Diabolical Customer Service

Recently our charger stopped working after just a year and a half. The yellow light was flashing and our Tesla was saying we weren’t authorized to use the charger. We emailed and the first day got immediate response. After a full days work of emailing back and forth, the woman “Veronica” said they were told to replace our charger. 4 days later I’ve emailed to inquire about the label they said they would send us.
The 5th day they want me to record the issue so they can analyze the issue!

I do not recommend as they do not honor their warranty and give you a LONG drawn out experience for defective products.

Buying a Tesla product at this point because they clearly don’t have a viable product they stand by.

Dec 16 I received an email that they were going to replace the defective product and attached the label, they then asked me to email them when I’ve shipped them the defective product, “ Unfortunately, we don’t receive automatic notifications for returns, so a quick email from you when the package is on its way will allow us to check our inventory and promptly begin processing your replacement.”

That statement alone speaks volumes they sent the label they can check the tracking but I sent them the email they requested. Then on the 18th they requested I remove this review.

I’m not even sure why as the process was horrible and it’s the truth.

I shouldn’t have to write a negative review for a company to honor their warranty.

This is where this company needs to invest automation in how they receive their emails for defective products. A customer should not have to email pictures, triage the product via email, and go back and forth for days for a replacement.

You all need a 1-800 number so people we can answer questions you have, then you all can triage and try to fix the issue but to have your customers wait days and give them the run around is not good customer service.

Not removing this, here is a fair warning the product is decent and works, it may or may not stop working within two years.

Since Teslas home charger is $450 and theirs is $250 spend the extra $200 from Tesla and get theirs! Tesla is a bigger company and hopefully they have a better product and customer service.

EV-Lectron Customer Service lacking but product functions as designed

Ordered and was provided a BestBuy order number and then... crickets. No link online for customer service that would put me in direct contact with a human. BB says the order number is invalid.

Epilogue - The item was at Best Buy. Their Customer Service rep said that notification of 3rd-party orders ONLY comes from the 3rd party. I ordered this directly on the EV-Lectron site but it appears that they may have some type of relationship with SHOP so it may be that SHOP may be the problem. Still not sure why they (Shop perhaps) dropped the ball as I still have not received any notification and the site is useless. I was able to collect the Vortex and it did work correctly at a Tesla Supercharger so I have raised the rating on this to 3-stars for functionality.

Lousy product quality, poor customer service

Buyer beware! Lectron’s products are of questionable quality, based on my experience. And their customer support is tone-deaf.

I purchased the Lectron 40ft/12m J1772 Extension Cable compatible with All J1772 EV Chargers. Didn’t use the cable for the 1st few months as we had access to free L2 charging. After 6 months of use, once we started to use the extension cable — charged our 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV every 3-4 weeks, mileage currently at 17.5K miles — the cable started fraying on the end that includes the J1772 extension adapter end in early Jan 2024 (pls contact me for photos a I’m unable to paste on this comments site). I used duct tape to cover over the fraying and secure the cable to the adapter, and we continued to use the extension cable — being very careful to not bend the cable at the point where it connects to the adapter.

Yet the cable continued to fray to the point where the individual colored inner wires are now exposed (pls contact me for photos). We are now concerned about the safety of continued use! I contacted Lectron customer support and they denied my request for a new extension cable or any sort of partial refund, even though the issue is clearly one of manufacturing quality!

Do not trust Lectron for your EV charging needs

Edited:

After much battling, Lectron EV did decide to refund the adapter, so I have bumped the rating from 1 to 2 stars. It should never be this hard.

I received a new product from Lectron for Christmas -- a new Kia EV to Tesla Supercharger adapter that would give me freedom to drive further. I was so excited to have this. So, day after Christmas, I went to a charging station to charge, connected the adapter and the Telsa app, only to discover this charger didn't work. This was a month after sending my sister the link to buy me the gift, which was right went the new charger was released.

I sent an email to Lectron with the link, only to be told that the Tesla network would not be available until Jan. 15 and that the adapter I have would not work for it's marketed purpose. I would have to purchase the NEW new adapter -- another nearly $200 -- for it to work.

Back and forth with Lectron. Send a picture -- here is a picture and again, the direct link. Send the receipt -- it was a Christmas gift, she doesn't have it. Can't I exchange like other companies and pay the difference -- we don't exchange. Can't I give you her name and contact info in place of a receipt -- yes and I send it. We won't do anything unless you send us the receipt and buy the $200 NEW new one.

Generally good product and absolute worst company and "customer service" ever. Spend the 45 minutes charging your EV on long trips. Do not spend a dime with this awful, awful company.

It’s been three weeks since I ordered…

It’s been three weeks since I ordered and it still has not shipped. When I first notified the team after waiting one week in the pre shipping phase, I was told to wait 24-48 more hours. Then 72 hours later I received an email that they would ship another order. That order is still in pre shipment phase. Meanwhile I keep getting emails about 7% off my next order, but no discount can be given for waiting three weeks to receive a product.

Basically this experience matches the average Electrify America experience - this is the part that ruins EVs

Tesla Charger Converter

Purchased a Tesla to J-1772 converter. Haven’t needed it yet, but it’s a solid, well-built item. It arrived on-time with no problems. Very happy with the purchase!

My Second Order For A 20 Ft EV…

My Second Order For A 20 Ft EV Extension Cable Was Very Poorly Packed Arriving With A Banged Up Shipping Box. First Order For a 40 Ft EV Extension Cable Was Also Arriving With A Torn Up & Ripped Box Which I Reported To Your Company. Even The Postal Clerk Said That The Box I picked Up Today When Through A Workout. Amazingly Both Items Appeared Not Damaged.
