The worst insurance company

The worst insurance company. It has taken me 2 months to get money back from a claim- they denied it with zero reasoning so I had to call and was on hold for 2 hours .. he told me what I needed to upload so I did - denied again- this went on for 3 times before I finally just had to pay the doctor for another drug req form (had it with my old insurance company) then they finally approved it but never reimbursed me - so I had to call and wait on hold for another 30 minutes because their call back option doesn’t work. In total I had to speak to 4 different agents and spend close to 6 hours on hold - then they told me it would take 2 weeks to even reimburse me . If my company had any other options I would not be staying with them.

Greenshield Canada customer service

No matter what time of day you call - it’s anlmost impossible to speak to a live agent . The “on hold call queue “ doesn’t give you an idea of how long you will be on- hold. No choice of music - even worse. Terrible service .

EMPLOYERS! DONT USE THIS COMPANY

Unfortunately, this insensitivecompany is administering my healthcare spending account. I am retired, senior and suffering PTSD from work related issues. On April 1 I submitted a claim. On April 2. I received the nastiest email stating “ YOUR ACCESS TO SUBMIT CLAIMS ONLINE HAS BEEN REMOVED”
It went on to say among other things that “A further audit review of all claims you have submitted online is being completed”
I found this extremely distressing, it was nasty and threatening. It’s not something a healthcare company should tell clients.

When I called, I found out that the truth was they simply wanted the prescription and the receipt for the April 1 claim. But that was not what was stated in the nasty email.
This is not the first time I’ve had untoward and disgusting interactions with this company.

I would suggest that any employer, looking for a healthcare insurance company should run from these terribly inhumane and insensitive people.

Can't get a hold of anyone by phone

Can't get a hold of anyone by phone or email. They get paid and you end up having a big bill at your healthcare provider. Insurance in general is a scam the way they do it here in North America.

STAY AWAY

As a condition of hire my 3 month term was waived. VICTOR did everything they could to drag out the process. And once the cards were in my mail box. I still couldn't use it because all though they were informed I was a diabetic they in my opinion purposely did not tell me that I needed to show them prescriptions proving I am. You can't get anyone to answer the phone. And my companies rep(Anne) is rude and does not display professionalism during correspondence. Ive asked how to submit the prescriptions online and her response made it sound as though I am stupid. Upon attempting to upload the documents there is no specific place to do so. They Also raised my companies premiums by 750 a month with out any email or communication as to why. I definitely do not recommend Victor for personal or group coverage. These people are the personification of indifference and spite. They show that health insurance only exists filor those who dont need it. Which contradicts why they exist in the first place.

Wait times in the phone are very very long 55min and I gave up.

Emailing them for questions is less than helpful. I personally dont trust their answers as they just deny everything without an explanation. Their coverage booklet severaly lack details.

I was a client with GS for about 5 years.

I was a client with GS for about 5 years. First of all they gouged $80/ month for travel and dental coverage which escalated to $100. Nearly all my prescription claims were denied - including while I was traveling and needed to see a dentist - their customer service rep, listened to my issue on the call where I was in severe pain, and still she denied my claim. Later, my prescription medication claim while abroad was denied - are you kidding me? When I called to cancel finally, the rep mentioned that I didn't have the best plan and perhaps I would want to speak to someone about getting a plan with adequate coverage. I asked why GreenShield would not mention that before over the past 5 years - when I was apparently sold an insufficient medical plan at $100 per month? They had nothing to say. Greeshield is negligent and unethical in my opinion - they have gouged $5000 from my account without providing adequate healthcare services nor the compliance to ensure my plan was suitable. Their customer service staff consistently lack empathy and politeness. My recommendation after five years? Shop around. There's better out there - GreenShield is subpar and not worth the exorbitant fees, for shamefully low returns, an inexcusable lack of adequate coverage.

Greenshield does not cover HRT

Greenshield does not cover HRT! They are obviously using outdated information from the 1990's. Hormone Replacement Therapy is not a discretionary or cosmetic treatment. It is the standard medical therapy for a recognized endocrine disorder: hormone deficiency. My physician prescribed this medication to treat a clinically diagnosed condition, not to improve general wellbeing or comfort.

Untreated hormone deficiency is associated with well-documented medical risks, including:

* Accelerated bone loss and osteoporosis
* Increased cardiovascular disease risk
* Cognitive decline
* Severe vasomotor instability (hot flashes, sleep disruption)
* Genitourinary atrophy and recurrent infections
* Mood and neurological symptoms related to endocrine dysfunction

HRT is the first-line treatment recommended by major medical bodies including:

The North American Menopause Society (NAMS)
The Endocrine Society
The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC)

These organizations recognize hormone therapy as medically necessary treatment for hormone deficiency when prescribed by a physician after clinical evaluation.

To all my fellow women out there - Get LOUD about this. It's unacceptable that this therapy is not covered.

Waited an hour and a half to speak to…

Waited an hour and a half to speak to agent about claim denied unreasonably. Would give zero stars if possible. Not the first time this has happened to me.
This company masquerades as not for profit probably to avoid paying taxes.

Terrible customer service.

Terrible customer service.
I waited over 1.5 hours and was transferred four times, including three times to the wrong department. I had to repeat my issue each time.
The agent insisted a “Prescription Details” section does not exist in the app — even while I was reading it directly from the screen. Instead of checking, she dismissed it outright.
The total call lasted 2 hours and 13 minutes, and my issue was still not resolved.
This call took place on February 9, 2026.

Customer Service? Nope. Not available.

Unfortunately this company cannot provide timely customer service ( had to contact for business reasons). There is a hellaciously long wait for an agent. I am so very very glad that MY insurance company is a real company that provides fast, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable customer service. I would be angry and upset were I to need to use this one. I strongly urge people considering this company to give their heads a shake and find a better one.
