Christian Ramirez, Dog Trainer extraordinaire
I highly recommend Christian Ramirez as a Dog Trainer. When I started working with him, my new puppy, a poodle Shih Tzu mixed named Roman, was fearful of men and loud noises. Christian was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain my puppies behavior, why it was happening, and how to help him overcome those fears.
He taught me to be a confident leader for my dog and how to recognize early signs of stress or fear so I could redirect his behavior before it escalated. His explanations were clear, practical, and easy to apply in everyday situations.
One thing, I especially appreciated was the detailed training summary he provided after each session. They were informative, highlighted my puppies progress, and gave me clear guidance on what to continue working on between sessions. These summaries made it much easier to stay consistent and build on what my puppy was learning.
Thanks to Christian‘s guidance, Roman has made great progress and is becoming more confident every day. Christian is patient, professional, and generally invested in helping both dogs and their owners succeed.
I am grateful for his expertise and support, and I look forward to continuing to see Roman grow and thrive using the skills and techniques Christian has taught us. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate trainer, who delivers real results, I wholeheartedly recommend Christian Ramirez.

Josh was great to speak with
We just signed up. I did my research and liked what I saw. Josh gave us a call back within 10 minutes and spent ample time explaining everything we need to know about the training program for our new pup.
Josh was very responsive to all our questions and not in a hurry at all. It was a very pleasant informational call and we felt comfortable signing up.

Offered services do not match actual services
Filled out the online request form and only requested group training. The solicitation call we received was for 1 on 1 in home training. Not sure why an service offering is made if is not something that is offered. Then it begins to feel like a bait and switch, trust is lost.

I am an 88-year-old disabled veteran, who has experienced 2 strokes and partial blindness in one eye and my wife is 84 with the onset of dementia. Her dementia is in the early stages and is a patient in a research study with Alzheimer's Research in Stuart Florida. We have been married 66 years.
As a result of our disabilities, we adopted a rescue dog. He is a daschund mix, 5 years old at the time. His name is SammyMax and he became immediately attached to both my wife and I.
On 19 April we received an unsolicited offer from DogAcademy that included service training for SammyMax. We became interested in this offer because with the certification we could travel with SammyMax to our timeshare, restaurants, and airplanes so we signed up to the tune of $2344.99 (invoice 296793 dated 19 April 2026). I completed 27% of the videos and 2 in-home sessions with the local trainer. The in-home training did not go well. Specifically, she outlined a program to say the name "SammyMax then place a treat in front of him and if he didn't take it to place on the ground in front of him, walk away and do his 10 times. This didn't work at all. he walked away from the first. On the second visit the cage that she requested had arrived. We set the cage up and she instructed me to place his food in there so he could get used to the cage. That didn't work after several days so I returned to his normal eating routine. At night, SammyMax often slept under my bed and for some reason, she wanted him to stop so she placed the cardboard box under the bed so block him from there. In both sessions she seemed rushed. After the second in-home visit I called support and asked for another trainer. the customer rep indicated that this was not possible because the nearest alternate trainer was 50 miles away. Stacy from customer service called me today and after explaining the situation I asked for a refund. She was offering other alternatives, but I had to interrupt her to attend another meeting. Stacy called me back at 4:15 ET but I was still unavailable. I called C.S. back and the rep sent a message to Stacy to call me back at 11 AM ET tomorrow. meanwhile I have reviewed all of the one and two star comment about their experiences with Dog Academy and discovered a number of negative comments.

Christian is the BEST
Christian is the BEST! If you need dog training in the Sacramento area you will be very pleased with Christian. He is as good as the TV dog whisperer. He will know your dog’s temperament within 10 minutes of meeting them. He is a rewards based trainer. He uses food and voice tone to communicate with your dog. My dogs were unruly and out of control. Now they are pretty calm and I can take them anywhere without worrying. Hire Christian if you want the best for you and your dog 5 out of 5 stars but he deserves 10 stars. That is how good he is with both dogs and their owners!
