Ups and Downs of life.
The stairlift was fitted in a quiet and quick manner by two polite and mannerful fitters who were also extremely tidy,no kind of mess left behind.I would recommend HANDICARE.CO.UK to anyone needing a stairlift.
An experienced team
Each stage of the process was conducted by different experienced people, from the sale, the measuring up, delivery and installation… all well centrally coordinated. The instructions were clearly explained. We love the final stairlift. It goes around bends cleverly.
DO NOT BUY A COMPANION 1100 FROM HANDICARE
DO NOT BUY A COMPANION 1100. NO ENGINEER OUTSIDE OF HANDICARE WILL TOUCH IT. ACCORDING TO THEM THIS IS THE WORST STAIRLIFT AROUND. I ONLY WISH WE HAD READ THESE REVIEWS FIRST.
Installed MARCH 2023.
BEEPING PROBLEMS FROM THE START.
The lift would decide to beep continuously at the bottom of the stairs for no reason and then would stop beeping whenever it wanted to. The lift, apart from the odd occasion, worked fine. It would intermittently stop midway up or down the stairs and then would start again. Again not too much of an issue.. we were new to stairlifts and took it in our stride thought this was just to be expected.
We brought these issue to the attention of the engineer that came to do the first service. He said it was dust on the sensor and said he would clear it.
The ‘problem’ continued but again the lift was functioning so we just assumed the dust was causing the issue.
We mentioned it again at the second service. The same thing was said by the engineer then too. We took his word.
2 warranty was up in 2025. We’re due a service but 1 month before it’s due the lift packs up completely. The call out charge with Handicare is extortionate and also because because we were out of warranty we were not their ‘emergency’ call out priority and so would have to wait 4 days!!!! They recommended a provider though.
We called them. As well as other service engineers and when we told them which stairlift, most declined to come out as the stairlift is rubbish and when we called the recommended engineers… They groaned. Literally. They did come out. Replaced the battery. But the lift would not work. We were down £250 and now had a stairlift that wouldn’t function.
The recommended engineers said they too used to sell companion 1100 but stopped as they were notoriously BAD and were riddled with manufacturing faults.
We emailed Handicare to try and get the lift repaired or replaced FOC (as it’s been less than 6 years) as the lift should still be working. They should not have been selling it knowing that it had so many faults. Which clearly they do you only need read some of these reviews and speak to independent engineers.
Their response in a nutshell was that we never told them we were having problems. They’re not contractually obliged to come out as an ‘emergency’. They haven’t ‘inspected’ the stairlift themselves so can’t comment. And we need to pay for repairs.
Such a waste of space company. I strongly advise you pay a little extra and head to Stannah where they offer all kinds of on going service packages outside of the warranty period for £300 per year (approx). They also come out within 3 hours of an emergency call out. Means you’re never left stranded.
These things are so important for those with mobility issues and can severely affect quality of life. Something Handicare simply do not care about.
Zero compassion. Zero customer service. Zero honour. Only about getting your money, after that you’re on your own.
Oh but apparently due to an oversight we got one free service. So we should be grateful for that at least.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
AVOID THE COMPANION 1100!!!!

Walk in Shower Installation
I have just had a walk in shower installed, replacing a bath, due to mobility issues.
The entire process from start to finish has been faultless, from Luke at head office, to Rod who initially came to assess the job, to Dave and Chris who expertly carried out the installation quickly and efficiently.
And then a brilliant disposal of all the rubbish done by a company called Any Junk.
Communication between the company and the people who did the work and with me was excellent. I was consulted throughout to ensure that I got what I wanted in terms of the end product. I am so pleased. Thank you to everyone for a job beautifully done.

Handicare Stairlift
I have been using my Handicare Stairlift for over
two weeks and have to say how pleased I am. The first visit, quotation, measuring and installation all took place in a most efficient manner, installation taking just over half a day. Its management was explained to me in a clear way and I have not had any problems. Everyone was confident in their work and I have no hesitation in recommending this firm.
Great price, service and fast fitting.
Friendly and efficient staff from sales to installation. Clear and competitive price and fitting in less than 3 days.
Great support from the resolutions team
Great support from the resolutions team following the breakdown of my parents rather old stair lift. We were able to have new replacement lift installed quickly at a good price with its associated 2 year warranty.

The unexpected same day response to the stairlift being non-responsive was brilliant. Unfortunately, some dirt was left on the stair carpet but Ellen contacted me to tell to arrange for it to be professionally cleaned.
She kept in contact with me and her response was second to none.
High Quality Stairlift at an Affordable Price
For anyone wanting a stairlift, you could do a lot worse than choosing a stairlift from Handicare. There is a connection to Age UK, and the company have a first class product and an excellent service process.
I was attracted to this particular product because the pictures didn’t show any moving parts, and sure enough the components consist of a rail and a seat. Apparently there are only three manufacturers of stairlifts in the country, Stannah, Acorn and Handicare, and after some research the Handicare product was deemed to be the best of the items on offer.
I contacted Handicare and made an appointment for their agent to come out, measure up, offer any advice and give me a price. The cost of the stairlift isn’t the cheapest, but in terms of quality it is a definite case of getting what you pay for.
Having agreed a price, a deposit was paid and a vague delivery time offered. Five to seven days isn’t an unreasonable expectation, as each stairlift is individually made, as obviously all staircases differ.
Having ordered it, a phone call confirmed that the stairlift would be delivered on a Thursday and installed on a Saturday (seven day turnaround). A fitter arrived at the appointed time and took only two hours to install it. Please note that the stairlift rail is attached to the stairs, not the wall, but still leaves an adequate space for anyone to walk up and down.
I then got some basic instructions on how to use the machine, and the fitter departed. The balance of the invoice was paid by me a couple of days later.
This stairlift is a Godsend, and allows me the freedom to get around the house as I used to be able to do. I am very impressed with the product and the quality. Very simple to use and a dry cloth keeps it clean.

A completely well organised project. We had three quotes Handicare were not the cheapest, but we were confident that they would deliver and fit the lift on time.
All packaging was removed and the work was done in a workmanship manner
Back up and cummunication with the sales office, engineers and delivery drivers was excellent.

Great service from start to finish
Very professional from start to finish.
From our first call, then the surveyor, parts delivery and finally installation.
Great overall experience
Great overall experience, easy to contact to request a visit to compile a quote. Very helpful and took care to understand what we needed. Placing the order was straight forward, I needed to wait until other work was completed in the house but it was not a problem, when I advised them I was ready for installation it was done quick and efficiently within three days. I would recommend Handicare Stair Lifts.
Making the choice for a new stair lift
Apart from a small logistics error causing delay in installation the process of estimate, survey and installation went smoothly. My choice was made by the interpersonal and technical skill of the surveyor and final satisfaction by the quality and performance of the system supplied. Communication and observation during the installation reinforce my confidence that I have made the best choice.
The engineers are always professional
The engineers are always professional, approachable, helpful, courteous, competent.Last night l had to call for assistance and Lewis called from East Kilbride to say he would be there within
1 hour. As good as his word, he arrived and fixed things. He is the perfect emergency engineer: nothing is too much trouble for Lewis!! Thanks Lewis for all the support you have provided and thanks to all the other guys as well!
