Nice bike, some minor issues

The bike looks really nice and it is also pleasant to ride. The assembly was a bit more difficult than expected, I also didn't get the right manual via email. It would be nicer if you could adjust the saddle without any tools and my bell doesn't make a nice ringing sound, only a scratching sound.

Missing parts and it comes disassembled

I received the bike quickly which was very nice. But it didn't come assembled, and there were no instructions to put it together. I also did not receive enough screws to be able to put everything together, and some of the parts were not lining up when we finally figured out how to screw them together by using Youtube.

Absolutely disappointing experience

Absolutely disappointing experience. They advertise that you can return the product upto 100 days but when you really want to return it, they make it super difficult! There is no way to send the courier (unless you pay 50 euro courier charge). what a waste of time and money my purchase was. Never recommending this one.

Misleading product description and refusal to respect EU consumer rights

I ordered a bicycle advertised which looked like orange in the photos. What I received was clearly pink. The difference is obvious and documented with photos.

Despite this, customer support insisted the color was the same and refused to take responsibility. The tone was always rude and passive-agressive. I was told to pay €50 for pickup, even though the mistake is in their product description.

Under EU consumer law (Directive 2019/771 on conformity of goods), when a product does not match its description, it is considered non-conforming and the seller must cover all return costs. I explained this, but they still refused to cooperate or escalate the case.

Instead, I was told to “take further steps” if I disagreed.

This is not how customers should be treated, especially when the seller is clearly at fault. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others before ordering from this company.

Bike arrived defective and I was treated poorly from customer service

Please read until the end: Bike arrived defective and it was a present for my son. The front wheel was broken. Could not go to Rotterdam from Amsterdam to repair it, so I pay a shop to do it. Spent 20 euros. They told me that they could give me only 10 euro refund. Ok, hoping that this will be the last time.

After one month, a pedal comes out and also this time I can not go to Rotterdam to repair it, the warranty clearly says that you can only repair the bikes in Rotterdam, so if you live in Amsterdam and need repairs, you are basically free to go to hell.

The pedal can not be screwed back but I needed to change the whole piece (pedal + pedal support) due the whole piece was born defective. After spending 30 euros to repair at the usual shop, I asked the company to arrive to a conclusion and to give me some refund at least, cos they have sent me a wreck and pretend I pay the full price. I copy and paste the answer:

Do not go to this company to buy a bike. They sell very cheap bikes and pretend they are discounted but they are not, they are just cheap and (in case like mine) defective bikes, and they treat people in a very rude manner.

Ps: dear customer agent, if you don’t like your job, change it! :)

Rude customer service

Really bad and rude customer service! The bike prices are cheap, I agree with that, but the added cost is the rude customer support.

Verschrikkelijke en onbeleefde klantenservice! De fietsen zijn goedkoop, dat klopt, maar wat je er extra voor betaalt is de nare behandeling van de klantenservice.

Terrible customer service

Ordered a Cortego bicycle through them. The bicycle did not come with all the correct parts, we had to buy extra parts. The bicycle completely rusted within the first 3 months, the derailleur broke whilst cycling in first 4 months. Cortego said I must ask Fietsenplaats to fix it through warranty. Fietsenplaats customer service has been shocking and said I have to buy the part. I would not give Cortego or Fietsenplaats one star, I don’t recommend them to anyone. You’ll be wasting your money.

Sub par after sales support

It is hard to follow instructions for someone who is expat and not familiar with bikes. The customer service is not helpful and very hard to get hold of them . Please get bikes from bigger companies with better and faster after sales support. Would never recommend bikes from here

Teleurstellende ervaring – verkeerde maat en lange afhandeling / Very disappointing experience – wrong product and slow resolution

I ordered a Cortego Transporter bicycle in size M, but the shop delivered a size L. The box was only marked “Cortego 2857” with no indication of the frame size – there was no way for me to know that it was the wrong size before assembling it.

Only after fully assembling the bike (as required by the online purchase) and trying it out did we discover the wrong size.

Since then, I have been in contact with Fietsenplaats for more than three weeks, trying to arrange a solution. Unfortunately, instead of offering proactive support, I was asked to disassemble and repackage the bike myself – despite this being their mistake.

Communication was slow, every step required follow-up from my side, and even the first arranged pickup was missed, despite someone being at home all day.

After more than three weeks, the bike was finally collected, and I am now waiting for the refund, which they confirmed will be processed within the legal period.

This process caused a lot of frustration and wasted time, and my daughter was unable to use the bike we planned for her school commute. I hope they improve their customer service process, especially when the mistake is clearly on their side – arranging a pickup and replacement should be quick and hassle-free.

Ik bestelde een Cortego Transporter damesfiets in maat M, maar er werd maat L geleverd. Op de doos stond alleen de aanduiding “Cortego 2857” — zonder enige maatvermelding — dus ik kon niet weten dat het de verkeerde maat was vóór montage.

Pas na volledig monteren ontdekte ik dat de fiets te groot was. Daarna heb ik meer dan drie weken geprobeerd om een oplossing te krijgen via Fietsenplaats. In plaats van proactief mee te werken, werd ik gevraagd om zelf de fiets te demonteren en opnieuw te verpakken — terwijl dit hun fout was.

De communicatie verliep traag, elke stap vereiste herhaaldelijke opvolging, en bij een voorgenomen ophaalafspraak is niemand langsgekomen, ondanks dat iemand de hele dag thuis was.

Pas ná meer dan drie weken werd de fiets opgehaald, en ik wacht nu op de terugbetaling die mij is toegezegd binnen de wettelijke termijn.

Deze situatie heeft behoorlijk wat frustratie opgeleverd, tijd gekost en mijn dochter kon de fiets niet gebruiken zoals gepland voor haar schoolvervoer. Ik hoop dat Fietsenplaats hun klantendienst verbetert, zodat fouten zoals deze snel en zonder extra lasten voor de klant worden afgehandeld.

Defective bicycle deceptive company

I bought a bmx bicycle,the ollowing day after set up i realised the front wheel was twisted. I contacted the company they wanted me to pay to have the wheel return or drop it off. The nearest drop off location is 2 and half hours from my delivery address. And to send it cost more than buying a new wheel. While i was going back and forth with the company the back wheel also got twisted. The bicycle was never used just fitted up and test ride. The company is very deceptive they also delete bad reviews from their website. After several email they decided to only pay for 1 wheel. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY
