I listed and sold quite a bit of $$$…
I listed and sold quite a bit of $$$ worth of merchandise on this site. It was a costly and frustrating experience and I finally had my account deleted. They are unprofessional and simply do not have the tools to handle returns, etc. Their website needs a major overhaul. Their excuse is that they are a small company with limited resources. Can't say in my 40 yrs of business in the Outdoor Industry, anyone every used that excuse before. Not selling themselves well to say the least. My cost in time was by far the most frustrating part, but for the commission they charge, more than EBAY, it of course makes zero sense for selling outdoor gear, new or used.
Used to be good. NO LONGER!
I've used Geartrade for the past year and a half, selling dozens of items on their website. They've made a reasonable 20% commission from my sales. Recently though, and without informing their customers, they've changed their business model to NOT allowing sellers to sell their own items.
Is it their right to operate their business as they see fit? Yes. Is this a disingenuous business practice, establishing your online business as a seller-to-buyer online resource then, without warning, deleting that option? Perhaps.
I'll be deleting my account and NOT giving geartrade any of my more of my business. Big middle finger to you guys!

The website no longer allows you to sell your own gear, you must use their consignment model.
Have sold gear in the past on Geartrade with no issues. I logged in a week ago to list about a dozen winter items for sale, and discovered that there is no longer a way to list your own items for sale. The only option is to now use their Consignment model, even though the help desk documents still show that you can list your own items for sale. I emailed the help desk a week ago asking how to navigate to the "list your own items for sale" via the menu options and still have not received a reply. If gear trade no longer allows or supports members listing their own gear, then the website should clearly state this and your help desk documentation should be updated.

An item I had submitted to sell that needed a part in order to make it sellable or it would be rejected. The problem was that I couldn't find it any where. Scott went above and beyond to find what was needed. This was an experience that instills customer loyalty.

Good folks and good customer support
I've made a few purchases from geartrade.com now and have interacted with their customer service along the way. On a site bug fix, a return and a wrong shipment. They seem to be really great folks. I think they are busy, and there's been delays in replies, but I think that's because they have a quality thing going that is getting a lot of business. But they're honest and willing to help, can't ask for more than that.

Excellent customer service
I ordered some Chaco sandals for my son through this company because I found a good deal. We ended up having a problem with the sandals, a manufacturing defect. I needed to return them but it worked out good because he just could not get used to them and I was going to try to resell them. Customer service was wonderful, responding and giving me a hassle free refund. Great to work with!

Gear Trade Was Great, But Beware Backcountry Products
This review has been edited because Gear Trade was very helpful and responsive. The rest of this review is about "past season" Backcountry products: I bought Backcountry brand pants that are basically two backsides sewn together. Like a front butt side and a back butt side. I honestly thought these were knockoffs and brought it to their attention. They aren't. These were considered "past season," but I honestly think these were factory store quality /rejected by quality control pants. I own two pairs of the same past season Backcountry pants that I bought years ago. They don't have two butt sides. (And I have a pretty big butt and flat stomach--I always know immediately when I've put my pants on backwards). I find this situation misleading, as these were supposedly only discounted because they're past season. As much as I love their pants, I probably won't buy anything past season from Backcountry again.

Great customer service from Scott at geartrade!
I placed two orders after I accidentally left out an item that I meant to combine with my first purchase so that I could qualify for the free shipping. I was worried I was going to have to eat the shipping fee, but geartrade was able to fix the issue before the packages were sent out and combine the two orders for me, saving me the shipping cost! Great customer service from Scott! I bought a Karrimor Predator 80-130 liter ruck and the two side pocket attachments for it. Both items were in better condition than described, they were both brand new / completely unused. Super fast shipping too!

Awesome Climbing Shoes at Geartrade!
I recently bought some new climbing shoes with Geartrade. I had never heard of them before, so I was kind of hesitant going into the buy. But when they came, the pair was in awesome condition and was the perfect fit for me! I got them at a fair price, as well!

Customer support is sadly VERY LACKING...
Rec'd a tracking number for my purchase that showed delivery TO ANOTHER STATE..... DELIVERED MORE THAN 3 Weeks before my purchase date. I tried contacting GearTrade three separate times with no response. I finally filed a claimed with PayPal, THEN I hear from them. They said the tracking number was a "recycled" number, to be patient and it would take from 24-48 hrs. to update (which it never did). Well, my item did arrived, and that was the correct tracking number (weird). I the pants I ordered were in excellent condition. My complaint is that it took so long for them to respond to my emails. We're talking days, not hours. Very poor way to run a business. Very Unprofessional. Sadly, I will not be a repeat customer.

Hit or miss
Hit or miss. No measurements are included so you have to dig and search for manufacturer’s sizing charts and they’re not always accurate.
I received an item that was listed incorrectly. We worked something out. A large women’s cycling Jersey was maybe a large juvenile. It wasn’t even a woman’s small.
That said I’ve gotten great deals on items that still have their tags.
I don’t recommend buying clothes from unfamiliar brands or relying on manufacturer’s size charts.
Sizing is all over the place, they would have me buying clothes again if they simply listed or showed a photo with a tape measurer going across the chest, waist, and inseam.
I’m glad they exist, I hope they figure out sizing. I have three shirts now that don’t fit.
I might try to sell them as a seller.
Great handling of lost package
When fedex lost my package, Geartrade called fedex for me, confirmed that it was lost, and refunded me within 2 hours.

Geartrade has become my go-to place for outdoor gear that I am no longer using. I've had a GREAT experience selling items on consignment as well as making purchase. Customer service is excellent! I just rcvd 3 different refunds on gear that somehow was damaged/lost once in consignment with Geartrade. I really appreciate the accountability and the honesty of Geartrade.

My experience with gear trade was…
My experience with gear trade was great because I got a deal on a bag and I was super excited to try out the website for the 1st time. I was disappointed because the seller advertised the bag improperly and was missing apart and had a piece broken but after contacting support from gearTrade they were able to help me with the process and get a partial refund on the product.

Fantastic customer service; resolution reached to my satisfaction!
I am an extremely satisfied customer after this occurrence: I ordered an item (the seller happened to be Geartrade) that was not as described and reached out about receiving a partial credit as is an option stated in GearTrade's Return Policy. Not only were they quick to respond, Scott was kind, pleasant, helpful and understanding. I will be receiving a partial credit back to my method of payment as a result of reaching out the evening of June 13, 2023 and consider my concerns resolved as of midday, June 15, 2023. If you aren't sure about purchasing from Geartrade or are on the fence, take this as a kind push to go for it; if an issue arises, don't be afraid or hesitant to reach out right away to give Geartrade an opportunity to work with you!
