eM Client faults

I do like the format and display of messages.

Faults: 1) Cannot delete unwanted contacts
2) messages disappear
3) no instructions for using eM Client
4) search does not find old messages

1. If you're unable to delete a contact, it could be saved in a read-only folder. If that's the case, you should still be able to delete it in the webmail of your provider. Additionally, is it possible that you mean the suggested addresses? They are taken from your Contacts, Recipient history, and messages in your Sent folders. 2. eM Client never removes any messages without a user action. If your messages are disappearing, there could be a rule in eM Client (Menu>Rules) or on your server or a different app that deletes or moves them. Or there could be an issue with your sync settings (set to only a specific timeframe) or the folder you're looking in (for example Unread) - if you can send us more details on where the messages disappear from, we would be happy to help troubleshoot.

3. We share useful articles and tutorials on our blog at emclient.com - you can also access the app documentation directly via the F1 key on your keyboard.

4. If your search doesn't find old messages, it might be due to them not being downloaded for offline use and search. We suggest enabling the download for offline use (Menu>Accounts>IMAP/EWS tab>Sync Options). And adjusting the "Message sync time period" to a longer one (so older messages are included). This way your messages are downloaded fully in the background and the more detailed local search can give you better results. Slow starting up

Slow starting up. Otherwise ok.

The app startup time should take a couple of seconds, but it can depend on the device used, other installed apps, and the number of accounts in eM Client. Some security apps can slow down the startup as well.

Long time user

Long time user - Menu structure poor in this day and age. Menu UI needs to be upgraded.

Still learning the app and all the…

Still learning the app and all the options. Only problem I’ve seen is with syncing to a large google account. The iPhone app doesn’t always update well. It can stall during the sync. The Mac app just takes forever to load new emails at times. Great tool, but needs a but of work on performance

We continually improve the sync of the mobile app with each update and one of the biggest changes was the Smart optimization for IMAP accounts. Please ensure it's enabled in Settings > your account > Services > IMAP > Sync Options > Enable smart optimization for faster downloads. Then adjust the Message sync time period in the same section by choosing a shorter scope - syncing a shorter period than "all time" should also help with getting the newest messages faster.

In case the sync of your desktop app is slow, we suggest enabling the download for offline use (Menu>Accounts>IMAP tab>Sync Options). This feature will download your messages in advance so they will be readily available and it won't slow down your workflow.

Not so easy

I have found it difficult to find my way around the programme. Opening attachments sometimes need more than one click and always needs me to enlarge it to make it readable.
Now I am seeking some method of printing some emails?

When you open an attachment of a certain type (png, doc, jpg, pdf, etc.), you’ll see a pop-up asking you to choose the default action for double-clicking that file type - Open or Save. You can reset this anytime in Settings > Mail > Attachments. Alternatively, you can right-click the attachment and pick an action from the drop-down menu.

"It completely replaces Outlook" and more

"It completely replaces Outlook", without functional flaws.
I can handle multiple accounts.
The creation of accounts is becoming extremely simple.
I like the tagging system.
I like the top integration over all accounts:
One place for all email and all unread emails.

Ofcourse small improvements are possible, like a view with the combination of all unread email and the email of the last 1-7 days.

An Excellent Way to Manage Your Email Accounts In One Application

I had come to the end of my rope after using Outlook pretty much since I've had a personal email account. I looked all over for alternatives, and came across eM Client, liked their story and gave it a try. I have not looked back.

Straightforward to use and configure, I imported all of my past email (including folder structures) from multiple accounts. It does everything I need and then some. I really like the Data Files feature that allows you to organize whatever you want and keep at your fingertips without gumming up your main email database.

I can't think of a better way to manage your email.

RAM efficiency

Firstly, I value RAM efficiency, i.e. no need to keep opened many apps or web pages. But the Calendar and Tasks might be better.

Great product. Just a couple annoyances.

After a little experimentation, I got the layout how I like it.
I'm a big fan of the consolidated inbox. I have 2 personal email accounts and I like seeing all my email in one place. I do have a couple gripes, though (hence the 3 stars).
When I fire up the email client, it opens the inbox to my last read email. I expect to have it go to the top of the list. Moderately annoying.
I tend to scroll emails using the mouse wheel. When I slide my mouse over to a newly selected email and turn the wheel, nothing happens. After I click around in the email (usually opening up some link accidentally), it finally kicks in. This one is very annoying.
I'm using the free version because I haven't found any client I like better yet and I refuse to pay a subscription fee. I'll happily pay a reasonable fee for software once, but will not, with a very few exceptions, pay an ongoing fee. Don't get me wrong, you certainly should get paid for your development time (I'm a developer myself). I just won't use an email client that requires a subscription.
