Great communication!!!

Excess International Movers took over our shipment after the company we booked with folded without shipping our goods. Excess international Movers had to take over our case, and Vanessa made it so easy!! She kept us in the loop throughout and made what was quite a stressful time incredibly straightforward! The communication from her was excellent and I finally felt my belongings were in safe hands. I would thoroughly recommend this company, and wish we had booked with them from the get go!

The people I had contact with made it…

The people I had contact with made it great. Always helpful and they were so flexible in just little things I needed. I must mention Metua Carson from the booking/quote process for having a can do approach. Special thanks to Vanessa CAIRNS who did the processing and followup- excellent phone and email skills were spot on. She was friendly and reassuring. She makes it feel not as scary ! This company was not the cheapest quote but so good we have used them twice. Excellent.

Vanessa Cairns was amazing to deal…

Vanessa Cairns was amazing to deal with! The company we had originally engaged went into liquidation and Excess International had to tidy up the mess that had been left. Vanessa was polite and communicated regularly with us. She was very empathetic towards our situation. We can’t thank her enough. Great work Vanessa!!

7 months and no shipment. Do not use this company.

We worked with an international moving company who used this company for a shared container and we were told 7-9 weeks for delivery. 7 months later we still have our shipping everytime I ask the question they ignore it. At this time I believe they lost our shipment and we will be reporting them through official channels just to get an answer.
Dreadful customer service and terrible company. When my family move internationally we will be certain to never use excess-international again.
I am aware there are delays to shipping since the pandemic but these companies should at least have the decency to let their customers know where their shipment is currently.

Appalling company

Appalling company. We had paid in full for delivery by sea freight. They came back to us a couple of months later demanding more money because they claimed their shipping costs had increased. I explained that this would have to be a cost they would incur (in the same way that airlines don't ask you for more money once you've paid, just because their business costs increase..) but they tried to direct me to a clause in their Terms and conditions that allowed them to increase their charge (even after payment). The clause clearly did not allow for this, but when I pointed this out, they threatened to simply return the goods they had collected from us (knowing full well that in the majority of people's situations, this would never be an option). So please be aware - once they have your goods there is nothing to stop them demanding more money even after payment and contract has been fully executed, because they will threaten to return your goods. Secondly, they advised 10-16 weeks for delivery by shipment, but we are currently on week 23 and still no update about when our boxes will be delivered. I'm sure they would blame this on some sort of extenuating circumstance, outside of their control, but they know how shipping works - they should not be advising 10-16 weeks, to lure customers in, when the reality is probably more like 22-30 weeks (or longer..we'll see). If they were honest about delivery time, it would allow customers to plan their move.

Excess International Movers - Relocation to Spain

Excess International Movers handled our move to Spain expertly and were always on hand to answer any questions regarding documentation of packing of boxes. An extra thank you to Nick who made our move extremely easy and stress-free, I would 100% contact Nick again in the future to organise any international move.

Belongings Moved From Singapore to England

I moved 8 boxes of personal belongings (mostly records) from a storage unit in Singapore to my home in England. I dealt with Nick Gjura who couldn’t have been more helpful. He made the seemingly complicated paperwork easy to understand and answered all of my questions promptly. Communication by DHL in Singapore was poor but fortunately it didn’t impact on the process and my goods arrived in England the day after they were picked up in Singapore. They were received at my home on the arranged date and were all undamaged. A job done very well.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. You might be one of the lucky ones but don't risk it. Others have also highlighted just how poor Metua is and I would agree, I just wish I had read all these bad reviews first.
I don't know where to start with how bad this went with my shipment from Canada to UK.The collect team refused to come across a bridge to my property leaving us to ferry the items in our own car to them. Shipment took weeks long than they highlighted and obviously externalised the blame. Despite giving explicit restricted access instructions they sent the wrong vehicle leaving me once again ferrying my own goods to the house. The team didn't even help me in, leaving me trying to get a 150lbs pizza oven out of my car on my own. To top it all off they had damaged so many items and Metua refused any blame despite picture evidence from both end - disgusting!

Very bad experience

I dealt with a sales representative called Metua with a basic two-bed international move from the UK. He was fairly approachable up until the point of sending across the quote, whereupon things rapidly deteriorated. Metua was extremely unclear on the finances side despite me really spelling it out to him on numerous occasions. I would agree costs with him on the phone and he'd belatedly send across incomplete quotes, or list a cost as excluded when you'd agreed it was included on the call.

You will have to consider the logistics of the entire door-to-door pipeline with your move and everything that can go wrong along the way when dealing with this company, because you aren't going to get much elaboration or guidance from them beyond the obvious. All kind of gotchas and hidden costs that they don't make clear at all from the offset. These include size of van constraints which can lead to two-day vs one-day moves with significant additional charges for the second day, three removal people vs two for basic moves which they fully charge you additionally for, heavy charges for lifts being out of service and their removal men having to traverse a small flight of stairs, etc. Their insurance policy is also ill-constructed, misleading, and contains several ambiguities that will leave the perceptive among you with inevitable follow-up that again just isn't made clear at all from the outset even if you request for it to be so.

Was very painful getting proper responses by email from Metua, in particular. It's taken me two weeks of back and forth, persistent chasing of emails only to be often met with confused, vague one-liners from him several days later.

I decided to walk away in the end as I found several competitors that were markedly more approachable and clear-cut. One has to be careful generalizing beyond a single employee, of course, but I would strongly recommend not bothering with Excess.

On the plus side I have acquired some useful information on international shipping that I have been able to use to my advantage, owing to Metua's disinterest and incompetency.

Best International Movers by a mile

I booked Excess International Movers for my move from London to Toronto. We had a 3-bed in London and moved most things apart from wardrobes and beds/mattresses.

First, I got quotes from 6 companies that were of high standard and FIDI (others too) regulated, and theirs was the lowest. They promised a 3-3.5 month delivery timeline due to COVID issues in December (our packing date was 23 Dec 2021). They promised full professional packing at home, and unpacking in Toronto with boxes removed. I own a set of dear hi-end sounds system that needed crating and additional mechanical and electrical insurance, plus an electric piano, Persian rugs, and antiques.

The London movers were the politest, nicest, most efficient movers I have seen in my life. They packed everything and the quality and speed of packing was phenomenal. We got our stuff a week short of 3 months, the delivery people in Toronto (a company called QMM (Quality Move Management) were equally professional, the coordinator at QMM made the delivery much quicker than initially indicated, customs was a not an issue, and only one plate and 3 glasses were damaged (out of 82 boxes). The cheapest quote have us the best service you can imagine and if I ever happen to move again, I won't look anywhere else.

Great experience from start to finish

Great experience from start to finish. Matua was very helpful and responsive as well as knowledgable. Our shipment was delayed but that was the due to COVID impact.
When issues arise they always help work through them.

Unresponsive once they have your money

I choose Excess International because they were quick to contact me, cheap, and could offer collection at short notice. However, from the moment the collection was confirmed they were lax in responding to questions and they do not provide updates along the processes leaving one to worrying about being fined for storage costs because of the lack of confirmatory communication. My luggage arrived after four months instead of the maximum of two months promised and I received no information unless I specifically sought it out. When I unpacked my luggage there were items missing. I have since asked several times and via multiple channels for information on how to reach their insurance provider but have received no response. I will not use them again.

Good start, frustrating finish.

We moved from the UK to Thailand in August and shipped 13 boxes of stuff. Total ship time 17 weeks.

Pre move: Communication was good, we had a few different quotes for different amounts of boxes and specialty items like TV's and the communication was timely and all questions were answered. We waited 10 days extra for our boxes to be delivered to us in the UK but this was more down to the incompetency of TNT.

Collection: Was made by TNT (but the guy who turned up didn't have TNT van or uniform so may have been a subcontractor) I was a little concerned that I was given no receipt or tracking number for all our belongings that had been collected.
COLLECTION ON 17 JULY

Unfortunately this is where the customer service took a massive nose dive.

Having handed our worldly belongings over to the TNT man and paid our £700 (ish), we waited and waited and waited for an update. It got to a point where I was emailing excess a couple of times a week (from Thailand) for an update and didn't always get a response. I appreciate that COVID was making things difficult for everyone and impacting on shipping schedules etc, but for almost 12 weeks we waited for an update on when our items would be shipped, no sniff of when our stuff was even leaving the country.

Delivery in country:

SATURDAY 14 NOVEMBER - Our stuff was finally delivered. We were not told when our belongings would be delivered, they just turned up while we were away, luckily our neighbours were able to sign for the delivery.

Annoyingly having flown over what we thought we would need for the first 6 weeks (based on the longest estimate of 15 weeks ship time) we had to pay out in country for some items we were shipping out as they just didn't arrive in a reasonable time frame.

The extended time I could almost handle IF we had had a weekly update about our belongings other than being told the container isn't full, with no guidance on what would happen if the container was never full, how long would we be expected to wait. It just felt a little bit like once we had handed over our things and our money no-one contacted us. The online shipment tracking was never updated and I only followed the shipping vessel on line.

Brilliant

Brilliant!
I rarely write reviews. Its probably down to the fact that people seldom appreciate good work and if things are terribly wrong you are literally fighting to get them right.
Excess International movers deserve their 5 stars.

Nick is brilliant, prompt and seems to have a solution for everything. They partnered with DHL for my shipment of over 150 kgs of unaccompanied baggage and to be honest the process appears simpler on their website than that on DHL's website. There is a small price difference but in all honesty worth the no hassle, one point contact and prompt response. I would without doubt consider them in future. Thanks for your help Nick

Extremely Professional Service!

We just moved house with Excess International Movers and it could not have run any smoother!

The company was excellent, they came round a week before our move to quote the job so that on the day everything was pre planned and organised.

On the day, the removals men were very friendly, extremely hard working and were respectful and gentle with all of our belongings!

We are so grateful that they made our move STRESS FREE!

Highly recommended!

Magnificent from A to B

Magnificent , friendly and highly professional service and top communication from Start to finish .
I can only recommend these people and their company . Everything went so smoothly and exactly as arranged. No nasty surprises and the manager ( Charlie) is most obliged to iron out any small issues one may have .
This is the second time I use Excess international, and both times everything went wonderfully. They show empathy for your situation and will Taylor a solution to your needs . Pricing is very competitive.
I look forward to my next move ! Won’t be using any one else ... Try them , you will be satisfied !

Many thanks to Nick Gjura. His attentiveness and access made the move much less stressful and was left confident. He wea available to answer my questions and returned calls.
It was a very good experience as you are never sure what you get on the internet. The only reason it was not 5 stars was the mixup on the other end that he had no control over.
