I listed my riding mower and got LOTS of exposure. But Facebook's messaging system is crap PURE CRAP. I did not get notified when I got a message about my mower. I could not figure out what messages I had answered and which ones I had not. For such a people company, they have the worse messaging system. It could be fixed easily. Another problem, but not about selling my mower, is their side ads. I have clicked on several to find out about the product. But this is the 2nd time I have become infected with some internet virus. Thank God I had some protection installed on my laptop. The other time was about 2 years ago. Facebook or Meta need to get their act together or loose their business!

I noticed a scam advertisement on Marketplace relating to a couple who owned a jewellery shop and were retiring (AI generated picture included). Because I had been scammed before by a similar advertisement (along with a lot of other people) I reported it to Marketplace as a scam. I received a reply this morning saying that the ad. was deemed acceptable and not being removed. This is an absolute scandal. I know for a fact that it is a scam.

What kind of ridiculous rating system lets people rate other people that they’ve never even done business with? I have a low rating because I offered fair prices for phones that people thought were way more valuable than they actually were. Never even met with these people in real life.

Wasted so much time looking for a chest of drawers. All listing were "free". Then when you see the description, it would say "message me dor real price". Absolutely full of fake profiles. Never used marketplace, thought id give it a shot... not doing that again 😅

Facebook marketplace is full of absolute ixxxt sellers if you want to waste your life away 100 per cent do it here.

I never have any problems purchasing things off marketplace. I have gotten many good deals on here

Do not trust simon blake.... was sellining an astra 2006 twintop , i contacted him but he was at work so said talk to him about 6 when finished work, had to go to hospital personal probs , when i finally goes on the site he messaged me asking if i still wanted it, but at the top of page it said soldi said i see you already sold it . He comes back to me says he is stripping it to race it why are there so many people like him on that site that just mug people off. The site should be closed down.

Facebook Marketplace has THOUSANDS of scam adverts and fake profiles. Meta/Facebook consistently refuse to remove these obvious scam adverts and seem to rely on people using common sense. Unfortunately due to the incredibly high number and range of these adverts people are going to lose money. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN ATTEMPTING PURCHASES ON FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE. ITS A RISKY PLACE TO CONDUCT PURCHASES.

I had yet another total scam yesterday off Facebook marketplace. It’s claimed that that OVER 70% of ALL internet scams are also advertised on this platform. It also seems that reporting them is a waste of time, weeks later they are still up, fleecing the public (with facebook help) supplying inferior or fake copy goods, pretending to be in uk instead of China, ignoring complaints, no phone number etc.etc. If you DO want anything you see on there, try eBay or Amazon and see if its also on there, that way you might even get what you pay for without the hassle or scams...

Facebook market sucks to many scammers and wired adds and you got to watch what u post for sale or they shut you down over stupid stuff

I sold a pair of boots and shipped them (not a local pickup) in Sept 2025 and was never paid for the sale. Facebook markeplace has no way to get help; no chat, , no phone number , no email ...and they absolutely REFUSE to email you back, you open a case - they close it and tell you they can't help you - I have tried and tried to get help and can't. There are so many of us out there that don't get paid by FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE for sales you ship. They keep the funds and won't help you locate the money. I have no way to get help for this ..it is the most frustrating experience.

Awful experience as a seller people don’t turn up, keep rescheduling it’s just a game for some. They have nothing else to do just play silly sad games! Never again. Poor platform.

Facebook Marketplace and the ADs should be shutdown completely. It's now officially a scam setup. I would say 90% is officially scam while 10% is genuine. It's concerning considering the high level that's in place. I'm surprised they haven't been fined millions for not doing enough to stop it as Facebook seriously profit on criminal activity

There's a lot of scams and fraud going on, especially in regards to apartment listings.

Even though I notify facebook it takes him a very long time to take them down.

Please remember on any facebook marketplace listing, see the product first, or see the apartment first, try to find out if the person showing you the apartment is the owner, as nd not just some contractor.

But seeing the unit first is half the battle.

Many people listing these scams are from nigeria or india.

So they don't have the ability to show you the apartments.
They just want a sixty dollar application fee.
Don't apply, don't do anything without seeing the unit.

NOW Facebook marketplace cost me the first time 8500 eurs and now this time approx. 4500 eurs
I can only state it has become a totally insane system, they block to be able to buy and sell. all of a sudden. when I'm trying to sell my car. so I lose a sale. and my can't contact the person who is interned in buying my car, and even if I complain and ask Meta to check their decision. they don't change their decision. they have a sick feeling that I'm a cheater. but Meta I've tried to write to but it's not easy.
I never ask anyone to pay in advance, people only have to pay cash when they come for an item.
And when I report a fraudster, who uses a fake ID, a Russian man with a Swedish woman's name, and is making financial fraud, when I was supposed to buy wood pellets, and I never got them, I have a police report that I can prove to the Facebook marketplace, Meta does not delete them, they let them continue.
Do not use the Facebook marketplace anymore, stay away.

Hi it can't be right that you are closing my access to the market place, I am not violating any rules. I am trying to sell some of my things, and maybe I was about to sell one of the cars that I don't spend time on anymore.
But you are blocking me from being able to sell anything. Facebook has got an insane system, I would like to know what I should have done wrong, since you have locked me out, I am referring to a person who was looking for a car Opel Omega, I have 2 of them. I will sell both if the buyer is interested in just 1 of them.
But I have not violated any common rules.
And today, December 6th, I still have not heard anything from META
Both Facebook and META are totally happy with you customers. So F::: META because they are violating the laws. They are criminalizing all people without evidence. And when we report profiles that are fake and it is reported to the police, they do not delete these people, but let them continue with their criminal actions.
Among other things, a person who sold wood pellets, who had several cases on him.
Another with a photo of a Russian young man, with a Swedish woman's name, and a phone number of another Swedish woman, and it was not the same address. they let them continue, META did not think there was anything criminal behind the 2 profiles.
