Shady company that scrapes emails from…

Shady company that scrapes emails from god-knows-where and spams you. I unsubscribed from their list almost a year ago (I never signed up in the first place). Today, they sent me more spam.

Many of their 5-star reviews here look fake as well. Not surprising, coming from a company that sells other people's work.

HE CANCELLED MY LIFETIME ACCOUNT - BEWARE!

I signed up for their lifetime plan - $179

I was told by the owner i could have an affiliate fee if i sent my customers to him. Before i did that i got my customers to sign up to a free account so they could see how it worked. Because i did it this way he cancelled my LIFETIME account with no explanation. What was wrong with a discussion? If he didnt like me doing it that way i would have stopped. No way did i want to pay him $179 and then get my account closed.

For that reason he gets a 1 star and a stay away recommend from me.

As for the affiliate situation, we’re all for discussions. In fact, we’re excellent listeners when it comes to constructive criticism, puppy videos, and the latest gossip. However, the chargeback issue put us in a bit of a pickle, and we had to take action.

Great service. Honourable refund policy. Responsive support. Reasonably up-to-date library. So far clean.

Great service with an extensive library, automatic install/update via the wordpress dashboard. Responsive to requests for plugin updates. Excellent customer service and honourable refund policy. So far all tested items are clean. Due to a technical error between the website and my bank, I had duplicate transactions for a lifetime deal. However Martin responded to my email quickly to investigate and refund any duplicate charge, no questions asked.

This service is invaluable for testing a range of plugins/themes, before deciding which to purchase. Having to purchase to test is not viable.

Ultimately, Wordpress operates a GPL model where developers should understand that the plugins/themes they develop should be freely available. Gatekeeping access to the plugin is at least equally morally dubious to gpl clubs. Businesses who reach a scale to afford purchasing licenses through the developer, do so for convenience of updates and added value of support not the plugin itself. I hope to see more developers offer more afforable licenses for startups / small business - as even with access to services like Festinger I have supported developers of plugins / themes that I decide to use on a long term basic when they have reasonable pricing models <$100. Asking $300+ pa realistically means only large established businesses can afford to subscribe for the convenience.
