The drivers are amazing helping you to and from appointments. Everything is taken out of your hands and you are guided each day by phone or text what is happening the next day. The Surgeon from Wales is a genius. The hospital staff and menu in Alicante wouldnt be the best...felt that we were left alone for a lot of hours after surgery which is dangerous. The food is definitely not catered for us Irish. The translation staff were great in the hospital though. So was the Physiotherapist.

I had been on the HSE waiting list for years with no progress so when I saw the advert for Healthcare Abroad. From the word go the service was fantastic, I was talked through every step I only had minimal work to do myself.
When I arrived in Spain everything was taken care of, transfer from/to the airport and hospital. The staff guided us around the hospital making sure we were on time for all our appointments and tests, we didn't have to worry about anything.
The surgery went totally to plan, the hospital staff were great and the Healthcare Abroad staff were always on hand in case we needed anything.
The whole experience went flawlessly and I totally recommend Healthcare Abroad to anyone waiting for the HSE. Great job guys!

My experience was 100 percent

The staff were absolutely top class.But on Wednesday 20th later in the night i was in pure agony early Thursday morning. I then rang 2 of the team but got no answer so I had to get a private doctor to the hotel and recieve an injection for the pain. It cost me 114 euros which health care abroad refused to reimburse me which I find was unfair as I tried twice to contact them first through the hotel and then by myself as I couldn't bare the pain. So maybe that is something to be looked at.

My experience with HealthCare Abroad was a very positive one. From the consultation phase to the operation and the aftercare given. The doctors, nurses and staff in Valencia were very professional. The aaiting time from consult to operation was less than a month. Everything from the accommodation to hospital transfers, transfers to and from physio appointments, transfers to and from the airport. I would highly recommendthis service to anyone who is in need of a hip replacement

I cannot thank Healthcare Abroad enough for everything they have done for me throughout my whole journey. From the very beginning, everything was handled so quickly and professionally, and I was booked in for surgery much faster than I ever expected.

A special thank you to Debbie, who was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She answered every single question I had, no matter how small, and always made me feel reassured and supported throughout the process.

I also want to mention Suzanne, the lovely driver who picked me up from the airport. We talked the whole journey, and she instantly made me feel comfortable and welcome. It really helped calm my nerves arriving in a different country.

A massive thank you as well to all of the drivers — Joe, Kevin, James, and Tony — for always making sure I got where I needed to be safely and on time. Every single member of the team went above and beyond for me, and I truly appreciated all the care and support they showed.

A special mention to Caterina who also helped me a lot after my surgery. She was always on the other side of the phone to help with any queries that I had.

An amazing service from start to finish. I was waiting over a year in Ireland for knee surgery and was told I'd be waiting another year. A colleague told me about Healthcare Abroad, so I got in touch with them. They supported me through every step, from online consultations, booking dates and arranging a loan if needed. My Arthroscopy surgery was booked within 3 weeks. I booked my flight and everything was taken care off from drivers, hotel, hospital appointments, surgery, aftercare, physio, medication and the final consultation on the day I was leaving. An absolutely amazing service, they couldn't do enough to help and the drivers made me laugh every day. From the first phone call, to surgery and back home, it took 4 weeks in total. I am now able to walk without the awful pain. I would 100% recommend Healthcare Abroad Denia.

I honestly can’t speak highly enough about Healthcare Abroad and the experience of travelling to Valencia for hip arthroscopy surgery through the Cross-Border Directive.

Even getting to the first appointment was really easy and stress-free. The team were so responsive, dealt directly with my GP to arrange the referral, gathered all of the information, and organised accommodation for me as well. You don’t actually need to already be on a public waiting list to access this route, which was great.

They also handle all of the paperwork for reimbursement from the HSE, which is huge. They know exactly what they’re doing and their experience is incredibly valuable compared to trying to navigate the process alone.

From the moment I arrived in Valencia, everything was made so easy. Every appointment was organised, we were collected and brought everywhere on time, and the team always knew where everyone needed to be. When you’re travelling abroad for surgery, that level of organisation and calm makes a huge difference.

Any question or concern I had was dealt with immediately and with genuine care. At one point I wanted to double check a medication, and they arranged an appointment with an internal medicine doctor for the next day with zero fuss.

John, who drove us to and from appointments, made the whole experience so much easier. He was reliable, kind, calm, and genuinely cared about people. He was lovely company every day and became such a reassuring presence throughout the trip. The entire team were really caring and attentive, I genuinely can’t fault any of them. Cala, the hospital liaison, was so thoughtful, supportive, and mindful at every stage. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.

The hotel that HCA uses was very used to supporting people recovering from surgery, which made things easier. While the beds maybe weren’t the most comfortable and the breakfast definitely got a bit boring after a week, the staff were really accommodating. The hotel is well located with plenty of restaurant options and good coffee available! They even had wheelchairs to borrow so we could still get out and about when I wasn’t able to walk far.

The hospital experience was excellent. Everything was organised so efficiently, the hospital was modern and spotless, and all of the staff were brilliant. I stayed one night and the nurses took such good care of me and I had a private room which was so good to decompress after surgery. My surgeon and anaesthetist both took the time to explain everything clearly before the surgery and made me feel very at ease. The surgeon is exceptional at what he does, and also gave me so much time in my post-op consultation and answered all my questions patiently and in great detail - not at all rushed or arrogant like you might experience in Ireland.

A highlight for me was the post-op physio with Sergio. He was honestly miles ahead of any physio experience I’ve had in Ireland. He really knows his stuff and was lovely. I stayed in Valencia for over a week after surgery and had physio every day, which made such a massive difference to my recovery. If people are able to stay a little longer post-surgery, I’d really recommend it for the rehab support alone.

Travelling abroad for surgery can feel daunting, but Healthcare Abroad made the entire experience feel safe, supported, and genuinely human from start to finish. I’m so grateful to all of them and so glad I did it.

I went to Valencia to get a cataract removed, I was very happy with the pain-free procedure the lovely staff, the reliability of appointments, timing and care. The only thing I feel was not 100% was that I got an email shortly before going to Valencia asking if I was interested in an upgrade of the lens that would protect against a halo at night time and in the evening. This was going to cost another €1,500 per eye which was a bit too much for me to consider. The Halo since the operation does bother me a bit in the evening but I'm getting used to it. I think if it would be possible to give some sort of illustration to people booking in for this operation in the beginning of the process that they knew that this was a possible side effect and an option, and to what degree it might affect them so they have more time to make the decision of whether they could get more money together for this.
I do however, now have fantastic vision in my right eye and no longer need to wear glasses which is an incredible result so I really would recommend them

The healthcare abroad staff in Spain are fantastic! Whatever you need help with, they are on it. Great personalities & really help with keeping everyone’s spirits lifted. First class service in a private hospital, the doctors & staff were lovely. They should show Ireland how healthcare should be, as we are only here because of a failed Irish healthcare system. Thank you Healthcare abroad, I recommend you to anyone on an Irish hospital waiting list, fantastic service x

I recently went to Madrid to have a Cardiac Ablation through Healthcareabroad.ie.
My Liason , the Dr and Staff all SO helpful and concerned with the care and procedure i received. Everything easy to do as my liason brought me, collected me, introduced me to all Drs. The Dr's ( anaesthesiologist , OR and Recovery staff) all went above and beyond making sure I was recovering well , very professional , kind group.
Very Thankful for this avenue to get my procedure done in a timely and competent , safe manner !!!
Enjoyed the hotel ( one of the recommended, NH Ventas) as well!

Kevin 46. I Got in touch with health care aboard about having a knee replacement surgery. From the first phone call. It was all go. A week and a half later i was on a plane to Valencia for my new knee. A massive thank you to all the health care aboard Valencia team. The physio is top class. Thank you sir 👏. Hospital is state of the art. The hotel primus is fantastic and great staff. Im home a few day's and recovering great. Any questions I have or concerns. Is answered in a fast manner by the amazing Amy. If you're looking for a company that puts you first. I highly recommend health care aboard.

Wonderful experience with Health Care Abroad . Totally professional and caring. Superb medical staff and doctors in Valencia. Wonderful modern hospital. All the Health Care Abroad staff were fantastic and it was fantastic to be picked up at the airport/hotel by such friendly drivers like John and Freddie. I honestly recommend healthcare abroad to everyone. I rang the end of January 2026 and explained my situation and they where so understanding, I had my surgery in Madrid the 17th of March 2026 under Dr. Mining (an absolute angel). I was suffering with pain from the age of 13 being told nothing was wrong with me and it was all in my head. Long story short… my pains got worse when I was 17 and I was begging for help for 5 full years. I contacted healthcare abroad and the way I was treated was honestly out of this world. I was treated with so much respect and dignity that I never had before. Javier who was my driver was a true gem every question I had he answered the best he could. Laura who was honestly my ride or die supported me every step of the way there was tears, there was anxiety every emotion any human would feel going for such a major surgery, I could go on and on for days about this but honestly I couldn’t recommend them more. I now have my life back living healthy no more pain and I’m back to work I just feel like a hole new person waking up everyday with no more pain is just something I can’t describe it feels amazing I now can live my life as a happy 22 year old and not suffer anymore. Even when I came home to Ireland I still had dr minig texting me and ring me and question I had he answered.. and doubt I had he accompanied me..

Brilliant service from pick up at Airport till my departure after surgery. Drivers were so nice, and so caring. Healthcare staff were just amazing . Amy , Kevin excellent to check in on you while in hospital and drivers eg John&Frankie Such lovely staff.
My experience will be spoken about to family and friends in which I trust was absolutely a pleasure to deal with each and everyone of staff. You are very much prioritised before and after Surgery. My progress has been great due to great physio before returning home.
Walking unaided 5 weeks after op and no pain. I made the right decision to travel to Valencia, amazing service .

Fantastic Service and great friendly staff

My wife needed a right hip replacement, both of us are aged 73 and medical card holders, so we were looking at a long wait in the Irish system, when I found Healthcare Abroad. On first contact (Chris) he assured me that this could be arranged in 20 days and gave me several location options. My choice was Malaga, direct flights from Cork. Once the paperwork was completed with the help of the Healthcare Abroad. Travel began, we were met at Cork airport and a wheel chair provided and helped through the departure, met with the driver at Malaga airport(Dave) and transferred to the hotel. Consultation next day with Doc's and helped all the way by Rosa the patient liaision of Healthcare Abroad, operated next day, and released 4 days later, with physio twice a day for the next 5 days back home 2 days later. Through our time in Spain both Dave and Rosa were available at all times at the end of a phone, I have to give extra thanks to Rosa, a treasure !!!, a note to Healthcare Abroad KEEP HER .

I had a replacement knee carried out in Viathas Hospital in Benalmadena. What a success. No more pain or stiffness. I first made the phone call on the second week of January to Chris in Healtcare Abroad and had my replacement on 19th March. Could have been sooner but we had already booked flights for our holidays on Costa del Sol. Everything from start to finish was just plain sailing from meeting my Consultant, Dr. Fidalgo to my 10 sessions of physiotherapy afterwards. Bernardo and Hengameh pushed me in physio but that is what is needed. They were excellent. Our liaison at the hospital was Rosa. She went above and beyond looking after me. An absolute gem. Nothing at all was a problem and kept in touch with me every day until my departure. I cannot recommend Healthcare Abroad enough. If you are thinking about it, don't, just make that call. You will be glad you did. Excellent.
