After my knee replacement surgery I received in-home physical therapy from Luna.
Melody Stevens, the therapist who came to my home was knowledgeable and compassionate. She worked with me and gave me exercises to do on my own. I am making very good progress and I think that Melody deserves a lot of the credit for that.
When I went to out patient physical therapy, they were amazed at my range of motion. Thank you Luna and especially, thank you Melody.

Therapist didn’t show up!

The day before my scheduled appointment I was asked to reschedule. I did so and then the therapist never showed! Garbage. I got an email 5 hours later telling me my appointment had been canceled.
Not a single person from the company reached out to apologize.

Ms. Corrdin, We apologize if there was miscommunication involved with your scheduling. We reviewed your case notes, so that we could provide feedback to our Concierge team member and our therapist. We discovered that you had originally been scheduled for a certain day and then canceled that appointment. Your therapist was not available on the day that you had requested to reschedule your appointment. We attempted to call you to reschedule, but we were unable to reach you. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced in scheduling your appointment. We’d be happy to remedy this for you and schedule your appointment, if we could speak to you directly on the phone. If this is something that you would like, please call us and we would be happy to get you scheduled.

Loved my therapist, hate the rest

Loved my therapist, but Luna’s billing and customer service department could use an overhaul.
For some reason this last stint of PT I had they weren’t billing me like they used to or I wouldn’t see the charge. I took me contacting them and telling them to see what I owe them and then I get hit with all my copay’s at once.
Have switched insurances with a new job and it’s been 3 weeks since I last heard from a representative trying to view my coverage, with a weekly follow up message by me to be ignored.

I recommend Luna

I have been under Amanda's care for about 5 weeks after shoulder surgery and feel like she is doing an amazing job getting me back to normal. She is so knowledgeable about what she does and is great about communicating with me about what I need to be doing - and more importantly - what I should not be doing. She is always on time and always professional. I appreciate the in-home service immensely and would absolutely recommend this service.

The therapist is excellent she finds to ways to use my daily chores with doing my exercises. She is just wonderful with her expertise qualities. I feel she is helping me a lot for the pain in my right hip, I'm almost 88 years old and they will not operate on a bad hip and he has helped me with the pain.

I am having knee replacement surgery…

I am having knee replacement surgery this week and am supposed to start PT 24-48 hours after surgery. My surgeon referred me to Luna but I can't get anything with them for the foreseeable future. First they put me on a wait-list but because no one took my case, they dropped me from the list. My surgeon's office contacted them and after getting dropped from a call, they begrudgingly set me up with someone two days after my procedure. Then I got a call today saying that because I was outside the therapist's area of work, my appointment was cancelled. I was finally able to get connected with someone but it still feels somewhat awkward. The fact that I have a bunch of bands and equipment from previous surgeries so I was ready but I felt like the therapist may not have been fully prepared for my session (it only lasted a little over 30 minutes).

Updated reply: Ms. McGervey, It was our pleasure to locate a therapist for you! One of our managers has personally been overseeing your care to ensure that you are receiving excellent service. Every first visit is an evaluation, to asses your condition, your medical needs and history, etc. We show that the therapist was at your home for the hour. If you would like to discuss your session at greater length, please contact Stephanie. You should have her number from when you spoke to her before. She'd be happy to discuss your treatment plan and care with you directly. Thank you.

Posted 4/17/24: Hello Ms. McGervey, We sincerely apologize for inconveniencing you. It appears that your location has proven to be a bit farther than our service area. However, we have located a therapist that is happy to drive the extra time to provide care to you. Our manager has left you a voicemail and is asking that you return her call to confirm that you would still like to receive care.

In-Home Physical Therapy on Your Schedule

The in-home physical therapy is a great option! My therapist, Evan Smith, is so knowledgeable and professional. He brings equipment and is always prepared for our sessions. We sync our schedules, and it is so easy since he comes to the house and Medicare pays for it. Each week I am getting stronger as he increases my routine. I have been telling all my friends about this great option.

Great experience

Adam Thomas has been fabulous. He started my therapy one week after knee replacement surgery. He has listened to me and challenged me all at the same time. I am four weeks out and walking the dog and driving. He is always on time and pleasant. A great experience.

I would give Luna PT zero stars if I…

I would give Luna PT zero stars if I could. A dear friend of mine was in hospital for over 1 month. Luna contacted us both about scheduling PT at my home ( where he is rehabbing). We both returned calls, over 2 weeks ago, and they said he wil start PT that week, as they’re finding Therapists. Since then? 1x per week, they text him saying they’re still looking for a therapist. What the heck? I’m doing PT and going to get him to my place. He’s been seeing a friend/therapist in the meantime, since Luna Therapy is a complete failure at their business. I believe that this company has the absolute worst customer service and booking services. I read the reviews, and the ones with 1 star all say same thing. They do not know how to do bookings, drop the ball, and are awful. They truly need to re-think their business and customer service model. Shame on Luna!!!

Hello Laney, After researching the information in your post, it appears as though your friend has been on our waitlist for a little under two weeks. We text him every day to let him know that we are still searching for a therapist with availability. As we explained to your friend, a wait list isn't a guarantee that we'll be able to match a patient with a therapist in the time that the patient would want.

However, it seems as though your friend was matched with a therapist and are all set. We are looking forward to treating him.

Sandi, we are saddened to read your post. We've left you two voicemails and spoken to your therapist about the discharge paperwork that is required before you can be treated at Luna. If you would like to submit that required paperwork, we'd be happy to get you scheduled with your therapist. We look forward to treating you.

Delayed Benefit Verification

Prior to arranging my first therapy session, I verified with Luna and my insurance that Luna is considered in-network based on my coverage. I even performed the intake process and was excited that I'm able to schedule an in-home therapy as it would be difficult for me to travel to a physical therapy facility. After my session, I got an email stating that after review, Luna is out-of-network and I was charged the self-pay rate. Disappointed that if it the out-of-network is true all along, they should disclosed that prior to my first session so I could have cancelled the appointment. Now I'm left to find another provider at the last minute as I need to have immediate therapy sessions done.
On the bright side, the therapist I worked with today was very thorough and explained a lot on the therapy plan.

Hello Elgin, We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your therapy. We wish that we had better news for you regarding your insurance benefits. When a patient initially calls, Luna collects patients’ insurance information and determine whether the insurance is either in or out of network, as we did when you called in. However, many patients have out of network coverage. As we communicated with you that day, we conduct a deeper benefits verification to understand what your out of network benefits are precisely, including your out of network deductible and copayment. This process is conducted after the call and, once we have that information from the patient’s insurance company, we relay that to the patient. Unfortunately in your case, your benefits did not include any out of network coverage. If you believe this information to be incorrect, we recommend reaching out to your insurance company to understand your agreement with them.

Extremely difficult to get appointment

Luna first touched base with me Wednesday January 31. I’m having knee replacement on February 15 and since I will not be able to drive for two weeks and I’m the sole driver for my house, having someone come is a lifesaver. After two days on their waitlist I was dropped out of the blue so I got myself back on the list and I was dropped again! I called and they said there was a glitch in the system and the earliest a therapist could come would be February 20 so I booked that and then the therapist would schedule future appointments. Because my doctor wants to have therapy the next day, I made arrangements around a friend’s work schedule to drive me to out patient therapy on February 16 and I scheduled directly with them before they got totally booked. It was a relief to know that the next session would be February 20 and I would not have to rely on getting someone to pick me up and take me to therapy. Today February 8 Luna calls to tell me they cancelled my appointment with their therapist because I’m supposed to have therapy within 3 days of surgery and they are going to put me on a waitlist!!! I explained to the woman on the phone my experience and was told it was a glitch in the system!!! So the bottom line they have cancelled any possible availability past the 3 days and put me on a waitlist! I was told if I got dropped to call them again! Absolutely HORRIBLE experience!!! Extremely unprofessional!

Luna was a great experience

Luna was a great experience. Adam, my physical therapist, had me walking with a cane in 17 days. Although I only reached 87% in the knee bend, it was due to the swelling in my right knee and leg. It was really hard to get the knee to bend all the way due to the swelling. Adam was patient, and guided me through the process. I had other physical therapy in California when I had my left knee done, but it was weeks before I was near where
I am now. Adam has done a great job and we really appreciate having someone like him on your staff. The best was having the convenience of having someone come to the house to do the therapy. Thank you very much.

Problem solved with Luna

I had a very positive experience with Luna about two years ago. The company was efficient, answered the phone, and the therapist was excellent. This time I have made repeated calls to Luna to simply schedule an appointment. On the first, I waited for 45 minutes on hold, and no one ever answered the phone. On the next three attempts, I used the option of getting a call back. No call was ever returned. This is very disappointing.

Shortly after posting the negative review, I did secure an appointment with an excellent physical therapist. I have had two sessions thus far and the experience has been flawless. I am glad Luna quickly resolved the problem quickly.

I am skeptical about this company

I am skeptical about this company. I requested an appointment and two days later I received a list of appointments to choose from. I responded and asked how can I check the credentials of the therapist coming to my home. I asked how do I know the therapist are experienced and qualified. This has been over a week and no one has responded to my question. I followed up again and no one responded. I believe I have the right to verify that the therapist coming into my home is experienced and have the proper credentials to do the job. There are a lot of scams going on these days and everyone is all about your money so people please be careful and check to make sure whoever is coming to your home have the proper credentials and are license to do what they said they are doing . I also believe that they are unprofessional because they could at least respond to my question. As much as it is convenient to have physical therapy in the comfort of your home I am not going to be scammed. I need to know that the person working on me have the proper credentials, and that they are qualified to do the job. If that is the case, then I might as well watch physical therapy on YouTube and do what they do before I allow myself to be scammed.

Hi Georgette, Unfortunately, we can’t find you in our system with just your first name. However, we can make an educated guess about what happened with your experience and attempt to explain. When you fill out our web-based appointment request, an automated message is sent to you, asking you to select a time for a follow up call from a member of our Concierge team. There should be about three blocks of time given as options to you, to accommodate your schedule. Once you have selected a time, a member from our Concierge team will call you at that time to discuss your therapy needs and your benefits. It’s a brief call but it allows our team to understand your needs as well as collect your insurance information if you have any. Unfortunately, texting back to the automated message won’t work. You should have received a message when you did, stating that it is an automated message and to speak to a live person, you must call or chat with us online.

Rest assured, all the physical therapists on the Luna platform hold a degree in physical therapy. They are not aides. In fact, our PTs have an average of ten years experience treating patients. Once we are able to speak to you to understand your needs, a therapist in your area that treats your specific care needs will be selected. This is the Luna process and it is not a scam. Luna is a national company that delivers care to thousands of patients. We would love to be able to treat and help you. We suggest calling our number (877.390.6659) to speak to a Concierge team member to schedule an appointment. This path may be less frustrating for you than attempting to schedule online.
