The whole Rakuten experience was perfect. Being able to choose the condition and colour of the refurbished phone whilst sticking to our budget. The phone arrived very well packaged and was perfect as described, it arrived quickly in the time line stated by courier. So far we have found no problems with the phone and it is working perfectly. I signed up for Rakuten after seeing promos that looked great. They specifically advertised a bonus for new sign-ups and referrals after making a $30+ purchase. I referred my mom, and we both followed the rules: each of us spent about $50, buying gift cards that were clearly shown as valid under the promo language at the time, best we could tell.

Then came the switch: Rakuten quietly marked both of our sign-up and referral bonuses as ineligible. No warning, no clear explanation — just a quiet denial after we’d already spent real money based on their promo.

At that point, it was obvious we’d been tricked. We deleted our accounts and won’t be back.

If you value transparency, avoid Rakuten. They’ll dangle attractive promos to get you in, then bury you in fine print and quietly declare your purchases don’t qualify. There are plenty of other cash-back platforms (TopCashback or even Fetch for receipts) that at least play fair. Rakuten has lost our trust for good.

Extremely dishonest and deceptive marketing by Rakuten! I was referred by a Rakuten User to get an Account with Rakuten and receive a $50.00 discount from a Visible Mobile Store! Once I signed up, all I was promised is $ 20.00 discount! After I submitted the screenshots showing the discrepancies via email to Rakuten, all I got was a big run around instead of a coherent and professional response! Rakuten is involved in dishonest and deceptive business practices!
P.s. Reply from Rakuten on my Review states that they sent some kind of form to confirm my email address??? I never got any forms ! Again, it clearly shows a complete and utter lack of any coherent and professional customer service from Rakuten! Stay away from them! Total Scam!!

Customer service is GARBAGE, was sold a very used CD graded like new by a seller on Rakuten France. Opened a dispute on Paypal because their customer service refused to help after giving the a seller a bad review due to them ignoring my complaints, these guys now want me to return the item for a refund which costs most than the CD, AVOID.
