Product arrived with manufacturing defect - not a great after sales experience

Product arrived with a small manufacturing defect, so I wanted an exchange.

Website tells you to email the owner at a hotmail address, which I did. Email tone was blunt and not particularly friendly. When I chased for an update after sending him a photo he claimed he had already refunded me, but also said keep the product. I had paid through Klarna and no refund had been received.

Had to raise a claim through Klarna, which thankfully was all sorted within a couple of hours.

Whilst initial delivery was quick and no problem, just be aware of mine and others' issues in after sales support in case of a problem.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS IF YOU WANT ANY AFTER SALES SERVICE!! As other reviews have highlighted the owner is an absolute nightmare in relation to returns.

I purchased a Silva Headtorch which failed after only a handful of uses over a three month period. There has then been lots of emails exchanged where I had to explain to the owner what his responsibilities were under the Consumer Rights Act and that it was not a 'warranty claim' or outside of the 'normal returns window'.

I asked him to provide a returns label as the cost of the return should be his responsibility. He refused to do this until he had completed his 'thorough testing' which he intended to do. He then promised to refund the return postage.

I recorded a video of the fault prior to despatching the headtorch as I correctly predicted that he would claim that no fault had been found when he received it. He did refund the price of the headtorch but claimed this was a 'goodwill gesture' on his part.

He obviously refused to refund the return postage cost to him as he claimed there was no fault. I am not prepared to continue to argue with him over £3.71.

As others have noted the wording of his returns policy makes very clear his level of disdain for his customers. If I had read that before I think I would have steered well clear.

The prices are good but good luck to you when something goes wrong!

They don't accept any returns

They don't accept any returns, even if unused items (head torch, which I didn't realise at the time of buying had only built in rechargeable battery). My emails are just ignored and unreplied and there is no form whatsoever on their website for return.

Ordered a Silva Expedition Neo compass

Ordered a Silva Expedition Neo compass. I got a great item for a great price. Dispatch was prompt and I was fully updated with order information and tracking. A great service all round and I'll certainly look here first when I next need some outdoor kit.

No issues here, best price around and quick delivery

Ordered a running head torch (Silva ultra) price the cheapest around. Item dispatched within a few hours of ordering.

Assume most bad reviews are around the returns policy so can’t comment but if you know what you need you can’t go wrong here.

Terrible company received an item as a…

Terrible company received an item as a gift from someone and I asked for the wrong item. Their returns policy states you have to email them to ask if you can return. I have emailed multiple times and had no answer. No number to call. Don’t want to send back because they’ll probably ignore it and I’ll have no money back and I can’t give the item to someone. Wouldn’t recommend.

I have bought quite a few items from…

I have bought quite a few items from Freshairjunkie because prices were good and their selection of items also good. And items have always been delivered in good time and without issue, and when I recently had to return a hiking bag that I bought for my daughter as a gift she had a quick look and told me it was not the bag for her for various reasons (fair enough I always tell her to be honest)
Had to email for return policy a bit weird but okay, the email that I received back was a bit in your face and not the usual, so I went on Trustpilot to read a lot of the bad reviews and thought oh no this is probably not going to end well. So I sent it back tracked and signed for, paid by me which is fair enough especially from smaller companies. I expected the worst after reading the reviews but literally ten minutes after getting an email that it was delivered I got a refund, I must also add the item had not been used in any way shape or form.
Will I use them again yes as my experience has always been good, the reduction of one star is simply down to the returns email that I got which made me feel that I had been naughty or something but apart from that all has been good.

Rubbish customer service

So. Strange one this. I bought a tent, a sleeping mat and a pillow but, after completing the purchase read the returns policy which, if you read yourself, seems awfully specific. Anyway, I mailed the business (no phone number anywhere) and asked if I could open the tent indoors to check its quality, finish and size and still return it if I wasn't happy. Within an hour I had a response cancelling my order together with a mail that pretty much said we neither like your question nor trust you as a customer.

God knows what the owner thinks he's running but its not a retail business that's for sure. Consumers are protected by all sorts of legislation these days and returning opened goods that are unused is perfectly within the law. Quite how I'm supposed to check the finish quality and size of a tent without putting it up is anyone guess but that is what this lot seem to expect. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would set off on any sort of camping trip without first having checked their gear over so, unless you're cool with being up a mountain with a load of unopened stuff that turns out to be unsuited to the trip you're on, I'd not be buying from this lot.

What I also noticed is that this seems a consistent issue based on the reviews here. The company is rude, does not trust its customers and seems to make refunds as painful as possible. Given 99% of the stuff on this website can be bought elsewhere without playing 'gear roulette' I'd go somewhere else if I were you.

Disgusting after sales service

Disgusting after sales service. Bought a product off these clowns which failed in the two year manufacturer guarantee. Instead of just organising the return back to the manufacturers distributor for me like any other retailer would have. They decided to be extremely awkward and rude about it before sending me a return form from distributor 24 hours later in which there clearly supposed to complete on behalf of their customers. I imagine the root cause in not fulfilling their obligations under consumer law is they don't want to be liable for the postage both ways to rectify the issue. So they pass the book onto there customers. Terrible experience, won't be shopping here again...

I have bought a few items from this…

I have bought a few items from this seller. Always had a great experience and the items have arrived in a couple of days with free delivery. The latest purchase being the Soto Thermostack which i was going to buy, then they sold out. I kept looking then they had 7 in stock booommmm thank you. (Cheapest I have seen anywhere). Well to complete the set I also got the Soto Windmaster which landed today. Like a kid in a sweet shop ☺️. Thank you.

DO NOT SHOP HERE

DO NOT SHOP HERE. The owner is wholly unsuited to working in retail.
After having an issue with a product, I sought a return. Alarm bells first rang when I saw the return policy was well below legal standards, but the owner never referred to his policy…he either not aware of it or very aware that it needs work.
When the product was returned the owner failed to acknowledge receipt of the item, he failed to communicate anything about the product failure and failed to communicated anything about a refund. At every step of the process he had to be prompted to communicate and provide information. At no stage was good customer service provided and emails were consistently abrupt.

All good until the issues

All went well until issues arose with the product, the seller now seems not to want to answer emails or phone calls regarding what has turned out to be a faulty item.
I've tried on numerous occasions to contact FreshAirJunkie with no response via telephone and Ebay and little or no response via the registered email address.
I won't say do not purchase just if you do hope you do not have problems with your purchase.
This is a warrantied item so why I am having to wait over a month now to move this situation to a conclusion I honestly do not know.

I bought a tent doom these clowns on…

I bought a tent doom these clowns on Ebay, with no explanation or reply to messages my order was cancelled. Bearing in mind I have been on ebay 15+ years with an immaculate account... I tried to contact them but realised I had been blocked, again, no idea why nor explanation. As a last resort I contacted them on instagram incase there was a mistake, you guessed it, no reply. Save your sanity and buy literally any where else.

Rude and unhelpful customer service

Rude and unhelpful customer service. Bought Vango air mattress that started to leak due to wear around the the valve that was chafing out layer. First they tried to tell me that mattress deflates due to temp changes and its normal (don't think they understand how physics works). Then I was told to fix it myself.
I will never buy with them again

BEWARE! Rude and Postage costs will not be refunded!

Bought a Montane Trailblazer pack from the retailer however sent a couple of emails prior to purchase enquiring on price discount based on another retailers price but received no response. Eventually purchased the backpack and received it within the timescale, all good there. The pack comes with an adjustable back panel and harness system which works off a velcro pad which also has stitched piping on the edges. When adjusting the panel the stitching was compromised via the velcro and frayed. Reached out to the seller explaining the situation and explained its not a big issue however would not be durable enough and this was an oversight by the design team, osprey has a similar system but does not have stitched piping on the edges of the adjustable back and harness support.... this is not my first rodeo! I did offer to keep it and have the other half repair it but at a slight concession if feasible alternatively i was happy to return it. Here come the negatives, received an email asking to send it back, but also received a derogatory reply stating I had asked for discount prior to purchase and purchase one elsewhere and not to alter the pack. I found the reply rude and derogatory so decided to return the pack. I enquired on return shipping and was told to pay for it and use standard shipping or this would not be refunded. I paid for the appropriate shipping and sent the item back along with an email including pictures of the damage and Royal Mail receipt in a professional manner without any derogatory replies. I sent a further email once the item was received by retailer asking to refund at earliest convenience. Refund given a few days later but not the return postage costs. When enquiring I was told item sent back to manufacturer for verification. Having owned and ran a retail store it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out a 'genuine' fault and oversight on a product. In 60 years i have never had such a derogatory insulting experience from a retailer. Looking at other reviews customers have highlighted the same experience. Please note Simon's return policy on the website....in short there isn't one and don't expect a refund on your returns postage. Now reported to trading standards via citizens advice as its been long enough waiting for postage reimbursement. Stick to the big retailers as this retailer does not care about customer service and satisfaction!
