I signed up for their premier service for 24.99 when I received my credit card statement there was an additional charge by them for 14.63 I called them and was told they didn't charge other than the 24.99 the following month after canceling I was charged 14.63 again this has happened for 7 months now. I have called every month been assured it would be looked into and refunded, and that no I don't have an account and yes my service was cancelled. I've sent them copies of my statements and spent countless hours on the phone with them and yet the billing continues. Avoid these scam artists at all costs and since they are privy to all our personal information they need to be government regulated. They offer to help prevent you from fraud while they commit it.

I discovered that Equifax lowered my credit score because I had issues with a credit card that i added my son as an authorized user on. i contacted them and the representative that attended to me was not only very rude, she also could not communicate properly with me. The score kept dipping for more than 6 months before I finally got my hands on Credit Restoration that was now able to remove the card for me after equifax and the bank said they were unable to do it. This guys are not for us, they are against us with all their actions.

Don't ever get involved in this company

If there was an award for worst company to deal with. Equifax would be the winner. I had a subscription and tried to cancel it.... There is no option on the website, no they make you phone them, and let you go through a gruelling set of questions to identify your identity and then they try to sell you the lower package. The poor guy on the other end, could hardly speak English and probably didn't understand half what he was saying. I literally had to yell at him, CANCEL and NO NO NO.
Never ever again. There are so many other options nowadays, and for free. And on top of that, the information in my credit report wasn't even correct.
Please avoid this company at all cost.

I tried to cancel an account

I tried to cancel an account. They try to make it as difficult as possible. Eventually spoke to a supervisor who was beyond rude. When I said I will not use their services anymore, he said "Glad to hear that!"

Do not use Equifax. The information they had was 3 years old and most of the reports were"temporary not available" for the whole month that we had a membership.

Unhappy consumer

Everyone in the office don't know what to do or assist the customer, I did a dispute for 10 yrs now that they are reporting someone under my husband name, it is impacting us every time we try to get a loan for something that person file is in our report and when they want a loan or any financial institution is pull there credit it is impacting my husband credit tooo. Equifax when they get a file they just look at the first name and apply the report on the wrong person and they don't care or even try to fix it when the original person call in said that it is not them. I have been trying for the past 10 years trying to remove this person name of my husband credit report we when to the office on Yonge St in person that did not resolve even in person is useless. We did dispute on line a couple time and it is still not resolve too what the hell do we need them for, to impact us as a consumers and a person or an idiot to let Equifax F*** every time. Every time you want a report you have to pay them for the service but why are we paying someone who don't know what the hell they are doing. Equifax is the most unprofessional office or enterprise in the world......

Good luck.

The call center workers not only don't speak english, but struggle to understand it as well. Not only are they agressive and belittling but they don't explain what they are doing with personal info.

Seious communication problem with Customer Service

This comopany needs to hire customer service reps whose first language is English. I had a very frustrating time understanding the accents of the agents on the phones. It appears the service is hired out to a place overseas because they don't want to pay Canadians a decent wage. They obviously do not speak English as a first language. After a long wait of over an hour the day before but never did make contact, the first agent I connected with today became impatient with me because I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. There were other issues that we could not resolve. She would not let me talk to a supervisor. She simply ignored my request. So I had to call back again. The next agent could not hear me at all and put me on hold. I gave up waiting and called again. Finally I got an agent who was a bit better but I had to agree to some questions not really understanding them because of her accent, but I was so frustrated I wanted the call completed. This is NOT good! This was a total of four calls. I would not deal with this company again and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone else simply because of the terribly frustrating time I had with customer service.

Scammy business practices

Emailed me saying that my plan is going to be canceled because my credit card is expiring. I was glad, because you can not cancel the plan yourself (they don't have a cancelation button and force you to call in). Instead of doing that, they kept charging my expired card for 2 years.

Don't expect any viable help by phone from Equifax.

Found out via Borrowell that Equifax lowered my credit rating by 42 points. The reason given was that my credit card account had been closed. I called Visa to see what was going on only to find out that there was nothing wrong with my Visa account. When I called Equifax to speak with someone. The representative I spoke with in the Phillipines (I'm in Canada) said it was because my credit card balance was 0. I said I keep my balance at 0 because I pay for any purchases I make the same day. She couldn't tell me how to get my credit rating back up where it was or what to do.

Don’t waste your time with this awful company. I signed up for a free trial to check my credit score. It kept saying it could not process that request. I got nothing out of it. When I called, by the way you have to call them to cancel a free trial or it automatically signs you up for a subscription, they don’t have an online option to cancel. I could never get ahold of them I tried and tried. The message always said they had higher then normal call volumes then hung up. A few days later when I eventually got through they had already charged me for a month and refused to credit me back. Horrible company and their customer service is despicable!!

- I moved from Canada to New Zealand in December of 2019. Before leaving I called Equifax to cancel my account. - I noticed I was still being charged early 2020 and made several attempts to call but couldn’t ever get through to them from abroad. I started sending emails to the support team to cancel my account, with zero response back. - this company knowingly took my money despite the fact I repeatedly asked for the account to be cancelled and has scammed me out of over $1200. - this company has countless reviews online showing a pattern of incompetence and an unwillingness to have a straight forward and easy way to cancel their subscription based product.

WORST EVER

WORST EVER
If I could give negative stars I would I have been trying to get the information on my report corrected for 6 months-and have had NO results - have sent the backup documents several times, opened 3 tickets, with each one "escalated" to be addressed in immediately-and it is still not fixed. - Asked to speak to a supervisor, and got cut off.
So not only do they report the wrong information, they are holding up the purchase of a house as the banks uses Equifax rather than Trans Union....which is reporting the correct information.

The company has actually turned into a SCAM To cancel service you have to call and argue about it with the costumer service agents who will lie. They purposely put errors on your account, you have to sign up and pay money to see them. They then take over 30 days to respond so you have to pay another month subscription to get an answer. they have been misreporting my score for years now It really is strange. They are refusing to report 2 years worth of ontime payments as a positive factor. A credit score is supposed to have the positive factors calculated into. My score with transunion is 70pts higher the equifax. Nobody likes equifax and people are not going to use them much longer

Today I spoke with one of their agents

Today I spoke with one of their agents, Cindy. She asked me to pay $39.49 in order to unlock my account. During the conversation my wife checked her account and was offered to pay $11.24 for two persons, so she just added me there, so I asked her to cancel the subscription for $39.49 but she said I have to call Equifax again. I asked her why the amount was so high and she lied that it was because my account was locked. I asked why it was locked and she said I cancelled my subscription before, so the subscription now is expensive. It was ridiculous. When I called the second time, she was on the line again and refused to return money back with the explanation that it was impossible. I asked her last name for a complaint and she did not give it to me, saying that she was not allowed to do that. Sounded weird. She just hung up the phone. I had to call again to dispute the amount of charge and the guy on the phone finally helped me. First, Cindy lied to me about the cost of the subscription, then said I need to cancel it by calling the second time, she did not explain to me that I need to dispute the charge, Second, it is not polite to hang the phone. Overall, she lied a lot and was not helpful to me at all.

There was a double entry of a company in their database. I thought the person I wanted to background check had two similar sounding companies and paid twice for both files, only afterwards found out its the same thing. Thanks to the customer support the payment was refunded.

The customer service employees need to…

The customer service employees need to be investigated that they are actually doing their job. I called months ago to be told the problem would be solved only to see that it was never solved. They have to constantly "check their resources" and then give false advice/statements which is baffling for a credit bureau since said statements could impact someones life.

I am almost certain their pre-recorded telephone audio is tactically made/used in hopes of getting you to hang up, repeating the same line over and over. Half of the employees cant even speak proper english which is also baffling for such an "important" credit breau trying to explain important things that you cant even make out.

USE TRANSUNION INSTEAD

Canceling was an incredibly frustrating ordeal. They won't allow you I reached out and endured a lengthy hold, only to be met by a representative who seemed intent on making the process as difficult as possible. Despite confirming my identity with an exhaustive barrage of at least 10 questions, she persisted with even more inquiries about my accounts. When I finally insisted on canceling, she attempted to sway me with a discount offer, followed by requests for additional sensitive information and more questions to confirm my accounts. Frustrated and exhausted, I eventually gave up and terminated the call. It seems I'll have to resort to canceling the credit card that they have on file for payment.

I also had an account with transunion to compare the two scores (they were always different) and transunion is run like a normal ethical company and makes the cancellation process easy.

Odd company - zero service

1. If you sign up - beware - it is virtually impossible to cancel your account. No one answers, forms are submitted but no action taken - very suspicious.
2. Waste of time they don't send notices if your credit rating changes. They only alert when someone makes an enquiry, which likely you know about anyway if getting a loan.
Save your money, time and mega-frustration with their "operators" and dodgy review at the end of each call.
