Avoid.

Energy Dundee used to be really good at giving impartial advice. However they are clearly now affiliated to Utility Warehouse, who are rubbish and charge me double compared to my previous provider. On top of this I am now receiving daily scam calls from different numbers which all seem to be from Energy Dundee.
For goodness sake avoid this lot.

Dundee Energy cold-call the confused& elderly - beware

Utilities Warehouse used this company (Dundee Energy) who cold-called my confused 89 yr old mother & 'persuded' her to sign up for gas, electricity & mobile phone accounts. (The DE4U salesman admitted to me over the phone that he realised she was 'confuused'). UW then required me to invoke my LPA to sort their mess out, which took several calls and 4 months to sort out (up until Aug). One of the UW staff said to me on the phone regarding Dundee Energy 'Yes, they are the worst, I hope you complain!' They told me then that all the accounts had been closed & reconciled. However they have now (in late Sept sent her a bill depending £19 for outstanding charges against a threat of court action! I have now had to phone UW again to get the charge waived, which they said they have done, but have refused to send a letter confirming that.

using Energy Dundee for 5 years now

I have been using Energy Dundee for over 5 years now and am delighted with their help and expertise. Especially Bronwyn who has been my “go to” girl for all my queries and requests. I recently passed my sons on to them for help and they too have received marvellous help.

Dodgy Sales Tactics

Like many people on here I got involved when my Mum queried why she had a new SIM card.

The Utilities Warehouse people were very good when I contacted them to query when I couldn’t get hold of ED4U.

Fault seems to be with Sales Person from ED4U who didn’t explain things properly and seems to have played fast and loose with the truth.

Energy Dundee used to be a reputable company but do seem to have changed tack!

I'm generally very sceptical about engaging in unasked for calls however I am extremely pleased that I chatted with Bronwyn as she was most helpful and ended up saving me a considerable amount through changing both my energy supplied, and my broadband (including mobile sim card).
She also followed up a few weeks later to double check everything had been put in place properly and was working to my satisfaction.

Poor service, pushing Utilites Warehouse

Hi, Ive just had a similar issue with my elderly mother being pushed onto a expensive contract with Utilites Warehouse including a sim card that she didn't need.

Less than a month into her contract the have doubled what they are charging her for gas. I walked into the house this morning to find her trying to change back to her previous provider.
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is she has had sucess with Energy Dundee before but this seems to be a change of tact.

I received a call from my 89 year old…

I received a call from my 89 year old Mother in a very confused state. She had been called by this company with a view to switching her energy to guess who Utilities Warehouse but in her confused state she did not understand what was going on and she was happy with EDF paying 55GBP per month and in credit with them. However, she then started getting communications from EDF (standard goodbye letter) and a flood from UW. On careful scrutinisation of their correspondence it appears it will be 84GBP for energy with a total of 125 GBP per month including Broadband and mobile phone. She has Broadband at 18 gbp per month and mobile with Giff Gaff at 6 gbp per month. There was no need for her to take this expensive alternative contract. Energy Dundee were left two messages for their broker to ring me and an email explaining my Mother`s situation no response to either. I hold a LPA for my Mother and it has taken me all day to unravel this mess and probably another day to be certain it is all clear. I can`t see on their website they are members of the TPI Code of Practise.

Pushy salesman

Very pushy salesman who seemed to want us to move to Utilities warehouse on a fixed rate. I got him to call back after I did a bit of homework myself before committing. I did some research and decided to fix with present supplier. When he called and I told him this he put the phone down on me. Not very professional. Think Energy Dundee are just agents o for Utilities Warehouse

Hi Mary our sincere apologies for your experience described above. Utility Warehouse are one of many partners we have in the utilities industry. Please can you email enquiries@energydundee4u.co.uk with your telephone number and post code and we will extract the call and deal with this internally. We are very disappointed this was your experience. For these situations to stop we need to identify the agent who acted in this manner. Many thanks and our apologies again.

Mockery

Shameful. Was advised to purchase the following : Gas, Electricity, House insurance, Plumbing cover , Electric cover, drainage cover, SIM card back up, A "cash back card" if i shopped at lidl or baynes bakery? . Ridiculos.

Was told i would be saving over £3000 on my energy for taking this fixed deal. Your "Agent" called Ben, has taken me for a mug shall we say . The best deal in years he said haha.

I'll press 2 stars on the review, lucky for you it's not 1. I've decided to hand out an extra star due to the way Ben handled the call and his commitment to lying and scamming me, he committed to this act for over 60 minutes . (Whilst putting on a female voice). Brilliant .

He told me my internet would not be interrupted, and that he would personally install the new fibre broadband to guarantee the speeds. I was expecting him at my door weeks ago, no show.

As we go further, my wife is 95 and disabled. she uses a stair master to get up and down the property. Ben pointed out that i would get a discount on the stair master, and that the standing charge would drop when she used it after midnight , to save money . Obv course this was garbage talk.

Don't be fooled like me. They're masters at the craft . I was convinced i was conversating with a female until the very end of the call and "he" announced his name was Benjamin but i was so appreciatively told i was allowed to call him Ben. Thank you so much .

Goodbye

Hi Mr Usher. I have searched our records and there is no Kane Usher on our systems. In regards to the following services House insurance, Plumbing cover , Electric cover, drainage cover, we do not process orders for these services. If you have taken out these services you would have had to do that personally.
Ben is a very sweet and mild mannered person. I am unsure as to why it would make a difference to you if he was male or female? I can assure you Ben would have NOT informed you he would install your broadband personally as this is always done by Openreach throughout the UK. Ben would have also NOT told you that you would receive a discount on your energy when using a stair master after 12am. Is that something you would do regularly anyway? All of our calls are recorded and if you would like us to investigate this further please contact our office on 01382 250449 or email enquiries@energydundee4u.co.uk
We are very good at our job here at Energy Dundee 4 U and we save thousands of people hundreds of pounds on their utilities every year. We are masters at that YES!
