews before attempting to deal through them.
After 12 months of them browbeating me finally gave up and eventually got claim reference (which they had refused on numerous previous occasions).
Then managed to resolve myself with 1 phone call direct to Insurers (Axa).
They have absolutely no conscience or care for the claimant .... DO NOT check their logo/motto else you will die of laughing!!!
How do any of them sleep at nights??

Garage subsidence.

I have never dealt with such a poor company.
Having said that they are brilliant at excuses and have a large range of different reasons for avoiding responding to the customer,ME.
Why an insurer in my case Ageas would choose to use them is baffling.
My subsidence claim has been ongoing for 17 months and I still have no idea if or when the repair work might start.
They are seriously quite Awful and best not touched with a Bargepole!

Never dealt with a company so bad!

I've only had a couple of claims to deal with previously but we have never experienced a company in general who are so rude, uncompassionate and selfish. Everything was a problem for them and would 'shaft' you and leave you to suffer for their own gain. There is no point in having insurance if Crawford are going to be involved as you won't get anything. The biggest thing was the ignorance of the employees, they would never respond to emails and you would have to chase multiple times to get a one line reply that didn't answer/address any of your questions/comments. If they were to send you an email and you didn't respond for a few days, they would be straight back chasing you though. To sum it up they are two-faced and thieves.
