Disgusting company. Cynical staff who add unwanted insurance retrospectively. We didn't even book with them. Booking.com told us our booking was with Thrifty who subcontracted it to Firefly. The Span... See more

DO NOT RENT FROM FIREFLY CAR HIRE, THEY WILL COST YOU MONEY
rented a car from firefly at alicante via holiday autos for the amazing price of £7.49p of course I expected to pay more when I went to the airport desk
and i was asked for another 50 euros which was to cover roadside assistance which i already had and unlimited mileage which I did not need,
this sum was on my september credit card bill, on my october credit card was another charge for £68 I asked holiday autos what this charge was for and they contacted firefly and i was told it was for insurance, as I had taken out insurance with AXA I had no need for this and had not asked for it. this company firefly are not to be trusted, I have paid almost £100
above the intial rental cost, not including my AXA insurance, do not rent from this company as they are scammers, I must add that holiday autos
were not to blame and tried to help me as best they could.
Dire:- Appalling- have potentially been…
Dire:- Appalling- have potentially been charged twice by Vehicle Rent and Firefly for rental and other costs have not been transparent.
I have been in communication with both parties for weeks- both unhelpful, with VR (Maja) asking for copies of documents and credit card statements despite having my details and the agreement number. Will never use again. I have now written to VR and Firefly/ Hertz yet again today.
In addition to this we had an absolutely hideous experience at Valencia airport upon arrival;- we were kept waiting in the extremely hot car park rather than the air conditioned unit for over an hour and a half (with children). We were spoken to by one associate in a very aggressive manner when going into the unit to check where we were in the queue- the associates were not updating the numbering system- causing much irritation to those waiting- many also with children in the heat, without seating or water.
Firefly car rental - appalling
Appalling. If you have no credit card (a debit card is no good) you can't have the car unless you pay additional 225 euros for full insurance. Then what they don't tell you is that there is also additional 47 euros VAT. So, the car may seem very cheap to book on line but if you don't have a credit card the price increases by 3 or 4 times. Also having taken the car I need to contact firefly at Alicante Airport. I rang them more than 20 times and nobody picked up Checked the number on the Internet and it was the right number. Appalling company and appalling customer service Strongly recommend you hire from another company.
Have been caught out with the Full-Full…
Have been caught out with the Full-Full scam with companies before. Firefly at Alicante have this off to a fine art. Nothing in the small print when you book but when you pick up the car and fob off the usual hard sell and scare tactics for CDW (I insure in the UK for £40 for a whole year) you are informed that the tank must be filled up at a local petrol station and receipt shown on return. Station is close to airport but a PITA to get to as its on a one way system. Hmm - wonder why this station appeared quite recently?? When you drive car away you are aware that the tank j-u-s-t about shows full but is very far from it. It would be good to spend the time to document the distance to empty when the car was picked up and then retruned at their pet petrol station.Would also be good to film them syphoning off the extra fuel round the back of the building! Yes they are cheap but you pay for it in other ways so you arent getting a fair comparison when compare to others that are more honest.
A really bad experience
Waited 4 hours to get the car in Barcelona airport. Rude employees that did not Care about their customers. We had in advance sent our flight details and where told that our car Would be ready at arrival.
Further we should pay a number og fees which we where not originally told i the agreement!
I Will not recommend anyone to use firefly due to the above!
EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE AVOID
The prices quoted on the website appear reasonable. The company had no affiliation at all with Firefly who the actual car rental was with; only discovered this once I arrived at Barcelona airport. I was subsequently charged again - having paid over 80 euros for a 10 day rental from economy which stated I had insurance- I was then required to pay a further 382 euros with firefly which included a compulsory 190 euros insurance. I had no options at all as FIREFLY claimed my booking with economy bookings did not constitute a contract. Furthermore as apparently my credit card *did not work* (it does) I was required to debit the 382 euros from my account. Thus a rental I believed was costing me 80 euros for ten days has actually cost me over 460 euros, for an opal corsa (a small car.). They have mis-sold services under the services and goods act.
Avoid at all costs.
Avoid - only interested in selling additional insurance- euro 120 for a week's hire. When you return the car they pretend to find damage and charge extortionate damage costs.
Real cowboys. You have been warned.
