Don't bother calling

I tried calling for a referral. I need a specialist for glaucoma. It was a waste of my time. I had permanent damage done to my vision by a quack eye doctor in Green Bay, WI. It is elder abuse and that passes for medical care in crappy ne WI. I received no help whatsoever. It's a waste of time to call. Even the useless senator from this state, Ms. Baldwin says the health care system is broken, but she does nothing to address the problem.

Eye Med insurance is a scam

Eye Med must get huge payouts from the select providers that they want you to do business with.
So if I go to a discount eye glass center where the total cost of frames, lenses and all the extras are around $200 I cannot get a single penny in reimbursement. If I go to one of their providers and spend $600 on the same, I could get a around $200 covered. So it's cheaper without EyeMed.

Wow (not in a good way)

Wow. Just TRY to talk to a person. The finance genius behind this company does everything they can NOT to talk to a customer. Call 'em. cycle of identification. Your question doesn't match our list? go connect you to agent...oh! not really. You hafta speak to a chatbot. Which doesn't help. Then try to get an agent by either asking or pressing zero and one gets disconnected. If you press "contact us" on the website? Page not found... again. just wow.

They processed my claim incorrectly & still haven't paid 5 months later

They processed my claim incorrectly - filing my husbands benefits against my account. It has taken me 4 months to literally just get that removed from my account. I have had to pay for all vision care out of pocket in the mean time. They still have not reimbursed us for his claim and now for my claim they chose to reimburse the provider even though I had to pay in full because my benefit was denied. I have been trying to get them to correct and pay our benefits for 5+ months. Not to mention its over priced for little to no benefit.

Very low quality customer service & services standards

I have a couple of months paying this insurance company and TODAY is my FIRST TIME trying to make an appointment with their network providers. What a stressful experience, I have more than an hour trying to find ANY OPTALMOLOGIST clinic near my home and what they sent me is just a list of some OPTOMETRIC clinics that just promotion to buy lenses etc. I need to make an appointment with a Eye Doctor to realize me eye exam and they just show me alternatives to buy lenses. Their customer service is just AI chat, they don't provide you a customer service phone number and when you find one searching at the internet the phone number is a automated system and in the internet the automayed chat just bring you to OPTOMETRISTS that is not what I'm looking for. After many tries they hang off the call and you need to start the cycle again without ANY HELP or assistance from the company. Very strong headeche experience and still without find a oftalmologist in their network and NOBODY help me either, I regret to change my previous eye insurance company.

The Temu of Vision Insurance

EyeMed is the absolute worst. Assured me they covered medically necessary contact lenses 100%, but NOPE. They don't give you a list of ophthalmologists, just eye clinics so when you need reimbursement for your MA lenses, you are SOL. Like, a layperson is supposed to know if someone's an optometrist vs. ophthalmologist. And good luck getting any info off their site. If you have a question via Contact Us, they reply with a one-time use code that expires in 15 minutes so you must stand around and wait to get that code OR ELSE. This is the Temu of eye insurance and I can't wait to kick these amateurs to the curb. ZERO stars

Impatient and Rude Representative

The agent I spoke with was rude and impatient. Responded to my questions like there was a problem. Then kept trying rushed me off of the call and proceeded by hanging up on me before I had the chance to inquire anything about my benefits in which that was the reason for my call. The young lady was rude, impatient, and disrespectful.

EyeMed provides misleading Benefit Summaries - DO NOT TRUST them

EyeMed is not insurance, they provided a benefit's sheet but did not pay what they said they would cover. They had the eye doctor reduce their costs and only covered $40 of the nearly $800 bill. I mailed in a dispute (cannot electronically deliver), they responded that I have Coinsurance and would have to pay for anything that remained, which is not what is stated on my Summary of Benefits. I will NEVER use EyeMed again, glad my employer lets me change benefits annually.

Eyemed scam

Per contract with medical mutual eyemed is to pay $300 towards eyeglasses. Instead they paid $180 and gave me runaround when confronted about ripping me off. Won't enroll in MM again.

Rude lady hung up on me!…

I called to get something straightened out whether my claim should be billed with EyeMed or my medical insurance and the rude lady didn’t want to answer my questions. She simply hung up on me! She didn’t want to deal with any questions! She should be fired. The second call I got a nice guy but it doesn’t make up for this rude lady. I’m thinking of changing because of her.

Eyemed double-charged me for a co-pay

Eyemed double-charged me for a co-pay on an eye exam. I contacted them several times to resolve the issue and get reimbursement. Not only have they’re not reimbursed me but they’ve wasted hours of my time going in circles with them. I didn’t choose them for insurance, BCBS MA did and it was a poor decision on their part.

Rip off

Unusable. They cover progressive lenses @ $150.. but have a $90 copay? Had to use optical store package making the purchase of 3 frames:lenses less expensive than using Eyemed. Basically wasted a year of monthly insurance fees. Horrible insurance coverage.

We signed up for VSP through GEHA

We signed up for VSP through GEHA. How we got serviced by EyeMed is still being investigated. In short, they cover almost nothing. What they say they cover is not what we wound up paying. Our eye specialist was shocked at how little they paid.

impossible to cancel

impossible to cancel. do not take out a policy with this company, you will be billed until you cancel your debit card. Their phone tree is an AI nightmare. It's dubious that anyone actually works here - it seems like there are no customer facing jobs, just automation on automation. Crooks, the lot of them.

EyeMed will not remimburse

In December 2024, I bought contact lenses online. I filed for reimbursement from EyeMed per my plan with them. I did not receive reimbursement. I contacted them and they said my claim was processed as valid, but they sent the check to an old address on file instead of the address I had provided on the reimbursement form. They supposedly sent a check to that wrong address several more times. After numerous customer service contacts, I got them to update my address. Now they claim they have sent a check several times to the right address. I have still received nothing. Each time, I have to wait on hold, then they start a two-week check trace before issuing a new check, and then they claim to have sent another check. At this point I don't believe that any check has been sent.

I would never recommend EYEMED to…

I would never recommend EYEMED to anyone not even my enemies. Dr. Rohit Sharma who is an in network Doctor with eyemed over billed me for glasses and i complained to Eyemed. Eyemed did not only support him extorting money from me they also gave me reasons why he over billed me, and that they would not do anything about it.
You cannot have a problem and run to them and they will save you. Rather they join and finish you, with some reasons that makes no sense..
