This company has predatory tendencies

This company has predatory tendencies. We took out a loan to help us keep our credit score high. It was an interest-free 12-month loan; after the 12 months, it turned into a 10-year loan with a 15% APR, and obviously, you accrue interest during the first year. You only have to pay that if you go past the 12-month period. I received emails from them, but we couldn't set up my online account for over a week because the online account has to be done on their side. They called a week later to "go over the loan with us." I asked about getting a paper statement, and she said they are a green company and that was not offered. I'm sorry, but I am more likely to miss an email statement than a paper statement, and that is why I wanted it. I have a system that works, and I am not about to mess up my credit score for this company. Then they wanted a bank account on file even though we did not want auto-pay. I was straightforward with them, saying they only wanted an account on file for late payments, wage garnishments, and to recoup money if the loan was under dispute. I told her the online agreement I signed never stated this was required. I had never been asked for my bank account information (bank name, account number, routing number, etc.) unless they were setting up auto-debits. I then told her I was going to pay it off in total because I did not want to do business with them. The lady was nice but just kept saying that it was their standard practice and that we wouldn't get an email statement until after the 12 months because that is when the payment is due. I have had 12-month loans, same as cash before, and they would still send a statement. It was just so predatory in nature because they don't want you to think about the loan until after the 12-month period, so you have to pay the accrued interest. Then, after I told her I was just going to pay it off, she wanted to go over the benefits of taking out more money with them. I told her no thank you, and I was sure she had to offer this, but please, I just told you I don't like your company. Then I made my online account to pay the loan amount the next day, and they again wanted my bank account information (bank name, account number, routing number, etc.) and would not let me pay with a debit card online. They make it as difficult as possible because they want your bank account info. Why can't I pay with my card online? My options online were to give them my bank account info or mail a check. So I called them and made them take my card info over the phone. I asked the lady if they keep my card on file, and she said they would normally, but since I was paying off the loan, they wouldn't keep my card on file. This was so annoying; they go out of their way to be so inconvenient, so you will break down and give them what they want. No thank you, I will never do business with this company again. They don't tell you most of this until after you have the work done and already signed up for the loan. Most people are unable to just pay off the loan like us and I feel very fortunate not to be trapped doing business with them. That is not lost on me or my family and I am happy to warn others about this. I did business with this company for a total of 8 days, and that was 8 days too many.

Had new plumbing installed signed a contract with Goodleap for 12 months interest free. I paid in full the amount on loan agreement in 4 months. 8 months before first payment due. That was good, but this company sent me an email stating I owe 109.00 for UCC filing with state of Calif. No where on the contract that I signed states there would be an additional charge of 109.00. Case manager has been assigned and she refuses to call me for discussion about this charge only thing she did was sent me an email showing 109.00 due. First of all this charge is over 5 times what the state of California charges for UCC filings. They are gouging the customer. Beware of the fraudulant company

TERRIBLE!!

TERRIBLE!!! STAY AWAY!!! Would have left 0 STARS, but it was not an option!!

I recently financed a roof with goodleap, immediately upon being approved the calls started to add more improvements since I had been approved for much more than I needed. I was not interested and actually refinanced the loan immediately.

I spoke to a representative inquiring about my pay off, he advised if payment was received prior to initial due date the account would be clear.

On initial due date after funds had been received and applied a $40.00 draft occurred, I figured it was a fee for the payoff, could not get an answer on what it was for, THEN, received an email today stating I had a payment due of 357.00 so I called, I was then told it was for past due interest. I asked "Why didn't you take that with the 40.00 payment? Why let me keep accruing" No answer was given only, "We didn't know you wanted to close the loan"

Really!!!! So just to be clear of these shady scammers I had to pay $491.00 bucks today to stop accruing interest on a loan that was paid off!!

Never again! Go to a traditional lender, don't get scammed like I did!!!

GOODLEAP = PREDATORY LOAN COMPANY ON STEROIDS!!

This is the worst Predatory loan company in the world!!! Goodleap will finance any solar fraud and any solar scams all day long. STAY AWAY FROM GOODLEAP THEY WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE!! I can not beilive this company has not been shut down yet, Please DOJ investigate this corrupt predatory lender, ASAP!!!!

POOR CUSTOMER CARE & SERVICE

2-10-25 I contacted Goodleap to make an additional payment after our Autopay on 2-1-25. I was told by Eric that it would be possible only if the next statement had not been cut.Upon checking I was advised by Eric it HAD cut which was surprising since we had just made a payment on 2-1-25. I was also told by Eric that if they took my extra payment over the phone that day, I would also have to make the March payment!!!! Since I elected not to follow this ridiculous policy we will be PAYING EXTRA INTEREST until the March payment will be withdrawn via Autopay. Considering these facts, I am not surprised Goodleap has such negative reviews.

Ha I see I'm not alone!

Ha I have the exact same complaint as another poster here! The presentation of the agreement is downright shady. After getting hit with a $37k emergency re-pipe just before Christmas I discussed my options with the company representative and mentioned I wished this had occurred in '25 so I could put it in that year's budget. He showed me the option of getting a loan with Goodleap which would let them start work immediately and I wouldn't incur a payment until Feb.'25. That was perfect so I decided to go ahead and sign an agreement so the guys could get to work. When the contract arrived a quick glance at the payment schedule confirmed that payments wouldn't begin until Feb,'25, "2 months after the credit start date."
"win/win" right? Wrong!! When I arranged for cash to pay the balance in full I called Goodleap to make the payment only to discover they activated the loan back in Dec. and had been charging interest since that date, now wanting an additional $800 in interest and fees!!! Had I known this I would have sucked it up and arranged to pay the balance in Dec. without getting this loan.
It is my opinion that while this practice may not be illegal it is certainly misleading, not something I would expect from a reputable company! Both Goodleap and the rep. from Allcity Plumbing should be ashamed!!

STAY AWAY FROM GOODLEAP!
Loan terms were laid out in a way where it was easy to confuse the "First Payment Date" as the date in which the loan needs to be paid off to avoid compounded interest charges. The full balance of the original loan amount was paid well before the "First Payment Date", only for us the find out that we are still being charged the compounded interest of $6013.71 because we paid it after the "Promotional Period End Date". If our intent was to take extra time to pay off the loan while accepting the compounded interest, it would make absolutely no sense for us to pay the balance in full. I've taken out several of these types of loans in my life and everytime the lender would include very clear and explicit verbiage stating something to the extent of "If balance in full is not paid by XXXX date, then compounded interest will be added to the balance." Goodleap's original contract, monthly statements, and payment reminders had no such verbiage, but merely stated the "Promotional Period End Date" and "First Payment Date". This type of wording seems to be very intentional so as to confuse their customers into thinking that if they pay the balance in full before the "First Payment Date" that they could avoid the interest charges. This practice that Goodleap uses has not only fooled us, but many others as well. There are many bad reviews from people on Trustpilot and BBB who have fallen victim to their predatory business practice who are in a very similar, if not the same circumstance.

AC DC installed my roof panels 10/22

AC DC installed my roof panels 10/22, since then I have not had any warranty checks at all, these panels NOT working, My bills are doubling, I found out by BBB AC DC had went out of business 4/24, Left me with no working panels and $100.00 mo to Good leap that only says you still have to make payments, I am not happy with making payments to a company that will not service the products that they financed for there customers. I am at the point to turn to legal on this problem.

This mortgage company is the worst. If making online payments is what you want, you will not get it. If wanting to view your account online, again, this is not for you. Do you want to make payments over the phone? This is not for you. Do you expect them to pay your Homeowners Insurance, or Property Taxes onetime? Well if you answered, yes, then no this is not for you. Do you want to have your check returned to you for no reason or even an explanation? Then this is the place for you. Do you require bad customer service? If you, then yes, this is the place for you.

Terrible company

Terrible company, don't even try. The interest rate is charge on Daily basis, your first monthly payment goes toward the interest. I would never refer them to any one.

Hidden Fees

Hidden fees and very misleading loan practices. Both the home contractor and the GoodLeap representative stated there would be no fees or interest if the loan was paid off before the due date, but GoodLeap still charged a fee for removing a grant of security interest. GoodLeap has vague language in the contract, with no mention of the amount of the fee, that they state allows them to collect it, despite what their sales representative said.

Awful customer service company

Awful customer service company. They changed my due date from the 1st of July to June 29. Then after a month and a half to get them to correct it, instead of moving August 29 due date to September 1 like it should have been they moved it all the way up to August 1. This effectively added an entire months payment to my loan. I have made my monthly payments as the loan agreements have stipulated, however due to this issue they keep telling me that I am behind a payment and they are reporting to my credit report that I am over 30 days delinquent. Every time I call I am told that a complaint is going to be opened and that I will receive a call or email. Of course, I never receive any calls from them, except from the collections department. When I call back to check on the status of the complaint they tell me that the complaint was closed. They offer to open another complaint, and round and round we go. This last time, they gave me the name and phone number of my “case manager” named Patricia Pryor, and her phone number and cell number. I called the cell number yesterday and the lady that picked up never heard of Patricia Pryor. I am sure they gave me a fake number to get rid of me. I am super angry and at a loss for how to actually be taken seriously when I call. Usually the billing employee that I talk to has no problem seeing the issue, then when I get transferred to a manager, they tell me that I am off base and not understanding the situation. They offer to open a complaint and away we go.

What do I do???

Goodleap is horrible to deal with

Goodleap is horrible to deal with. They will not accept billpay electronic payments, just by check and for some reason it takes forever to clear the check my credit union sends. I got a call stating my bill was past due. I sent it. They are like wait until a certain date and strangely enough it cleared my account that very day. I made larger than needed payments, it all goes to interest. They badger you about signing up for auto pay every time you call. I am getting a loan to pay them off and when I called for payoff, they wanted me to sign up for auto pay.
They should be closed down.

Disrespectful “customer service”

I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with GoodLeap customer service multiple times, and each experience has been incredibly frustrating. Unfortunately, not a single representative was remotely polite or helpful. Each time I tried to speak, I was interrupted or spoken over, making it nearly impossible to explain my issue. On top of that, whenever I attempted to assert myself to be heard, I was accused of "screaming"—which could not have been further from the truth.

The lack of professionalism didn’t stop there. Their responses were consistently delayed, and despite making several payments, none of those were properly documented, causing unnecessary confusion and further delays.

I’m extremely disappointed with how my concerns were handled, and the overall lack of accountability and respect from their customer service team. If you value timely, efficient, and respectful support, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Avoid

Avoid. We financed emergency sewer repairs with them on the recommendation of the service provider, and their misleading and non-communicative practices cost us thousands in interest and fees. We finally got away from them with balance transfers. A borderline scam.

Two negatives

First, their website is terrible. You cannot even see your current balance. Second, I paid off a one year interest fee loan in four months. They charge a $189 UCC fee. I found out that that is a fee to local government because they basically put a lien on my HVAC system. Although the contract does state they "could" charge that fee, it should have been more clear since not every company files a lien for an HVAC system. I guess good credit wasn't enough.

1. They do not answer the phone. The call goes to an automated attendant that tells you to stay on the line and then transfers you to dead air.

2. The web site isn't any better

These folks advertise "world class" customer service. In fact, there is no customer service.
