My account was frozen since February…

My account was frozen since February 22, and Im out of money until now. 4 months have passed and all they have done is sayin sorry for delay. "Terry Benion" who is my relationship manager is extremely rude and on purpose delayed my issue for months because he got offended I asked for help on LinkedIn.

Can't get statements for current accounts

On the HSBC Expat web and mobile apps the statements for my current accounts are missing since August 2023.

I called HSBC Expat customer service about the issue and I was told that my account is switched to paper statements and that's the reason why no statements are available online.

I never requested paper statements and also I never received any paper statements by mail at all.

For the last 10 days, I'm calling customer service by phone and trying to get statements for my current accounts with no luck. After several calls I just made a little progress. After one call, they managed to email me the statements until February 2024. After another call, in the app, I was able to see a half-May 2024 statement. But my statements for March and April are completely missing.

In every call, the customer service officer requests the statements to be generated and tells me that I'll get the statements in the next 24-48 hours but it's not happening.

Just getting simple statements shouldn't be that hard. Really disappointing!

Shocking customer service

HSBC closed an open complaint without resolution which is extremely shoddy. The chat operators least try to help but I still do not have what I need. Frustratingly if you call phone banking they say use chat and chat says use phone banking as we cannot help. This has been going on for over a week with HSBC saying within 48 hours then do not deliver followed by it will be in 48 hours. If it didn’t waste so much time and wasn’t so expensive it would be funny - so much for being a premier customer.

Masters of applying rules in a shady way..keep away!

Seems like HSBC Expat (Jersey) only job these days is to freeze customer accounts (new or existed will be hunted) and generate profits from our money.
You can't complain because you agreed on the following Joke!
(The legal document relevant to you are the terms & conditions governing your HSBC CIIOM bank account. The HSBC CIIOM current bank account terms and conditions (page 3 “Information we need from you […]”) require that, when HSBC reasonably request it, account holders provide HSBC with information about themselves, their wealth, and the sources of their wealth to HSBC, as well as payments and transactions you undertake or plan to undertake.)

They do their best to stretch your funds freeze time on purpose asking repeated questions, informations and documents and manytimes ignore your emails and have to keep chasing them!
While they practice such legal right they use your money to generate money for themselves .
When your case cleared (if cleared) they will not pay you any interests nor compensations nor say sorry for interrupting your financial plans!

You can't do anything for them because they are professional in what they do living on isolated island hard to reach!
Unfortunately regulators know about what they do but keeping their license active... it's a shame!

I am sure this bank is operating as a fraud under the HSBC banner. They put a hold on ours accounts for 5 months because my wife got a letter wrong in the senders name. The attitude of the staff is beyond awful and they pass you from pole to post in a seemingly never ending loop. If your money is in this bank remove it asap.

Unable to log in or contact by phone.

In 2022 never had any issues logging in to my HSBC Premier account on a browser, using the app, or contacting them by phone. This year am unable to do any of these after trying multiple times over multiple months.

Avoid the bank at all cost!

Absolutely appalling experience with Expat. They have demonstrated a complete lack of respect and competence in handling their customers' accounts.

Without so much as a courtesy heads-up, they decided to play judge, jury, and executioner by blocking my account out of the blue. And what was my heinous crime, you ask? Merely utilizing their own "global transfer feature" to move a few measly thousand bucks within my own account. No suspicious activity, no red flags—just normal banking behavior.

When I reached out to their customer service for answers, all I got was a canned response about their so-called "safeguard team" needing to review my account. Fine, I thought, justice will prevail. But two months later, and I'm still in the dark. No updates, no explanations, nothing. It's like my money vanished into thin air.

Thank the heavens I hadn't deposited my entire life savings into their clutches. If I had, I'd be staring down the barrel of financial ruin thanks to their arbitrary account freeze.

And you know what? Even if they miraculously decide to unfreeze my account someday, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. Who's to say they won't pull the same stunt again? I refuse to be held hostage by a bank that treats its customers like inconveniences rather than valued clients.

Save yourself the headache and steer clear of the bank. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Is the worst bank customer service in…

Is the worst bank customer service in the WORLD. I am used to work in Singapore with City Bank, in Qatar with IBQ, in Spain with Santander, USA with City Bank, my sons in UK with Lloyd.
HSBC is a complete disaster, with overseas phillipinos attending customer service, with complex procedures of “security” measures AGAINST the user, with amazing burocracy. Not recommended at all.

3 times of account review. Now account frozen.

Get account reviewed and restricted only for remittance from other people. Just before one of the deposit matured. I cannot deal with it and brings loss. Kidding me? I need to provide payslip, statements and much more things, and the safeguard team keeps asking new materials. I will definitely close account after all my fix term mature.

I sent a transfer from my account in…

I sent a transfer from my account in HSBC Expat to my account in Switzerland.
3 days later, I still had not received the funds into my Swiss account.
I made 8 requests for information, for 17 days and their reply was "the transfer is being processed".
It turns out that the transfer was rejected on day 1.
HSBC Expat's customer service were too lazy to conduct a proper trace until after 17 days had passed.
To make matters worse, they deducted EUR37 to recall the transfer.
Very disappointing indeed!

Fraudulent policy

Having bank accounts in numerous parts of the world, I have never experienced such fraudulent actions as in HSBC Expat, after opening the bank account and depositing the minimum amount of USD 100,000 required, the account has been blocked without prior notice and until today, after 7 months I have not been notified of the reason or the steps to follow to release the funds. Even by contacting Director Warwick Long it is not feasible to obtain a response. HSBC continues with its usual pirate act.

Treated poorly after husband death bereavement

HSBC expat bereavement team is ridiculous, it's been over 2 weeks and they have failed to respond to death notification. Daily calls on my part, sometimes twice - with the bereavement team not responding at all. You get a call center in the Philippines who say they don't anything, and can only reach to the bereavement center via email. No supervisors available. They ask for call back number and nobody ever called me back. 2 weeks, folks, hundreds of thousands invested with this bank, premier status. No resolution as we speak, black whole.

Mr Oscar King is the worst CS in HSBC

The CS Mr Oscar King is the worst HSBC staff I met with, he didn't take serious to my case seriously.

He just used different excuses to reject giving us the referral bonus, which shows he didn't investigate, so all are wrong information. His attitude is bad, if your case is handled by him, then good luck.

Finally, another CS took over my and my friends' cases, then just 3 days, all done, and settled.

Utterly incompetent

Froze my accounts for no reason. 8 weeks to get access again. 20+ phone calls to call centre in the Philippines who are clueless. Finally got accounts reinstated, only for them to be placed ‘on hold’ again 4 hours later. Avoid this bank at all costs

Scam. Where can we report this to?

After finally getting an account opened, they restricted access to it before I could even fund it. Now, they won't let me close it. Looking at these other reviews, I'm just glad I didn't put money in yet.

There should be a zero stars button!

There should be a zero stars button!
HSBC should be broken up and shut down immediately.
Blocking an account without warning triggering chaos. After I requested the account be closed, they refused due to the block. Then when challenged HSBC deliberately damaged my credit file with a “Account closed due to suspicious activity” report. What the ….?
No accountability?, untouchable?
After the Hezbollah connection is revealed it will collapse overnight….. The Bank of England issue HSBC’s banking licence..
Complicit? Well….
What is going on people.. let’s look a little deeper shall we?
