Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 136 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the service, finding it to be lacking and not living up to expectations. The staff and customer service were frequently criticized for being cold, unhelpful, and difficult to reach, with some reporting long hold times and unaddressed issues. Reviewers also faced problems with the booking process, including issues with third-party bookings, name corrections, and last-minute flight changes without adequate support or compensation. The pricing was another point of contention, with customers feeling that the cost did not align with the quality of service received, and some experiencing unexpected additional charges. However, some customers also noted positive interactions, particularly praising specific staff members for their pleasant, courteous, and efficient service, which made their travel experience more enjoyable. These positive experiences often highlighted exceptional customer care and assistance, especially during check-in and boarding, and some appreciated the spacious seating and on-time departures.

Porter Air is the worst

Porter Air is the worst! My wife needed wheelchair service for her round trip flight from Edmonton to Hamilton. By chance, I had suggested that I go into the Edmonton Airport so she could ride her cart in rather than me just dropping her off. Good thing I did. They had nobody to push her to the gate, and made me do it! Meanwhile, I am parked in handicapped parking (thankfully no ticket). The coming back, they shelled her off the plane, made her get out of the chair and sit while they wheeled two other passengers to the baggage claim. They of course forgot her. The gate agent refused to help her. In the time she was waiting, to elderly women arrived at the gate, one pushing the other in the wheel chair (exhausted) with the same story. Finally a wheelchair person was happening by and my wife stopped her. The person pushed her to baggage claim. Baggage claim for that flight had ended and I had picked up her bag. Because her flight was delayed, and because it took her another hour to be wheeled to baggage, we incurred $52 in parking fees. Call porter Airlines to make a complaint and they say send an email;, and we'll get to it. DO NOT fly this airline!!!!!

Poor communication & cost

Recently our family faced a tragedy - our son died suddenly and I needed to get our grandson home from Toronto to Ottawa. Called from the hospital ER. The agent had me repeating the information a lot and left me on hold several times taking nearly 30 min. to book the first AM flight from the Island. I explained it was an emergency to get my grandson back. The cost one way from Toronto to Ottawa was $825 - no compassionate fares. I was surprised as most airlines off this. During this extremely difficult time for our family the communication was poor and the cost prohibitive.

Re-booked on another flight with no notice and no reason

I had booked a flight from Victoria to Toronto with 12h54 departure. I tried to check-in online the day before only to discover that my wife and I were re-booked on another flight departing at 22h05. We were never notified about the change. The reason I was given by their customer service rep is that the flight had been re-scheduled but no explanation as to why I was not notified. When I got to the airport for the 22h05 flight I was told by the check-in agent that the 12h45 flight left on time that afternoon and was not fully booked. I felt totally disrespected. Porter will no longer get any of my money.

Porter? NEVER again!!

Everything was wrong from the beginning! At the departure counter, incompetent and ridiculously slow workers, don't bother checking-in early as it took more than 1h (same as check-in lineup) to have our luggage done. Plane got delayed not once but 3 times, changing the gate every time. 5h30 delay in the middle of the night is unacceptable and NONE of the agents cared, no help, no consideration, no accommodation... my kiddos trying to sleep on a dirty airport floor is NOT okay. NOT the service I paid for. We lost a full day of vacation because of poor management and lack of humanity. Pay a few extra dollars for another airline, Porter doesn't worth a penny.

Delayed baggage!

My luggage was delayed on a flight from Toronto to Montreal on the 7th of July. It has now been less than a week, and I have not received my delayed baggage. I had to buy new clothes as I am on vacation. Tried to call customer Service, waited for almost 2 hours, only to be disconnected. How can baggage take this long to be delivered?

Terrible Airline, Never Fly Porter!!

Delays for both flights between YYZ and Victoria, BC., Flight cancellation on the return with re-booking flight 12 hours later. Another 2+ hour delay on the return. No explainations, poor planning. Rude flight attendants.

Flight delay little to no help from Porter

Flight delay. no notification or explanation waited at the airport for 14 hours to find out our flight was cancelled! We were re booked two days later. I had to call them for alternate arrangements or miss work, no offer on their part. No communication from airline. No compensation for day stuck at the airport and extra expenses. The stress of this debacle triggered an MS reaction to my wife, causing missed work and sickness. They offered a $250voucher for Porter. As if I would ever fly their airline again

Do NOT fly Porter

My flight was scheduled to depart Calgary at 8am June 1st. It was delayed to 11:45am, then 1:30pm, then 2:50pm then 3pm. That is a 7 hour delay and the only reason provided was “due to previous flight being late”. While I can see this for the first delay it does not make sense that this “reason” is applicable for the 7 hour delay. As a result I had to book a last minute ticket on another airline at a considerably higher price in order to ensure I was able to attend my corporate meeting event.

I'm still at a loss as to how a flight that was scheduled to leave at 8:00 AM ended up leaving around 4:30pm, 8 ½ hours late, due to “The previous flight was affected by adverse weather, causing it to be diverted to a different city”. What weather? And you only had one plane available to cover the flight, and it took 8 ½ hours for it to be sent to Calgary?

I booked with Porter because I had heard good things about the airline and services. Unfortunately, that was NOT my experience at all. In fact, I cannot see using Porter again which is a shame as I believe in supporting Canadian businesses.

I would have expected better customer service and compensation from Porter given the ‘vague’ reason for the extremely long delay, especially when no other flights were delayed for such a lengthy timeframe for the same ‘reason’.

Air Canada is Better

Extremely uncomfortable seats, staff are tattooed or grossly overweight and not always pleasant, ridiculous repetitive announcements, and delays.

Worst Airline

As you can see by the very low rating Porter Airlines already has on this site, it’s safe to say you should avoid this airline by all costs. They cancel a flight after you get to the airport, the crew are condescending and unhelpful. Worst airline ever. I’ll never take us POS Airline again.

I’m not sure what happened to other travellers but this airline has been fantastic! Of all the different airlines this has been the most relaxed and competent group to travel with. From the nice touch of the pilot making an address in person and not just over the speakers, to the passengers to the wonderful and super pleasant staff. Thank you Porter. See you again.

Changes your flights without notice

I am extremely disappointed with Porter Airlines. I had originally booked a direct flight from Toronto to San Diego with a reasonable travel time of 5 hours. Without any prior consultation, Porter changed my itinerary to include a stop in Las Vegas, extending my travel time to a frustrating 8 hours and forcing me onto an inconveniently early flight.

When I contacted customer service to address this issue, I was met with indifference. They simply stated that this was all they had available and refused to offer any form of compensation. Because of this last-minute change, all direct flights with other airlines have now doubled in price, leaving me with no affordable alternatives.

This experience has been incredibly disappointing, and I expected much better service and accountability. I will strongly reconsider flying with Porter in the future.

Don't fly Porter

PORTER AIRLINES Captain called in sick and alternate did not show up. Air Canada had a flight going but Porter refused to put me on it, so I missed meeting and purpose of trip. TERRIBLE service and will fly Air Canada next time unless Porter makes amends. Will inform network.

Checkin was quick using priority…

Checkin was quick using priority boarding. Checked one bag, 15 kilos (had 23 kilo allowance per bag) second bag was 4 kilos over allowance, the ridiculous attendant refused to concede there was a combined weight of 43 kilos, well within the46 kilo allowance. Rude millennial insisted we pay $101 US for 4 kilos even though we had top priority and were within baggage allowance. It was all on her screen the weight of each bag, but she would not budge. Never again. Do not trust this airline.

Unethical advertising

Unethical advertising. Porter's advertising emails are unethical and misleading. For several days, Porter sent emails to invite friends to travel north from NYC because they are now flying from LGA to Toronto. The promotion code never included EWR. Then the email changed to include flights from EWR to YTZ. However, the promotion code gives the same price for the route as without the promotion code. Of course, it says up to 20% but unethical for Porter to introduce something about the EWR flight, when clearly it is not in the promotion. Also an issue, when you can only call Porter to lodge a complaint, if there is no flight confirmation - there is no email form to submit complaint, but you only realize after wasting time to complete the form

Worst company to possible book through…

Worst company to possible book through , My daughter and 9month old grandson booked with Budget Air using Porter Airlines which had 3 connecting flights from Halifax to Toronto the Toronto to Ottawa then Ottawa to Calgary , They had no issues with the first flight Halifax to Toronto but then in Toronto were told that my grandson name was not on the ticket . Tried contacting Budget Air and Porter Air and they both said too bad nothing we can do to help them basically telling her sorry your stranded in Toronto or pay $1000 for a new ticket .After dealing with them I the grandma was able to contact a lady from PCM Travel (thetravelmakers.us) who had nothing to do with it and she went above and beyond to help get it fixed but still cost $750 to do so . I would never ever recommend or use Budget Air Or Porter Airlines again they are a joke of a company that would tell a mom and 9month old to bad your stranded now .
