Had an issue and GearTrade came through
Made 2 prior used snowboard purchases and item was exactly as described, no issues. Found a snowboard that I was in search of for a few years still "New in Wrap" Condition was Excellent with the only note "top sheet has chips from storage"
Bought in September, Season in So Cal doesn't begin until late Nov/early Dec. When the snowboard arrived, I pulled it out of the box, did a quick exam, saw the deck chips and being it was still wrapped (in kind of a blurry/dirty wrap), thought nothing of it and slid it back in the box. Fast forward 2 months, now that the season is here - I pull it out of the box and tear off the wrap, topsheet has tons of scratches and multiple binding markings. Edges are all chewed up and scraped, some parts even rusted. Base has a core shot and lots of scratches like it was ridden over rocks.
Board was definitely a demo or rental.
I know there is a 14 day "no questions asked return policy", but given the snowboard was wrapped (is a blurry/murky wrap) and given the description, I trusted it was a new snowboard, not a used demo or rental that someone shrink wrapped and sold as "Excellent - still in wrap"
Update - Kayn from GearTrade came through by sending a free return shipping label for a full refund. My trust in GearTrade has been restored.
Experienced a ton of issues with…
Experienced a ton of issues with getting a box shipped to me for my gear. Expressed apprehension about equipment getting lost and was reassured that GearTrade pays for shopping insurance. Unfortunately the two pairs of brand new ski boots (2025 & 2026) that collectively cost $1200 were lost. I provided receipts for both boots and GearTrade offered $100 total, not even for each pair of boots. They told me it’s because the shipping company will likely not pay more. I have no faith that if they do receive a higher amount for insurance coverage they will give it to me. For a company that’s supposedly experienced in shipping and reselling expensive outdoor equipment it’s shocking that this happened. Given issues with receiving the box and shipping it to them, I would not feel great about buying gear from them either. If for some reason a solution is presented by GearTrade I’ll update my review but thus far customer service has been shit

Tried returning 30$ bike shoes within appropriate time frame. Shoes didn't come with necessary hardware for cleat. Was told need to pay restock fee and return shipping. Ridiculous. Terrible customer service.

Amazing buying experience!!
I had an amazing experience buying the Henderson 5mm L/S Short Wetsuit – Men’s through GearTrade. From start to finish, everything was smooth, transparent, and exceeded my expectations.
The listing was incredibly accurate and detailed — clear photos, thorough description, and honest condition notes. I knew exactly what I was getting before I clicked “Buy.” When the wetsuit arrived, I was honestly blown away — it looked virtually brand new. No weird smells, no signs of wear, super clean inside and out. If they hadn't said it was used, I would've thought it was new-old stock.
If you’re on the fence about buying used from GearTrade — don’t be. This wetsuit purchase proved to me again that it’s one of the best spots online to score high-quality gear at a great price. Highly recommended!
Fixed my Error
I had mistakenly inputted an old address for an order, and it wasn't until my package was returned to sender that I realized my error. Kayn was responsive and very helpful tracking down my order and making sure that is got sent to the correct address. All star customer service!
Return policy for misrepresentated goods is bad
After reading the guidelines for selling on geartrade I placed an order. My pants arrived 10 days after ordering. They had been hemmed and had two layers of sewing machining on the legs, not able to take the hem out without damage. Contacted them for return, based on their promise of "no alterations to clothing". They required me to submit photos of the "damage" and on the website there is no option for "misrepresentation of items". Then I find out that they will take the return if I pay for shipping BOTH ways, total of $16 . SO far they are still considering my application for return. At this point, considering that they will be taking 30% of my refund in fees. I wish I had read reviews on Trustpilot before buying. It looks like the best reviews are before 2023.

They sent to old address from 10 years ago
The company sent to address from 10 years ago through Shopify. When I called and asked that they sent it to the wrong address they merely said that is the address we had and no returns. The jacket was 140 dollars they coulcc DC of given me some sort of credit. Be careful when you go to a vendor that uses Shopify.
Company misrepresented items and return…
Company misrepresented items and return policy. Items are poorer quality than they claim, they send broken items when the description says worn, then try to tell you it’s still functional. Yeah I guess I could wear a shirt with holes or repair a camping item but do you think if I knew that condition I would have bought the items? NO, and that’s what they are counting on when they sell garbage.Return shipping is $3.99 BUT what they don’t tell you about is the restocking fee of half the price of the item itself.
Great experience!
Unlike a lot of these reviews, I had a great experience! I ordered a jacket at a great price and received it 3 days later. No issues at all and, overall, it was an easy, hassle-free experience.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. They try to hit you with fees fees fees after lying to you about that. Paid for free returns but got hit with $3.99 "restocking fee". Items are poorer quality than they claim. Dishonest website that I do not recommend using.
Failed to honor selling terms
Purchased item and paid for their "redo"option for free return. Unfortunately I had to return the item and i was then informed that it came from a third party seller, which was never mentioned when I was purchasing it. Then on top of that they did not honor the free return shipping and I had to pay to ship it back to the third party vendor. We'll see if they follow through on the full refund.
Gave them $250 ski pants worn once and…
Gave them $243 (with tax) Arctica Slide Zip 2.0 ski pants worn once. 2 months later they gave me 22 bucks back. Buying from them seem fine, just don't be the sucker who sells.
Geartrade is VERY Clunky
I recently tried to sell an item on GearTrade and found the process quite difficult. It's a VERY clunky and frustrating App to navigate. I put the same item in Marketplace, which was SO much easier in every respect.
Don't believe their hype
My first order with Geartrade was back in 2020, but they have now lost my business. As a discounted gear retailer (which is what they really are), their prices and selection are marginally ok, but marketing themselves as a sustainable alternative is dishonest and disgraceful. Take your business elsewhere unless you really don't care about being lied to.
Be aware
Be aware. They are scammers camouflaged in "rules and regulations. You can never return merchandise you buy from them. They require strongly compelling explanation as to why you wish to return their merchandise. Then they would answer that your explanation for returning their merchandise is not good enough. They are outright scammers!
"Comfort and Style:Geartrade & Skora Joggers Review"
I recently purchased a pair of Skora Joggers on Geartrade.com and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I’ve read some pretty bad reviews, but my experience as a buyer was EXCELLENT! The joggers arrived quickly and in excellent NEW condition, just as described by the seller. The Skora Joggers are incredibly comfortable and are excellent for running or walking. The minimalist design is stylish and versatile, making them perfect for both athletic activities and everyday wear. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend Geartrade.com to anyone looking for quality outdoor gear at a great price. Thank you for a wonderful shopping experience!
GearTrade makes buying used gear fast, easy and reliable
I've placed 4 orders with GearTrade over past few months. Ordering was easy and affordable way to gear up as I get back into hiking, backpacking and camping My orders arrived quickly and everything was as described. Plus I like lowering my carbon footprint by being part of the circular economy.
I had a great experience with them
I had a great experience with them, Quick shipping great customer service. I had a issue that was resold reasonably and quick.
Great for buying.... forget about selling
I got a great deal on MTB lights. However, when selling my MTB helmet and pads, the high commission structure basically nets you practically nothing. I was better off donating my items instead.
Do Not Do Business With GearTrade
This company used to be a fair option for selling used gear to interested parties at a price determined by the seller, and the seller was responsible for shipping the items directly to the buyer. They have removed this option, and now require you to ship your items to GearTrade and they will decide how much to list them for (which you can edit later, if you want) but they now take a 55% commission.
If you can get past all of that and opt to ship your items to them, they provide you a FedEx label for shipping. So, I packed up nearly $800 worth of items and sent it off. After not hearing anything for 10 days, I emailed to ask if they had received the package. I was informed that while the package "shows as being delivered to our address, ...the person who signed for it does not work here. All of our PO shipping labels are insured for $100, so that is the amount we can offer as reimbursement if this package was incorrectly delivered. I will initiate a search with FedEx and let you know the resolution."
This is a complete ripoff. There is no way of knowing if they are lying, and actually received my items (which FedEx says they did receive) and are now going to sell them for profit or if someone in their warehouse is stealing customer shipments or what happened. All I know is they have ripped me off and now I'm completely screwed and have no way to recoup my loss.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. It's a scam and they will rip you off.
