I am literally crying while writing…

I am literally crying while writing this. I have booked tickets, and in less than 24 h I wanted to cancel and rebook with a day earlier. I called to double-check that I can get my money back and I was confirmed that everything is fine. They cancelled my tickets, but I received only half of the money back. There´s no one who can help me out with this.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE - DO NOT FLY WITH TAP.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.
DO NOT FLY WITH THEM - I'D RATHER FLY WITH RYAN AIR AND THATS A STATEMENT!

We boarded the flight, set off to LHR from Lisbon, and after being stuck on the runway for 2 hours , being told there was a delay for the take off window, then we were told there was a problem at LHR, then we were told we had the all clear to fly, and finally we were told we couldn't FLY and had to return to Lisbon airport. Tehre was no guidance on the plane telling us what to do, where to go and how we will be supported, we just had to wait!

We arrived back in the airport at 9pm, and waited for updates from TAP for hours, it wasn’t until 22:30 we received information/support.

We then managed to book onto another flight which wasn’t until the next morning at 7:05am to London Gatwick. That meant we didn’t arrive Into London until 9:40am THE NEXT DAY- and I had to go to work, meaning I couldn’t make it to work that day, as to travel back from Gatwick took hours.

This meant our flight was 12 hours delayed, but first cancelled and in terms of timings I spent 15 hours travelling and waiting to get back from Portugal.

The TAP team in the airport, promised i would be compensated the hotel and taxi (at the least), so i followed the process to get this refunded, and how TAP will NOT refund this, they have gone back on their word. This is not acceptable, I was promised compensation for the hotel and taxis due to the cancellation and now they IGNORE their original guidelines.

THEY ARE SO UNRELIABLE, AND I AM NOW OUT OF POCKET BY €200 DUE A CANCELLATION NOT CAUSED BY ME.

Refund Scam

I cancelled my premium economy flight which was fully refundable almost 11 months ago and have applied for a refund, however after numerous long phone conversations with the airline I still have not received my refund and no one ever gets back to me every time that I call. I can clearly see that they are passing me around and delaying me forever until I give up and none of the phone handlers ever give me any date as to which any refund will take place. This is a complete scam and everyone who is looking for a refund I can confidently warn you that you will be waiting for a long long time, if not forever.
My flight details are:

Flight date: 11/07/2022

Terrible service do not use TAP

My flight was late 38 min or more. Throughout of tghe waiting which took place on the gate, bus and inside the plane, there was no announcement or explanation to the passengers as to what was going on. Me and another passenger asked the stewardess what was happening and her attitude was poor and no apologies whatsoever. Another passenger who often travels with TAP on this route (Lisbon to Madrid) and Tap is always late. Do not use this company. They act like that because people put up with this lack of consideration and respect to their clients.

They denied us boarding on a Lisbon-Maputo flight Bucket List African Safari (despite all correct documents) then when we rang Customer Services for refund they said we were No Shows - despite having checked in luggage 2 hours earlier and having witnesses. Buyer beware!

Don’t be tempted by low price. It’s low for a reason….They are rubbish.

Booked 18 flights for humanitarian project to Africa.

3 day delay, 5 delayed cases. One lost permanently.

Customer service response six months later? NOTHING. There are the worst company I have ever dealt with.

TAP - no support after cancellation

Flight was booked with TAP, but the airline was SATA. Unfornately the flight was cancelled 3 hours before departure and I only got a short message on my phone. Nothing more like informations about alternatives and support. Also it was not possible to reach someone on the hotline. For luck the staff members of SATA Airlines booked me tickets for an alternative route and gave me vouchers for a stay in the hotel. Thanks SATA!

Delayed bags and they are just not…

Delayed bags and they are just not paying for incurred expenses. Many emails and phone calls. Finally someone at TAP agreed to pay and deposit funds, but 6 weeks later nothing and no email responses. Just filed 2nd FAA complaint and will keep going.

Will never issue a refund

Cancelled the flight and never refunded. Closed my ticket without paying, had to ask 3 times to reopen it. Now they say I should go via travel agency, but they can't start the process because they won't let them. Now they tell me they don't refund cancelled flights. I will have to involve my lawyer this is absolutely impossible to deal with. It's been going on for 2+ months.

Everything went wrong. Queues. Slow motion

Everything went wrong on all flights. We had transfer, Oslo-Lisboa-Faro and back. Hard to make this a short story. The gist of it: They are always delayed and do not give good information. They treat people like cattle. Avoid that airline if you can.
One example: We had to stand at gate and wait for more than one hour on our feet to wait for a delayed plane being emptied and cleaned. My legs hurt so bad I could hardly stand. Better to let people sit and relax before they say "go to gate". We did not have water, we were starving.
Both ways they did not manage to be on time and we got hotel. First time we got a voucher but had to wait very long just in the middle of a hall somewhere, with nowhere to sit. Second time we were told to fix everything by ourselves. Let' s just hope we get reimbursed. Luckily for us, we didn't have work or appointments to reach, as we are retired. Portugal discovered the world at one stage, now flying in Europe feels like a strenuous voyage to the Americas. We were so exhausted after this.
They are so slow in everything they do. I am sure a third world airline is much better.
This was an honest review and I am holding back and being very polite here.

Pretty good; or "not as bad as feared"

The proper star rating would be 2.5? But that wasn't a choice. On a whim, we booked a last minute birthday Valentine's Washington DC-Lisbon-DC for a few days on an Expedia package, which included two Economy TAP RT tickets. 2/11-15. On the (awful) TAP website I upgraded our seats for extra legroom, and paid $95 each way for one large checked bag. Then I went to TrustPilot, saw the reviews, almost cancelled in the 24 hour window. I didn't, but really started worrying. I expected a dirty crowded old aircraft, surly service, hassles and delays, creepy restrooms, massive overcharges for luggage, and hours waiting for them to offload cargo. Instead, we boarded a nice plane with big screens with decent movies, legroom, kind and efficient flight attendants, small but clean lavatories, blankets/pillows/headphones and both flights were completely on time with speedy bag service in Lisbon. The food going to Portugal was decent, I guess and drinks okay but served in Dixie cups. (If you ask for ice, you will get a cube, maybe?). The 8 hour return flight? Meal/drink service in the first hour, and a small yucky sandwich/bev service 6 hours later. It's a good idea to bring a bottle of water and food/snacks. For most of the flight, the cabin will be too warm. We had direct flights so I don't know about connections; or the refund problems others experienced. Now, the tricky part. It's true about luggage. This is where TAP Portugal hoses many people, especially families and first-timers. There is a ridiculously low weight and size limit, with no slack whatsoever. Fortunately, there was a work-around for us, anyway. What we failed to notice was that few people checked in at the counter at IAD-- like we did. There, they strictly enforce the 22lb max bag/4 lb personal item thing. Almost every roller bag will deemed "too big" for the overhead bin, or too heavy if even 22.5. We tried to reshuffle, then gave up and paid $105 for an extra checked bag. But upon boarding, we noticed many experienced TAP passengers skipped the counter, had pretty normal weight roller bags, strollers, etc and checked them at the gate for free, and boarded with totes, boxes, backpacks, etc in the (regular sized) overhead bins. Duh. On the return, we got the one luggage tag and boarding docs from the machine for the pre-paid bag, and checked our roller bags at the gate at no charge, like others did. Our personal item? Certainly not 4 lbs each. A small backpack and a shoulder bag with tablets, books, my purse, phones, meds, makeup... typical stuff. TAP is such a hassle before the actual flight, which is actually fine. Plan to spend WAY too much time on the dirt-dumb confusing website... where I'm told you can order a special meal. It won't be great either, but you'll probably get more protein or at least something identifiable. If the price were right, I'd definitely fly TAP again, at least to Portugal. If not, fly a competitor legacy airline. (My sister-in-law flies to Africa and is not a fan of those TAP routes). Be sure to compare fares with the extra luggage and seat charges in mind. Pre-paying luggage is much cheaper during the booking process. Finally, we booked through Expedia, not directly with TAP, so the refund situation might be more positive with that strategy.

Fraudster airline

Fraudster airline I have come across, dodgy, they loot your money and mistreat you. I cancelled my first booked flight within 24 hrs of booking after reading through their policy which says, they will pay back most of the money back except for a minimal fee (of around EUR30), but they held back EUR600 for the ticket, which I am trying to get answers for and I still don't know what the status is.
Once I reached to destination country, my baggage was lost and was not delivered for 2 days. Then when I was returning, the air Portugal check in security in Senegal did not let me board the flight for 2 days. I asked for a reasoning for delaying my boarding, they said they were not sure if the valid legal resident permit document I carried was enough for me to travel back via Portugal- which they let me travel during my onboard journey and is a document I and other legal residents like me carry every where around the world. They did not let me travel back via Air Portugal, so had to be booked via another airlines. When I came back and raised an issue, there is no reply, no commitment to what steps they are going to take etc.,. WOULD NOT ADVISE TRAVELLING WITH THEM. One good thing in the journey was they safely landed in the destination country. An expensive, unreliable, poorly managed airlines.

Non response to legitimate claim

By mistake TAP cancelled my whole return ticket on a flight from Copenhagen til Lisbon which caused me a delay of one day and expenses for taxi etc. I was issued a new ticket and given an apology - but no compensation for expenses or delay. A formal complaint through the TAP system has not resulted in any response whatsover. I' am still - 3 months after it happened - waiting for a response.

Avoid Air Portugal - TAP - No refund received

Our flight into Lisbon was delayed. We missed our connection and had to stay the night. TAP promised refund withinh 15 days. We were stranded 29th of October 2022 and filed complaint immdiately upon return to Oslo on November 6th. Still not a word. TAP Web says complaint is still being considered. Today is January 30th, 2023. We will never ever fly TAP again and advice you not to do so either.

6 months waiting for an answer and counting

Flight service is actually quite good once you are in it.

We got 7 hours delay, raised a complaint and it has been 6 months without any answer. Called the costumer service which informed me that there is no other way to contact the complaints department apart from raising another complaint.

I'm portuguese and this just makes me sad. TAP used to be a big name with reputable service, now it can't even compete with Ryanair.

I felt sorry for the people from customer service as the TAP procedures they have to follow are rubbish and bluntly make it harder for the costumer to get their complaints resolved.

Scammed 125 Euros for force checking carry on

This airlines is absolutely ridiculous. They charged me 125 euros at the boarding area to check in my bag for being a 3-4 kg over the 12kg limit. I specifically asked at checkin if I need to check my bag in and the attendant said no, so I didn’t. It would’ve been 35 euros cheaper. This is a suck a frickin scam. I told the employee Diago that charged me about this and he was impatient, not understanding and wouldn’t even budge. Absolutely the worst boarding experience I’ve ever had.
