Left me unable to drive my car — serious concerns about transparency and competence
Brought my Skoda Octavia (2015) with an occasional gear 2→3 shift hesitation that reset fine and didn’t affect daily driving. Was told after a test drive: no mechanical issue — a software update might fix it.
I was never warned the update could make things worse. After the SW update, the car could only run in gears 2 and 4 — undriveable. Only then was I told the TCU and mechatronics needed replacement. I agreed, as I had no choice.
Once disassembled, I was called and told the gearbox also needed a full renovation — total repair cost: 30,000–35,000 DKK + VAT. A car that drove in when it arrived.
Under pressure — told the lift was occupied and I needed to decide fast — I was pushed toward selling. I was told “they don’t buy such cars,” yet a buyer emerged immediately at 15,000 DKK. I later found the buyer was the shop owner himself, who was registered as the buyer at the time of the transaction.
Reflecting on the full picture: a driveable car was made undriveable, I was rushed into a lowball sale under time pressure, and the buyer turned out to be the shop itself.
I can only speak to what I experienced. But I would strongly caution anyone bringing a car here.
