VSP uses to be good back in the days

VSP uses to be good back in the days. Now they are just corrupted stealing from hard working folks. So I checked to make sure Costco is in the network. Yes they are: however, VSP only covers $70.00 for frames instead of the full amount of $130.00. What kind of crap is this? Just because Costco offers good prices for their members DOEST IT GIVE THE RIGHT TO VSP TO ONLY ALLOW 70.00?? If that’s the case, then I should get lover premium for ins. coverage!! VSP =Thieves thieves thieves!!!

NIGHTMARE I was told that I missed the deadline to enroll. A year later, I enrolled, I paid the premium, and I was informed the next day that I had been enrolled for a #$%^&! YEAR. For a year, I had the insurance that I needed. Their emails all read: do not reply. Their phone service is minimal, AND THEY ARE SO POORLY FUNDED THAT THEY CANNOT POSSIBLY CONTACT THEIR CLIENTS BY SNAIL MAIL!!!!!!! I HAD NO CONFIRMATION OF ENROLLMENT, NO ID CARDS ARE EVER SENT ???? HOW ARE THEY EVEN CONDUCTING BUSINESS? AS A SIDELINE DELT DENTAL????? NIGHTMARE

BREAKING THE LAW

Inaccuracies on website on purpose. You can’t shop out of network even though website says you can file to do so. The place in network cost almost double for contacts and I hear the same for glasses. They make you pay for a full year of contacts in order to get that discount which is more expensive than paying elsewhere out of pocket. They don’t tell you the contact lenses benefit is wrapped into the eye exam. They tied us into a year contract but based on the laws in my state that’s not legal.
We called and canceled and requested reimbursement.

Three days in and nothing

I just got this insurance a couple days ago and I haven’t even been able to get into my account even though I’ve put all my accurate information in there. I haven’t been able to get any help. I finally seem to get a grievance form filled out, but who knows if they’ll ever read it because the way they made me write it was definitely for AI to understand and not a person. “”Worst insurance company ever!!

Avoid This Insurance: Poor Transparency and Frustrating Customer Experience

VSP Vision Insurance has been an extremely frustrating experience and is one I would strongly recommend avoiding. The company makes it unnecessarily difficult for customers to manage or cancel their policies, repeatedly stating that cancellation is not allowed while failing to clearly explain policy terms upfront. Critical details about coverage, enrollment conditions, and cancellation timelines are not communicated transparently, leaving customers confused and feeling misled.
VSP also auto-enrolls customers without clear, informed consent, which creates significant stress and distrust. Compounding this issue, the online login system frequently does not work, preventing customers from accessing their accounts, reviewing policy details, or resolving issues independently.
Overall, the lack of transparency, forced policy retention, auto-enrollment practices, and unreliable online systems result in a highly stressful customer experience. Insurance should offer clarity and peace of mind, but it does the opposite. Avoid this insurance if you value your money, transparency, and customer respect.

Avoid VSP

I agree with everyone else, VSP insurance is awful, and the fact that AARP recommends it has me thinking that I can't trust AARP. I had VSP insurance for a year, but I haven't used it, and I found it almost impossible to cancel. I ended up on the phone for 3 hours and had to contact AARP in order to get a number that worked. I tried three different numbers, all in the VSP materials, but every number hung up on me. I am sure the difficulty in canceling is intentional. They get you on autopay, and then you can't cancel the insurance. As far as I am concerned that's fraud. Save your money, and look elsewhere.

Telephone service non existent

Telephone service non existent. Online is terrible. Calling and going through hoops and never getting a human and "due to high call volume we cannot take your call" or some such BS. I am going to call my state's insurance commission. They should be fined.

I could barely understand a word the rep was saying

I could barely understand a word the customer service rep said, his accent was so thick! How is this service? I wanted to cancel my policy because I found I didn't need it. I got new glasses at an out-of-network store for less than my VSP benefits paid. But it was extremely difficult trying to communicate on the phone with someone I couldn't understand.

HARD AF TO CANCEL! STAY AWAY

Do not sign up for VSP. They make it incredibly difficult and such a pain in the ass to cancel it it's not even worth it. Every VSP customer service rep speaks broken English (we're in America... come on people) and they always give you some kind of ass-backwards run around. Stay far away before you get roped into a contract for a year.
