Loved the product, but some concerns

Loved the product, however when box was opened, it was not packaged correctly, and some parts looked used/opened. You could tell the item had been previously opened, or put together and returned.
Instructions included were useless, we just figured it out on our own.
Once together though, the stand is nice and holds up well.

Could be more stable. Not a perfect solution.

After installing them it was apparent that stability is not a hallmark of these risers.
As we moved the bed back into place against the wall, the legs would tilt slightly. Even after getting the bed in place and kicking the risers back into position, if you rocked the bed you could sense that it wasn't 100% stable. At this point I'm still considering sending them back, but the bed hasn't 'crashed' yet. We'll see.
I grew up in a family of carpenters. Here are my observations/suggestions:
1. The 'pocket' the legs of the bed sit in is not deep enough. It needs to be at least 4 inches deep for a riser that is 20+ inches tall. While this will impact how high the bed goes, you either build the riser longer to accommodate, or accept a slightly lower profile.
2. There should be twice as many screw holes and screws securing the riser to the bedpost, four high and four low set 2-3 inches apart vertically, to ensure that the riser can't move as these did. I know the metal plate inserts are supposed to stabalize this, but four more holes and screws couldn't hurt.
3. I would also include adjustable cross beams ( X )at the head and foot of the bed, or a single beam ( @-@ ) that uses a 2-4 inch 'collar' that would slide over the riser and screw into place to make the headboard and footboard risers two very stable, free-standing units.
4. For additional stability you could add a single, level 'collar' beam front-to-back, probably at 16-18 inches high, because of that higher center of gravity, that could be used on the side of the bed facing the wall. Then the entire frame would stand on it's own and be far more stable.

4. Optional: Include thick metal or wood 'spacers' to be placed in the risers for those rectangular or smaller square bedpost beds that might need them. This would make these risers far more marketable.

Suggestions 1, 2, and 4 shouldn't noticeably raise the cost.
If you want to keep close to your current price point, you could even sell Suggestion 3 as a separate 'upgrade' kit.

If you need some rough drawings to show visually what I'm describing, let me know.

Dormco was great to work with and made sure I received everything ordered before the kids moved in even with short notice. Everything received was good quality and it made the process much of getting the kids settled much easier.
