The currency shown before payment is the billing currency for the booking; if your card then settles in AUD, the exchange rate and any foreign transaction fee come from your bank or card issuer, not from the booking platform. If the amount on your statement differed from what you saw online, the confirmation should show which currency was set before checkout.

Unacceptable service – Still waiting for my refund after dozens of emails!
Regarding your comment: Thank you for responding. We have been in communication. I have sent you my banking details twice, yet I have received no response. Please check our written correspondence.
I am extremely disappointed with EconomyBookings. I cancelled my Booking B21508881 and requested a full refund, but they tried to keep my money as credit in an "E-wallet" for a future booking instead of refunding my card.
I explicitly rejected the wallet credit and requested a proper refund to my original payment method. Since then, they have completely ghosted me. I have sent dozens of emails, and they have stopped responding entirely.
Holding a customer's money against their will and refusing to communicate is unacceptable business practice. I demand an immediate refund to my bank account!

I understand the frustration — but there's a specific reason the refund hasn't reached your card, and it's a resolvable one.
To process a refund back to your original payment method rather than the e-wallet, the support team requested your bank details in order to send the transfer — and that request went unanswered from your side. So the refund hasn't stalled because we're withholding it; it's waiting on the banking information needed to complete the transfer to your account.
To get it moving, please reply to the support team with the bank details they requested, and they can process the refund to your account directly. Once they have that information, there's nothing else holding it up.
I'm sorry if that request wasn't clear the first time — but providing those details is the step that releases the refund to your card, which is exactly what you're asking for.

A string of problems
ANZ blocked my credit card. It is taking some hours to unblock the card via ANZ customer protection.
We changed to pay EconomyBookings via PayPal as a result there was a currency conversion resulting in higher charges and an increased total price. We received messages from ANZ and PayPal. However, we did not receive any message or invoice regarding the car hire from EconomyBookings or a care hire business. As a result we are much less confident that EconomyBookings is a genuine service and very concerned that this transaction will lead to more sorrow and necessary to find alternative transport.

ANZ blocking the card and then seeing the PayPal total rise through currency conversion is a frustrating chain for one booking. Messages from ANZ and PayPal are separate from the car-hire confirmation itself; if no confirmation email or booking number came through from us, the reservation may not have been finalised. Any exchange-rate difference or foreign transaction fee is usually set by PayPal or your bank, not by the booking price. If you want it checked, our support team via the Help Center on the website can review the reservation once you share the booking number and the email used.
