Sketchy payment structure.

I recently signed up for DontPayMe earlier this month, but was not aware of the $36 USD biannual payment that they charged me through Plaid. However, I do admit that their customer service is very good. To whoever is reading this review, please close my account and issue a full refund to my account.

Not sure if they can be trusted...

I'm giving do not pay three stars because I'm not sure if I trust it. As a member you have to share a lot of your personal information with the service in order to accomplish tasks. I'm a new member and have been using the site for only a few days now and honestly I have not had any beneficial things happen by being a member. The fake phone number did not work. The fake credit card did not work.

The concept of the site is fabulous. Very aspirational because as technology becomes more and more ingrained in our daily lives, the need for the type of services will become almost a necessity. No one wants to be swallowed whole.

This being said , I'm still not sure it has innocent intentions and may need to tweak a few things before it becomes common place.

I am going to cancel my account.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS THIEVING SITE

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS THIEVING SITE! I was never told I would be charged $36. I was made to believe that I was linking my Apple Pay account just incase I wanted to make in app purchases at a later date. Thankfully I found this site and saw how shady this company is! I immediately went to check the activity on my Apple Pay & sure enough, I too was charged without my knowledge or consent. I’m disputing this now. SO LAME!!

RED FLAGS GALORE!!

Hi, Joyce!

I know that this is probably you reading this since you seem to be responding to all of these messages. I have a few questions for you:

1. Why are all of the 5 star reviews on this page written by people that have only ever written one review? Seems a little bit sketchy to me.
2. Why did my Apple Pay not tell me how much I would be charged until after my account was linked to your website?
3. Why is the advertising for your website all about "we want to help you get money back"? Where is the inclusion about having to pay up front? I guess all the money we pay not realizing that there is such a massive up-front fee is to bump yourselves up to the top of the search results.
4. After reading some reviews, I have seen that the $36 fee had gone from annually to biannually to quarterly in a very short time. Doesn't that seem a little bit suspicious to you? As an outsider that thankfully realized how suspect this is after getting $36 stolen from my pocket, this looks horribly unprofessional and after my experience, I doubt that subscribers were even properly notified about the charge changes.
5. Why is the font and emphasis on the upfront $36 not larger? I cannot emphasize enough how horrible this looks for your company. SO many of these reviews here and on BBB are all about how there were people not knowing they would be charged. I even was charged before verifying my email for my account. Horrible look for you guys.

Now I know from the sounds of it, you'll try and tell me that I will not get a refund but I will hunt my money down until I get it back. No one wants spam, I understand. I also want to keep my money to myself. One of those things is much more important than the other. If I am not contacted about getting a refund ASAP, I will be filing a dispute with my bank immediately.

Great Customer Service

I wrote a review about a week ago about a problem that I was having with DoNotPay.com. Within a day or two, DoNotPay responded to the review. And within a week, they explained what the problem was with my account a gave me a year of free service for my troubles. Now, this is a company that I will continue to do business with, because that is what I call true customer service.

Dissapointed

I am actually extremely disappointed in its ticket appealing process. Step 1. Upload Ticket. Step 2. Provide info on the ticket. Step 3. Do you want to pay or appeal. Step. 4 What was incorrect that you want to appeal.
The whole reason I got this subscription was for the system to look for any errors, if I knew what to look for I'd have done this without a subscription.

I asked for a refund, got denied that as well. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend it for tickets. I'm sure there's some value here for some people but for me and what I wanted to get done, there is not at this time.

Hello Maksim,

Thank you for your input - our traffic tickets product creates an appeal letter based on applicable state traffic laws. We then provide the option to mail the appeal letter to the relevant traffic ticket issuer.

We weren't able to issue a refund since you accepted our subscription fee and used our other services. I apologize for the inconvenience. You can turn off auto-renewal through your account settings. Please email support@donotpay.com if you have additional questions or concerns.

Not polished

Not polished, messed up my claim letter, then sent it without giving me a chance to review. Customer service was attentive and I think was a real human (kudos if it wasn't), but given that dnp is supposed to do everything for you, they could have done more. I ended up editing the pdf myself.

I got a sub to file a warranty claim that I expect will end with a lawsuit. I figured for $36, it was worth a shot.

The claim was easy to file, but dnp botched the letter. A lot of capitalization and blank spaces were removed, making it very difficult to read. Additionally, it failed to attach the receipt (pdf). The most curious part to me was that it took over 12 hours to process the job. It seems like this would have been faster and better without whatever the ai did.

They wouldn't send a warranty claim letter made by ai without having me check it, would they? They did. If the letter wasn't such a disaster, I wouldn't have thought twice.

I wrote an email to the support team that included the chat transcript and the pdf of the receipt. I thought they might take care of the letter for me, but they said they couldn't merge the receipt with the letter and asked me what I wanted changed.

I decided to just fix it the old fashioned way with Adobe acrobat. I sent the fixed letter back, with the receipt merged in the same file with the letter (not sure why they couldn't do that) and hopefully this will work out.

Do your research on "DoNotPay"...

I was going to try out "DoNotPay" but after reading all of the reviews on here, I decided to find everything I could about the website before signing up. Many of the reviews mention a "$36 per year" subscription. That may have been the PREVIOUS price, but it is now $36 per 3 MONTHS, which works out to $12 per month or $144 per year. That alone was enough for me to change my mind about using the service. However, I also tried to locate the "Learning Center" which Joyce (who seems to be the only person working at DoNotPay) says can be used to find out about what services are offered by DoNotPay. I scanned the entire main page of the website and found no link to a "Learning Center." There is a very small question mark (?) at the top right corner that, when clicked, provides two other links - one labeled "Help" and the other "Logout." When clicking on the "Help" link, it opened a new email dialog in Outlook that would send an email to their support email address, but there is no link to a "Learning Center." I will not be trusting this company with my money nor any important matters. I strongly advise caution.

For me it was clear I was going to pay $36 even before being able to get enough information. I just wanted the service to get me a DMV appointment, it was my sole purpose for this purchase. After a day an a half of waiting, it said “We can’t complete this task”
Even if you had a different purpose it’s just not easy to navigate. Every time you open the app you have log in again (by getting a confirmation code EVERY TIME) very frustrating
UPDATE: They handled the situation very quickly and gave me a refund. The customer service is very good

DoNotPay is a scam and it is unsafe. I entered my card there and they have made purchases without my consent. I know they charge a subscription, but why did they make me multiple purchases from Amazon?

This company uses unethical practices to trick new users.

Even thought they do have a disclaimer charging $36 automatically, this is clearly unethical and primarily an attempt to profit. Legally they are able to do this because of the disclaimer. I implore anyone to avoid companies like this because all they want is profit. It really isn't about the best user experience. This is merely a legal tactic to trick users into giving them money.

Please don't even bother replying about "How sorry you are". It doesn't work with me, and frankly, I don't care about your empty apologies. I just want to make users more aware of companies like this that just want a paycheck.

They will take your money and make you believe they told you there was an upfront fee AFTER they charge you.

I signed up with them after finding them through an article. It didnt say there were any upfront fees or anything. I thought I was giving card info for them to pay me when they received money through differen means by contacting phone scammers that had called me. I then looked at my bank account and was charged $36! There was no receipt of service or any authorization dropdown prior to me giving them my card info. And then I go to the site the next day using another number and it convinently tells you that you need to pay a fee upfront. They most likely use cookies to track you and they know how to manipulate you into thinking its always been there, but it hasnt! All the positive reviews here are likely fake or from a time before they decided to scam people out of money to seem legitimate. I've discontinued my card and filed a dispute, letting the bank know everything thats happened along with telling my bank of the people having the same experience Ive had. Do not trust this company!!
