I’ve been quite disappointed with Freetrade recently. Money that had been sent to them regarding a transfer has been delayed being applied to my account. This is a considerable amount and has been out of market due to the delays.
Another transfer from WTW has been delayed due to Freetrade sending the request to the wrong area. Which has led to a further delay due to WTW having a 2 week blackout period. This of course isn’t Freetrade issue however, if they had sent it to the right place, this would have possibly been processed prior to this.
It’s a shame as the actual platform is pretty good. It would be nice if they gave a quote before buying funds as you never quite know what price you will pay but overall it has a decent selection of funds and it’s cheap to run.

The Freetrade platform currently supports limit orders only to four decimal places, with prices displayed in GBP (£). This can create difficulties when trading very low-priced AIM market maker stocks. In some situations, this limitation may prevent clients from placing limit orders at their intended price, or even block both instant and market orders entirely if the platform rounds the price down to £0.0000, despite the underlying holding still retaining meaningful value.
Freetrade has acknowledged this limitation, stating: “For stocks trading at extremely low prices like this, that can mean both Instant and Limit orders aren’t accepted if they fall outside those limits.” A straightforward potential fix would be for the platform to display prices in the LSE GBX format, which would likely resolve this issue. However, no such resolution has been implemented.
After transferring into Freetrade in April 2026, this restriction makes the platform unsuitable for my requirements, and I now feel the only practical option is to transfer my holdings back out in order to continue trading effectively.

I’ve been a Freetrade customer for a lot of years now and until recently I’d never needed to contact customer service.
However, now that I do need support, the response times are simply not acceptable for a company handling people’s money and pensions.
Every reply I send is taking around 3 days to get a response, which makes resolving even simple issues drag on for weeks. I recently transferred my pension into a Freetrade SIPP and the communication and updates throughout the process have been shocking.
I managed to transfer one sum successfully, but there has been confusion between Freetrade and my previous provider regarding another pension transfer, and I’m still waiting for updates with very little communication.
I like the platform itself, which is why I chose to move more of my investments and pension over to Freetrade in the first place, but customer support seriously needs improving going forward.
When people are trusting you with their pensions and investments, delays of several days between replies just aren’t good enough.

Easy to open and navigate the site and finding the funds you wish to invest in. Any queries I had were answered quickly

The transfer of my pension pots from other providers went smoothly. The whole process took longer than I expected, but this was due to the existing providers, not Freetrade.

Reflecting other recent reviews, they have been unable to locate part of a transfer from another ISA provider despite the other provider providing evidence this was sent over 6 weeks ago. Support is useless and just provides generic responses. Raising formal complaint has made no difference. Currently they have lost multiple £thousands with no solution.

I am one step away from escalating failure to transfer funds back to my account to the Financial Ombudsman etc. After multiple request they have still provided no reason for why my transfer is delayed, where the money actually is, the legal and/or regulatory basis under which they continue to hold onto my funds etc Despite this is now escalated as a formal complaint they continue to repeatedly explain nothing except respond with delaying tactics.
Edit/Update 20th May 2026. Despite their rapid response to my original review, they continued to be evasive, withhold my transfer and repeatedly refused to explain why. So they are fast to make themselves look responsive and caring on here but very slow and evasive in the real communications going on concurrently in the background between client(me) and themselves.

Freetrade, great app, easy to transfer ISA’s, and pensions. So far recommend.

Jammed - very conveniently when price goes up. Unjammed when price goes down. I have been using Freetrade for a year - the last few months very seriously. It’s always a little bit sticky but today was atrocious. I had to keep restarting the app to get the latest info on my investments. Lost over £100 because of this. I am moving to IBKR.

The system is slow. The transfers are slow. It takes ages for a withdrawal. Customer service takes a day or two. Even the pro version, you don't get the features that they claim they have.

It has been 5 working days since my withdrawal request ,I am trying to get in touch with the costumer service but they say they will get in touch with me in 3 working days ,which time passed but they have not !

Great platform
Free trading (enjoy)
Good choice of investments shares , funds and T bills
Needs to be developing a good web interface and bulk orders (in one click)
Each trade (Or cancellation) takes 15 seconds..defeats the fast trading experience
Buck UP & Improve(nothing has changed over last 3 years) to stay in the race

I haven't used other trading apps so my review is limited; however, I am really happy with Freetrade. I like how easy it is to buy and sell stocks. They won't always have all the stocks you are looking for, especially if it's a new IPO, but other than that, I have no complaints. The user interface is also really easy to understand, and of course, I love the pink branding. It makes trading seem inviting and not all corporate and scary. It's the only trading app I've used, so it must be good as I haven't got fed up with it yet. I just wish their email newsletters were more concise and written in layman's terms. I find them too long to read and not engaging if you don't have the techincal knowledge
