After what I’ve seen at the tournaments and practice, in my opinion, this organization embraces a bullying-type environment. I’m not new to wrestling, so what I’ve seen here is complicit behavior and purposeful negligence in developing an environment that promotes unfair practices and tactics when wrestling opponents, and it never gets addressed because parents are afraid to speak up due to retaliation. Yes, you are going to get hurt in this sport, but if your opponent is purposely trying to hurt you when they are older and stronger because the coaches do not take the time to properly match up these kids because it is so overcrowded. Development of young kids should be taught toughness and how to push through difficulties and to not be turned into a modern-day sensitive woke pansy, but then you have the other end of the spectrum, a Cobra Kai-type mentality, and that’s where this place is at in my opinion, and I’m not the only parent that thinks so. Other parents seem to encourage this behavior because their kids are part of the problem, making them complicit. They hide behind Darlington, where you cannot leave a Google review anymore since Darlington is an educational institution. Guerrilla wrestling is not an educational institution; it is a wrestling club; they only use the facilities at Darlington; they are not part of Darlington. Also, I’m curious as to the reason why there are no reviews since 2020 on their Facebook. These are all very shady tactics used to keep the truth hidden. Parents that send their kids here know what I’m talking about, but there is no other wrestling outlet in Rome, so they can’t speak up or are afraid to. I feel this org lacks integrity and fails to teach good competitive character and integrity to these young people. Instead, it’s a win at all costs mentality, not win with character and integrity. In my opinion, I also feel that they could potentially be misusing their 501(c)( 3) status and trying to hide behind Darlington, a private educational institution, throws up a lot of red flags.
