Good experience buying my car

I had a great experience buying my new Audi A5, thanks to Mark. From start to finish, he was professional and genuinely helpful. He made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Mark kept me informed every step of the way and made sure I was completely comfortable with my purchase. I’ll definitely be coming back here first when I’m in the market for my next car. Highly recommend working with Mark!

Great experience

Great experience, start to finish.
We were immediately welcomed and attended to.
Lewis was very helpful and knowledgeable.
The process of part exchanging our car and buying a new vehicle was straightforward and we were able to drive away with the new car on the same day saving us time.

This is the second car i have purchased…

This is the second car i have purchased from Eddie Wrights after the amazing experience the first time this one has been sub-par to say the least, to the point where there wont be a third.

Jack was a decent sales person and not pushy at all, when it came to the finance side this is where things to me got a little sketchy. First value for finance came back at £304-ish a month, which was fine. However, i went away, found a third party company that could do it at a higher APR but less per month which i thought was stange. When i called them up to tell them, what do ya know? They came back and said they could do it cheaper per month.... either they added things on without telling me (all i was expecting was the car + extended warranty as this was all that was discussed at POS) and they took items off OR they just put me with a higher amount originally, both of which are sketchy.

Anyway, picked the car up all was well, and on the sunday i had a low break fluid warning light come on, now i understand used cars can come with issues. To be honest they were willing to fix it, which they did, however they missed out the chipped window which was supposed to be fixed at the same time. I bought an SUV and the temp car they gave me was a nissan note which was nothing short of dangerous in my opinion.

I sold them my old car, and left a refundable deposit both of which took 13 days to come back to me, and only got authorised to be paid the day after i called up and chased where it was.

So all in all a very poor experience this time round, to the point where there wont be a third purchase thats for sure.

Great car overall, but mechanical checks let it down

I bought a 2021 Mazda 3 from Eddie Wright two weeks ago. The car itself is great and exactly what I wanted, so I’m pleased with the purchase overall.

Positives
We dealt with Gary Brown, who was friendly, helpful and not pushy. He sorted everything we raised before collection — a scratched mirror, pet odour, low key-fob battery — and even arranged an oil change on the day. No issues with him at all.

What didn’t go well
The mechanical prep was poor. Before buying, I mentioned the brakes felt sluggish and asked for a thorough check and MOT. Instead, the car went straight to MOT with no inspection and actually failed because all four wheel nuts were missing — its second MOT fail in a row.

We were told the brakes had “passed”, but after buying the car I took it to an RAC service centre and was told:

It urgently needed a major service (hadn’t been done).

Front and rear pads and discs were worn below limits.

The driver’s tyre was cracked.

None of this was picked up before sale or during the MOT. As it’s wear and tear, I had to pay £650 myself.

I also later discovered the car was ex-fleet. This explains the mileage, but I wasn’t told this at the point of sale despite asking about the car’s history.

There is also a £199 admin fee for MOT and prep, so factor that in.

Overall
Buying experience: 4/5 — Gary did his best.
Car preparation: 2/5 — too many issues missed.

Would I recommend?
Yes, if you really like the car — but take someone who knows about cars and budget for your own post-purchase inspection and possible repairs. Used cars are always a risk, and the mechanical checks here weren’t thorough.

Complete disdain for customers.

**Edit, 3 Dec 25: Although it took a number of months and the threat of Small Claims action to get there, to Eddie Wright's credit - I did receive a reimbursement for the cost of the main dealer service mentioned below on 3rd Dec 25. **

I purchased an MG4 from Eddie Wright Car Supermarket on 30th September 2025. This was the first time I had ever used a dealership. I normally buy privately, but decided to pay the premium (at least £2,000-3,000 more than private sale prices) specifically for professional inspection, genuine service history, and reliable aftercare. This is a huge amount of money for me, and I thought it was worth it for the guarantees a dealer supposedly provides.

Ironically, this dealer experience has been significantly worse than any private sale I have ever completed.

The vehicle was sold with a "3rd MG Service" included, which was a primary reason for my purchase. I specifically asked salesman Simon King about this during the sale, as having 12 months of service coverage was important to me. He confirmed this had been completed.

After collection, I discovered the passenger side front mudguard was detached and hanging off. I emailed Simon King on 1st October with photographs. No response. I emailed again on 6th October as the mudguard had worsened and was now split. No response. I escalated to General Manager Clive Pick on 9th October. No response for 19 days total.

I was forced to repair the mudguard and windscreen trim myself using adhesive to make the vehicle safe to drive.

When I contacted MG directly about the service history, they confirmed the "3rd MG Service" completed by Eddie Wright was not valid. It didn't follow the MG service schedule, wasn't within the acceptable timeframe, and doesn't appear on MG's online system. MG quoted £161 for the actual 3rd service that is now due.

This constitutes misrepresentation under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The vehicle was not as described at point of sale. I formally invoked my Section 20 right to reject the vehicle within the 30-day window and arranged to return it on 28th October 2025. As at the time of writing (10 Nov), they still refuse to engage in writing to facilitate my legal right to return the vehicle.

Service Manager Jon Broughton eventually responded, stating Eddie Wright would cover the £161 cost if I could prove their service wasn't permissible. I provided written confirmation from MG proving exactly that. Jon Broughton has now gone completely silent.

I also copied Paul and Jane Wright on correspondence, as they appear to still be involved in the business. No response from them either. It appears no one at Eddie Wright cares about their reputation or legal obligations to customers.

I paid thousands of pounds more than a private sale specifically for dealer inspection, genuine service history, and professional aftercare. I received none of these things. The vehicle had defects at collection that were ignored for weeks despite three separate emails. The service history was misrepresented in breach of consumer protection law. When I exercised my statutory right to reject, they initially engaged, then went silent again when I provided the evidence they requested.

The first time I trusted a dealership instead of buying privately, and I have been let down at every single stage. I would have received better service, honesty, and value buying from a private seller on Facebook Marketplace.

Eddie Wright had multiple opportunities to resolve this professionally. They ignored repair requests, misrepresented service history, disregarded consumer law, and ultimately abandoned communication entirely when held accountable.

I cannot recommend Eddie Wright Car Supermarket under any circumstances. Simon King, Jon Broughton, Clive Pick, Paul Wright, and Jane Wright have all failed to provide even basic customer service or acknowledge their legal obligations. If you're considering purchasing from them, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. If you do proceed, verify everything independently, get everything in writing, and understand they may not honour their commitments even when legally obligated to do so.

This experience has completely destroyed my trust in dealerships. I paid a premium for supposed professionalism and guarantees, and received worse service than I have ever experienced buying privately.

AVOID AT ALL COST

Where to start! Avoid at all cost, brought a car which broke down on day one. As a token of appreciation they gave me a free MOT and service however this is where they screw you over. They failed the car on condensated headlight but yet this is how we brought the car off them 11 months ago but yet it passed like it then 😂. Anything to make some money off customers. The had the car since 8:30am and I waited around all day, the reception lads are as helpful as a chocolate fire guard when asked it’s I don’t no it’s nothing to do with me it’s all retail, yet the car was in the service department. To top it off they left dirty finger marks inside my car on the light cream interior which now I have to try get out.
Save your money go to a garage that actually cares and valves you as a customer and actually checked the car. We have brought 3 cars from here and have all broke down on either day 1 or 2 more fool us I guess

Just bought a new car

Just wanted to say I came in to the garage last weekend to look around and Mark Smith came straight to me asking if I needed help. Mark has been so helpful and I have now purchased a lovely car. Eddie Wrights is lucky to have Mark working for them, he’s helpful, knowledgeable and understanding not trying to sell me any car to help himself out. Wanted to really look after me and he has done so a massive thank you to Mark.

Circus show full of clowns

ROLLING BACK MILEAGE AND EMPTY PROMISES. Still have a broken instrument cluster thanks to these clowns. I'll be out of pocket again to sort this. You had the car 3 weeks and only started work on the last week you had it. Dodgy loan cars and a joker that sits on the desk at service. Good look to you if you're buying from Eddie wrong
