First it was great, but then...

First I thought: wow free domain names, nice! But after using it for a year I found out that it was bad.

First of all: The website is awfully slow. It sometimes takes up to 10 minutes to load their homepage.

Second thing: I can't even manage my domain names. As soon as I try to log in, it just keeps on loading for 10 minutes and then gives me the message that the site doesn't work.

Third thing: I can't even use nameservers, which means that the whole thing basically is useless.

If you want to give people domain names/sell them, at least make sure you have a website that works. 1 star!!!

No available free domain names.

No free domain names actually available. Just a lie to get you to their list of costly ones. Typed in strings of random letters up to 50 long, still not available.
Can't say I'm surprised.

2 Years No Refunds

On September 30, 2020, I bought a 5-year .ml domain name for 6.87 euro from you. 10 seconds after ordering, your system canceled my order and when I requested support, they completely closed my account. I have been waiting for a refund for 2 years but still no result.

I opened a complaint about you to Turkey's largest complaint registration website (sikayetvar.com) and it was viewed by thousands of people. I don't want money from you anymore, but I will make negative comments about you and your company on all technology sharing sites in Turkey.

They don't renew even paid domains

I have paid with credit card but they just steal my money and don't renew my domain. They don't answer on emails, open tickets and so on. They just locked the domain for transfer, what is illegal, because you have right (according ICANN) to transfer your domain even in AutoRenew period. You have no any control of your domain from their site, when they decide to steal it.

Scam and fake

Scam and fake, everytime you try to get a domain it says technical error or recaptcha failed or just any error, it's just fake.

It does what its supposed to do.

I originally rated this company as being the worst domain providers out there. I still don't think they are anything wonderful, however my main issue with Freenom was with them selling my free domain at checkout. I soon come to realize that them selling my domain was not permanent just a *Deterrence* for other people not to buy my domain out from under me mainly because it had so much activity on it. Still confusing though since I received the domains receipt just not the actual domain. Finally I was able to get my domain back to where I can use it. If you have trouble with your free domain in that regards its probably likely you've been canceling and starting the same domain a lot. I just wish Freenom was a bit more transparent on its issues. Aside from that however you can really tell they need to work on there infrastructure a bit the website looks slightly dated and the DNS management is a bit worse for wear. Other than that it works and if you absolutely hate their DNS management you can just go to Cloudflare and use their tools for the domain which are much better.

It's a scam.

It's a scam.
Don't buy/acquire a domain there. It's not yours, they will demand a ransom to get it back.

There are better choices than freenom.

In fact, I do now believe that every other domain registrar is a better choice.

After being a customer for decades and after several failed renewals i've finally had it with their way of doing business.

Firstly, technically, their DNS infrastructure is down more than up. DO NOT build anything commercial upon a domain hosted by freenom. I only had a few non critical domains with them so no big deal.

secondly, their customer service is ran by a division of 10 year olds. It takes weeks to get a reply, if you try to ping them through their ticket system they will move your ticket to last in queue again without response. I actually have that in writing from their "customer service". When you get a response then it is somehow your fault their their dns, invoicing, cc processor, renewal or whatever is not working.

What broke the camels back was last renewal. There is always problem with renewals. So to mitigate this, I opted to activate automatic renewal with credit card last year. And guess what.. It did not work. They do not send you any notification that something is wrong, they do not send an invoice either. They just disables the domains on expiration day. Which is fine and normal practice for most registrars. But most registrars also puts the domain on hold for a number of weeks to see if customer reaches out to get things sorted and back online.
Freenom has its own idea how this should work. Silence, and then release the domains back as free to register for anyone on the expiration day. Again without notifying current owner.
Customer service response, after the obligatory one week queue time, is the middle finger, register the domains again if they are available. not our problem.

If you dont know the business owner personally and really really want to give him the business, then trust me, there are much better options out there than freenom.

Worst service ever

My domain name expired and I didn't get any notification about it. Even though when I registered it for the first time it was a free domain, now they are charging me for it and the worst thing is, my website is down for days and I didn't know about. This might happen again so I won't be using this service any longer. I'm not recommending any of their products.

Crap support means losing business

For some time I had all my domains hosted with Freenom but unfortunately due to not reacting to any support ticket it is clear that Freenom is absolutely not the company you want, well at least me, to register the domain names. Lack of support means that you do not care about clients and for that I have moved all my domains except for one which I wanted to move before expiration but it took Freenom too long to approve and now the domain is in limbo. For other domain registration masters, do not use Freenom, look for better alternatives that are just as cheap as Freenom.

Warning, stay away from Freenom.

Had some .tk domains here for many years, but suddenly one of them has expired without getting any notification e-mail like I have before. Tried to contact support, got no answer, but all my other domains was set to status "Fraud". Seems more like the whole Freenom service is fraud if you ask me. Don't recommend this service to anyone, at least don't use it to anything important, as you never know when the domain suddenly stop working without any reason.
