Hardman crafts refined hardwood furniture for homes and hospitality spaces. Defined by clean lines, rounded edges, and solid hardwood construction, our collection spans dining, living room, bedroom, and outdoor furniture. Each piece is made to order from FSC-certified oak, walnut, ash and iroko by a team of over 60 craftspeople. Alongside our standard collection, we offer semi-custom and fully custom options, with the flexibility to adjust dimensions, finishes, and details.

Our aim is to make furniture that is enduring enough in both quality and form to move between homes, cities, and different chapters of life. To support that, founders Erika and Liam are closely involved in every step of the process, from design and material selection to construction and finishing.

Today, from our Brooklyn headquarters, we work with homeowners, interior designers, and trade partners across residential and hospitality projects. Clients come to us for solid wood construction, easy customization, and a clear process from selection through delivery.

Hardman Design began in Berlin in 2012, where Liam Hardman built every piece himself. That hands-on practice shaped everything that followed, a disciplined approach to proportion, detail, and construction. Today, Hardman Design is based in Brooklyn and led by partners Liam Hardman and Erika Hardman. Our team now includes over 60 master craftspeople.

From Berlin to Brooklyn, many places have shaped our work. Time in Southern France deepened our appreciation for materials with character. In California, wide-open landscapes strengthened our focus on organic forms and gave us the confidence to let a single idea speak. New York—where space is limited and life moves quickly—sharpened our belief that every object has to earn its place.

Today, even as we’ve grown and our influences have expanded, our approach has stayed the same. Our aim is to create furniture that is enduring enough in quality and form to move between homes, cities, and different chapters in life. That means we stay close to the work and to the people we make it for. Whether you’re a designer working on a large project or an individual selecting furniture for your home, we offer direct support throughout the process.

Exacting Craftsmanship

All of our furniture is constructed by hand from solid hardwood at our single partner workshop in Ukraine. The same team of skilled craftspeople builds, finishes, and inspects every piece in-house. Liam stays closely involved in production to ensure every piece meets our standards.

Sustainable Furniture, Made to Last

We only source FSC-certified European and American hardwoods, including oak, walnut, and ash. This supports responsible forestry and lets us work with woods known for strength and stability.

To protect each piece, we use plant-based hardwax oil finish. This natural surface treatment is designed to be maintained and renewed so pieces can stay in use for years to come.

Custom Without Complication

All Hardman Design furniture is made to order, allowing you to tailor each piece to your home or project. Choose your preferred hardwood species, adjust dimensions, and select from multiple finish and fabric options.

We can also take on fully custom work or make significant modifications to pieces in our collection, including special finishes, upholstery details, custom fabrics, and non-standard sizing.
